Being a proud Aussie who has heard this song since whenever, it never gets old!!
Definitely a fabulous band love the saxophone 😁
I was a 16 year old teen in Australia when this song came out - we listened to it VERY day over and over for a long time. As aussies this song is now ingrained into us.
This is the ring tone on my phone for unidentified callers. 😎😎😎😎
Business as Usual has SO MANY GOOD songs!!!! Catch a Star. Down by the Sea. Touching the Untouchables.... You can't miss!!
'80s latchkey kid: Men at Work owned the world, and the souls of MTV, for a hot minute.
You've sure got that right--Colin Hay's one of the most underrated vocalists of the 80's. Stellar song with a wailin' sax and Police-style rhythms. Not to mention that hook! Their debut album was really special and fun.
The humorous videos on MTV were big hits, too.
Great early MTV stuff...I definitely appreciate them more now then as a teenager in the 80's
I was one of those that helped it to multi platinum back in the day. What an album!
I had the cassette and it kept me entertained travelling back home from interstate when I was in the Army. Many memories with this one.
I got this album Christmas of '82. Wore the grooves off of it. The whole album is great.
Oh yes, the 80's had very interesting music , most definitely!!!!
Love these guys, being a teenager in the 80's were the best times.
For those of you who mentioning Overkill, first of all HECK YEAH lol but you should check Colin out with Choir!Choir!Choir! singing it, it's so beautifully done!!♥️✌
Love this song! Love the band! My daughter just saw them in Nashville. "Overkill" is my favorite of theirs. But this song is always a "dial drop" if i am flipping on the radio. Now that i heard it again - duh, it's all about the 🎷. So good and so fun! And so glad you put it out for Halloween!
Yes "Overkill" is the shimmering, but brooding culmination of where their sound ultimately was headed:
From the overly joyous "Down Under" to the cheeky but paranoid "Who Can It Be" to the minor chord, midnight rumination of "Overkill."
I agree. Defining track for them.
Overkill, best of the men at work!
this shit rocks. I grew up listening to them in the 80's. IN 81' I was a 10yr old.... sounds better 2day than ever, ........I am buying a SAX--- and learning this cut........
I have not heard this in ages. I actually forgot who did this song. I remember watching the video on MTV and hearing this in dance clubs. Love the sax in this too.
Be Good Johnny & Overkill are also both outstanding MAW songs. Colin Hay was also featured in an episode of Scrubs singing an acoustic version of Overkill.
Isn't it cool how they Harmonize towards the end of the song??
Overkill should be next, And watch Colin Hay on an old episode of Scrubs. He’s very funny.
Yes
Its a great song
I really like that song
The acoustic of Overkill from the show is superb
That whole album is a masterpiece , but I am biased.
they were the true funsters of 80s
Hey guys - the words Australian and Saxophone made me think that you'd appreciate reacting to John Farnham. He's an Aussie powerhouse vocalist and my favourite performance from him has an epic sax solo. Search up HELP by John Farnham and The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. A reaction video with him is guaranteed a lot of views and new subscribers too.
Men at Work is another Awesome Band from the 80's. They are from Australia, the land down under. They had many great song's throughout their playing. Listen to all of their music. Totally Awesome and Narley Dude 🤟🤘👊✊🤙
Colin Hay is an amazing songwriter and performer. Lately, he's been touring with Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band. Zach Braff and Krista Lawrence were big fans of Colin - they were co-stars on Scrubs and incorporated a lot of his music into the soundtrack for that series.
One of the best 80's songs! GREAT REACTION, GUYS!
Righteous ‘80’s music. Caught these guys in ‘83 on a blistering hot summer night. I remember the keyboard player lamenting the fact that there were moths cavorting in his wine between songs. They were very cheeky and a lot of fun. Check out “Be Good Johnny” . Keep the extinguisher handy.
love this song but overkill is their masterpiece. even better than this one and i love this song but down under makes me smile so much and i love it more.
Love overkill and it's a mistake!
Colin Hay is from Scotland but was living in Australia at the time
This was the second album I ever bought! I learned to play part of the sax part back then, but I’m sure it was pretty lousy.. 😂 unfortunately, Greg Hamm the sax player passed away not that long ago. Great song, though - thanks for reacting!
Also wanted to add that “Overkill” from their next album is great, but another great song is “No Sign of Yesterday” - an amazing vibe!
Yes, I concur!
This has been my ringtone for years.
82, playing in a huge bar in BC, they kept playing this new song. Never heard it before then. Memories.
Living in Atlanta back in the 80's, I got to see some great live concerts. The first one for me was Tina Turner with her PRIVATE DANCER tour. The second? Men At Work and the BUSINESS AS USUAL tour!
