    Hi! This is Larry from paramotor training. I just finished my first complete rebuild, the motor runs great! Your videos on the 185 are the only reasons I achieved success 1st try! Thank you very much Brian! Much appreciated!!!

    The Teflon pump diaphragm you tossed is installed when nitro methane or gasoline fuel with added alcohol or ethanol is used.

    Hey, just a quick note to say how much I'm enjoying your channel.
    I really believe that I would like THAT kind of flying, even though I will not get in a commercial airline!
    I never had a problem climbing the side of a building or a two thousand foot tower. My wife always said that it was a control thing, being in control!
    I replied with, hell yes, it's my life, I want to be able to control it........... YEAH RIGHT !!
    Thanks for sharing and take care.

      HA! I can relate to that. I think I care more about things being right and having good outcomes than most. I've been let down enough times trusting other people to do work for me.

    That was a simply awesome video Brian. I finally worked on my first carbureator the other day. Thanks to you I wasn't clueless and it was pretty easy. Thank you! Your knowledge delivery to me, helped me really help a friend in need.

    Beautiful tutorial on the carb. I tore mine apart after watching your video and found that the diaphragms were warped and the needle was entirely ruined. It's been hard starting for a while and I hope the rebuild fixes it. Haven't flown yet. One thing I love is the Green everything that you added. Thank you for starting me down the path of marking everything with the same color. I also stuck a zip tie on the spark plug cap. I got that idea from a friend who had his constantly fall off while in flight.

    Appreciate the awareness to detail and inspection of your flying machine! I especially understand safety of flight items, being an airline mechanic and with friends who fly light aircraft, the attention to detail is critical when flying. Enjoyed the video!!

    Great, very informative video! Two thoughts. Double wrap your zip ties so they don't leak. Often, if you don't wrap them around the fuel line twice, they leak. Also, I hate to see a u bend in the fuel line, meaning the line goes above the carb, then back down. Best practices are to have the fuel line heading straight up toward the carb with no bends in it. It may not be a problem with your motor, but many might form an air block that won't get sucked up and removed by your motor which could lead to a melted piston.

    Being able to torque to spec with feel is impressive enough with a ratchet (I'm somewhat a torque nazi) but this is the first time I've seen someone do that with a screwdriver, and that was a great tip about pressing down while tightening to reduce chances of stripping threads (as I understood it). Makes so much sense.
    I have a question though. Why zipties on the hoses instead of hose clamps?

    • @briansmobile1
      @briansmobile1  Před 7 lety +1

      Great question. Weight, color, serviceability, and it works. They don't cut like wire does, they are lighter than band clamps, and they're green and easy to spot an issue on pre-flight check. If it's gone it's easy to spot. If its there, the hose will stay there also.

    Brian, great video. Used it to rebuild mine. thanks! two questions...first, what is the little hole drilled in the diaphragm cover accomplish? Second question is...a buddy told me that in order to get the idle right, I "need the correct spring tension on top of the diaphragm...something like 12psi" any idea what spring he's referring to?

    • @tomandsophie
      @tomandsophie Před 5 lety

      I guess you will have found out by now, but just in case you haven't, it's the little spring under the metering lever (the one that lifts the metering needle.

    • @briansmobile1
      @briansmobile1  Před 7 lety +3

      Most any two materials that press together leave a mark of cleanliness, abrasion, or material transfer. This can be used to determine what was once together and how. It's like magnifying glass detective stuff. The marks "witness" to what once was.