Colin Hay has an Amazing voice. He still sounds awesome. Check out Men at Work's song "OVERKILL" and Colin's solo song "You Saved Me From Myself (From The Resident). Colin Hay has such a distinctive voice. You hear it and automatically know it's him. Greg Hamm was the Sax player. He played saxophone, flute, organ, piano, and synthesizer. He was so talented. Sadly, we lost him in April 2012 (heart attack). RIP Greg.
If you love the Sax sound you should check out John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band - their song "Tender Years" and "On the Dark Side" has awesome Sax in it.
Greg Ham was such a huge part of the band's personality. he is sorely mssed.
Men At Work. What can I say - so much good songs. "Touching the untouchables", "It's a mistake", "Fallin' down" (Live at Merriweather Post Pavilion, very very excellent saxophone solo), "Catch a star", "No restrictions". Brilliant sound
Movies have too much sax and violins but I love them in music. That sax playing in Who Can It Be Now? is A-1 throughout. Love the harmonizing as well.
It's A Mistake and Overkill are excellent early songs by Men At Work.
Absolute MUST HEAR Classics:: Argent "Hold Your Head Up"...Head East "Never Been Any Reason"..Free "All Right Now"..Vanilla Fudge "You Keep Me Hangin' On" & Billy Thorpe "Children Of The Sun" (Exclusive Video)..TRUST ME On These!!
Argent, hold your head up for sure!
Saw them in a dance club , what a great FUN band . Great show
Did Ryan say "triple dong??" 🤣🤣
Yeah, this is a great song. Everybody loved it, as well as the rest of this surprisingly great album which came out of nowhere in 1982. Their 1983 follow-up album was nearly as good. You guys need to listen/react to "Be Good Johnny," "Overkill," and "It's A Mistake," which for some reason is their funniest song. 😂😂
Great song! Got the album for my birthday when it came out in the 80's!
"Be Good Johnny", "Overkill", and "Dr Heckyll and Mr Jive" should be on your play list!
Oh I forgot about that last one!!
So great to have been a teen in the 80s and hear this music on the radio. Luv them. You should now react to my fave Overkill. Also another cool 80s band ya might consider reacting to is The Fixx..
yeah saved by zero and red skies are their best songs
@@TheConservativeinaction Totally agree!
Yes! Funny, I was thinking Colin Hay had some serious Cy Curnin vibes when seeing that video again!
I've always loved this group. This song is my ringtone 👍👍😆♥️
Great song guys! Love Men At Work. You should try Overkill next. Cheers
Absolutely!
They are an Aussie band, but Colin Hay is Scottish (like Al Stewart!!!), and it shows occasionally when he sings. They had heaps of good songs, Overkill, It's a Mistake, I Like To, and Hard Luck Story. Worth a dive into in my opinion. Oh, and speaking of Al Stewart, he had a song called Joe The Georgian (about Joseph Stalin). It's about people who Starlin had killed waiting for him down in Hell! Or he had the hauntingly beautiful guitar piece called The Ghostly Horses of the Plain. Not exactly scary, but the horses were ghostly!!!
Colin Hay is so good... I've seen him solo and he's a fantastic musician and live performer... Great song and loved these guys during this run.
This fits in with my "spooky 80s music" genre. Who can it be now, Abra cadabra, Eye in The Sky, it all creeped me out
New viewer, just subbed you guys, first vid of yours I watched was Gerry Rafferty Baker Street.....looking forward to seeing more vids and checking out your old vids. I'm a massive music lover, collected since late 70s.
Burning Bed, another great song from the Australian band Midnight Oil.
I'm putting in another vote for "Overkill". Great song and video.
Funny you mention Colin having a voice resembling Jamaican/reggae, since the Jamaican accent is influenced by english, with Scottish and Irish being more noticeable similarities and Colin being born and raised in Scotland at least until he was 14 then moved to Australia. The actor Peter Capaldi also has that Scottish raspy voice sounding same to Hay and Sting also has that type of Jamaican style accent to his singing.
I absolutely love this band. Loved them as a kid, still love them today. Recommendations for future MaW songs: "Overkill," and my number one favorite, "No Sign Of Yesterday."
So much fun! Summer Sunday arvo at the pub on the beach music! Never gets old😊
If you want to react to an underrated / underappreciated Men at Work song, one that has few reactions to also, please give "Be Good Johhny" a spin.
Be Good Johnny has wicked cool guitar work. I second that suggestion!
It was a minor hit here in the states and got some airplay on MTV.
Love that song!!.
You guys need to check out Down By The Sea by these guys, you will not be disappointed 😀
I am really glad and even relieved that you liked this one.
colin hay said he got the idea of the song from a flat he use to share where the neighbours next door sold drugs from their flat and weird people at every time of the day would be knocking on their door but alot of the times they would knock on colins door by mistake and the idea of the song came from that
werewolves of lodnon needs to be on your halloween playlist. also monster mash by bobby pickett.
For Ryan--If you're all over that 80s sax there was a band called Quarterflash that had a lead singer/sax player. "Harden my Heart" and "Find another Fool" were their two biggies. Pretty solid in that 80s rock pocket.
Wait… has this channel done any Clarence Clemmons? Like "Born to Run"? That live concert video footage video is epic!
Yes, Quarterflash, female lead singer sax player! Love their stuff! Harden my heart@
I really liked this band 👍🏻
Great Review. Another Halloween themed song for Men At Work could be "Dr Heckyll and Mr. Jive", although my all time favorite song by them is "Settle Down My Boy". You should check those out. We share something in common, Nick. I was a mailman for 12 years, before I made a career change.
Boy, this took me back. Hopefully, another 40 years will pass before I have to listen to this song again!😆
This is my ringtone!
you should try some of Colin Hay's solo songs - Beautiful World, I'm Waiting for My Real Life, and Looking for Jack are all great solo songs from Colin.
1 of the 1st and best videos on early MTV
I bought their album when it came out and this is the first song I heard by them.
They have a song called Overkill. It's absolutely their best song. Very well written and performed.
Great Iconic Aussie Band, as a random request try the very iconic Aussie 80s band Cold Chisel and the song Forever Now (official video)..
Yup reminds me of somebodys watching me
Be Good, Johnny and Overkill - more to look at!
Great reaction...Down by the sea really highlights Colin Hay at his best
"It's A Mistake" is my recommendation for your next Men At Work sing. It reached #6 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1983.
Halloween! Their song”Dr. Heckle and Mr. Jive!”
If you like sax solos , Billy Joel's NEW YORK FRAME OF MIND
Check out Overkill.
Saw them on their only Florida appearance 1982/83 at the old Tampa Jai Lai 16th row with 9 other college buddies Great show!!!!
Story of my life.
This song is about a guy renting an apartment and having random people knocking and asking for drugs at all times of the day and night.
Obviously the previous tenant had a little business going on there before the he moved in there.
Overkill!!!!!!!!!!🥰
Halloween Marathon without Alice Cooper?
" Billion Dollar Babies" (72)
Welcome To My Nightmare? The DVD-A version is wonderful!
PLEASE do just Colin Hay doing “Are You Looking At Me”. 🙏🏻
Best 80 's new wave?
Adam & the Ants- Antimusic
you guys rock.
Give "Never Say Never" by Romeo Void a try and see what you think of that sax solo.
If you guys like sax solos react to "Sunny Disposition" by Avenged Sevenfold on The Stage album (Lyric Video). Don't get me wrong it has nothing on Who Can It Be Now but I think you guys would appreciate this song as well because the sax solos in the chorus really make it one of Avenged Sevenfold's most compelling songs. Thanks.
This is my personal theme song. I'm just short of a professional recluse. haha. 🙂
Hey boy's,
What about a Aussie gun singer.
John Farnham who sung a version of "Help"
by Beatles.
A live version with the Melbourne Symphony
I challenge your to react to him gun voice.
I know you will be amazed!!!!.
Promise...
PS want an off the wall banger sax solo check out the ‘80s classic “I Know What Boys Like” by The Waitresses
Best song of the 80s? I would argue for: The Church - Under the Milky Way...
🙏❤🌹 Greg 🌹❤🙏
Great song! Simple and very catchy tunes! Great reaction guys! My suggestion for a reaction to put on your playlist for Halloween is by RUSH, a song off of Moving Pictures called Witch Hunt.
Hey, Could you plz react to Mornin’, The Theme from Moonlighting and Just to be Loved by Al Jarreau? This guy is AMAZING
Solo sax is the best sax. After all, who knows how you like it, better than you...?😂
Big Orange knocking at your door kitties.! Do Peace Frog by the Doors dudes.
100% double down on “Overkill” from Cargo. Their greatest composition, haunting.
If you want a good sax sound. Listen to Billy Joel's Temptation
It's a fun, uptempo song melodically but the words are pretty dark seeming to highlight a person's paranoia and the troubled state of his mental health, for whatever reason(s).
Aussie Aussie Aussie.. try midnight oil 😁
Brilliant - try DOA Bloodrock
Hi guys can I request an Oz 3 price band the living end , live vid, E boogie and second solution great band all players kill it .
IF YOU LIKE 80s SAX SOLOS - try the band "Japan" and their video "Swing". Duran Duran ripped off EVERYTHING from Japan.
