He can still redeem his Chelsea career in the upcoming Mendy's absence during the AFCON. He has improved a lot under Tuchel so I'm not as worried about him as I used to.
Nah.... Because he's playing lesser games i wouldn't say it's an improvement, i see it more of damage control

As an Athletic Club fan, it was tough to see him go at the time, especially since our supposed next-in-line GK Alex Remiro held out over a contract extension and eventually signed on a free with our rivals. But our 4th string keeper back then has become Spain’s #1 and our youth team keepers are starters for Spain’s u21 and u19 teams. I assume they mean their crazy mad lad adverts pimping the Athletic. The Athletic destroyed football journalism in England by essentially creating a Super League of journalists, f the Athletic.
People will tell you the content is better, it's not, it might have been slightly better at first with lots of long piece articles but now it's just the same old click bait stories as any other site.

its more of Mendy being so good that pushed kepa out, its unfortunate because i think he regained form.
Nah...
i see what you are trying to say but u can't rlly tell if he is in good form or not. He might get the chance of some game time in the near future tho...then we will see...
@@veler6049 but what about the super cup then?
Mendy was brought because kepa was soooo poor. Very bad take
I think your forgetting the final season he had before me day arrived, he was apalling
No I think that's the case now, but he really did need to get out of the limelight a bit and recover that confidence a bit. Having Mendy there to push him and take the attention away from him and having Tuchel there to be a manager who puts his arm round him and seems to have that personal touch has definitely helped him get back to form. However Mendy has now developed his distribution a lot and has improved a crazy amount and this is making it even harder for Kepa to get back in.
I can see him trying to show his worth during the afcon spell and have one more season at Chelsea, but he probably will move away as he most likely wants to play more. Also by then he will have less years on his contract and will be willing to take a wage cut.
Kepa isn't just about Stats, but the visual. It was a mix of the bust up with Sarri, the lack of form under Lampard and Mendy being a steady solution.

The expectation and pressure that came with the price tag, the uncertainty, press, and pressure that came with the mix up with Sarri, adapting to life alone in England, and Lampard destroying any defensive ability we had whilst simultaneously blaming players and destroying the confidence of a number of them including Kepa are all at fault.

It's just his wage that should be of any concern- his vigor in shootouts and him taking his role in Cup matches has been a beautiful turnaround. He can stay at Chelsea if he brings his contract figures down and still make a big impact when he plays! He was failed by management in the past and scrutiny at a young age can do bad things to great shotstoppers, but that doesn't have to be the last chapter in his narrative. Catch up fella. That was 3 years ago. He's had a redemption arc, saved us ob pens in some hairy games and is a phenomenal back up. So long as he's happy as back up to Mendy, I don't think any CFC supporter would want him gone and the money is irrelevant when you're as financially solid as CFC.

And great pieces today, though I do agree that I haven't heard any bad news on Kepa in a while, even though I don't follow Chelsea closely, which is a far cry from what it was like earlier in his Chelsea career.
So he's certainly far more stable now
Because he has been brilliant under Tuchel...he has regained his confidence and his pen shootout is out of the World... because of him Chelsea have won a lot of trophies and so the UEFA super cup also cup game against Villa...he has been very good in Pl to the limited game he has played and the cup...I think he is too good to be backup but don't think he can get into the team for Mendy either so I think during the Afcon when Mendy goes...Kepa will play and hopefully he does well...he will play in tough game too...I think he should leave either permanently or loan but I want him to succeed for Chelsea it would be such a story..the amount of hate he got in last couple of years and he had his personal life issues with his long-term gf leaving him...anybody would feel down and depressed...I think the pricetag and the expectations got better of him...hope he does well

Hey guys, as a Chelsea fan (and a football fan more generally) it's great to see you make videos about something other than ole, man utds decline and guardiolas tactics. Might I suggest a detailed look at the rise of success stories emanating from Cobham this season? Mount, James, Chalobah, Gallagher, Livramento, Guehi, Gilmour are all playing premier League football, that seems like a large number.
Just one thing , putting the name of Courtois and Petr Cech in one sentence is a disrespect to Legends of football , The Legendary status of Cech is so high that even if that guy becomes the man of the match for the rest of Madrid games for the rest of his football career he can't even reach the respect Cech had
Well - under Potter he's back clearly! Not sure what Mendy did that made Potter select Kepa regularly - but generally Kepa has stepped up and is playing much much better. I thought on form Mendy was better and far more commanding - however what we have now is not the Kepa of old...

I like him, though the price paid was a tad bit more, he made worth of it during penalties. Some mistakes in the first season under Lampard is the only blame to his name. But think of it this way, if he can make a sensational save like the one against Frankfurt and the one against Liverpool seals the deal that he has talent.

Eduard Mendy has been integral since joining Chelsea. Now they are in a Premier League title race and have a strong chance of retaining the Champions league. No surprise Kepa can't get into the first team.
Kepa was frequently conceding goals from long shots. which was supposedly less probable to concede..
He's improved a lot under Tuchel though, so it's not that big of a deal. He's also the best backup goalkeeper in the league at the moment and is at least midtable quality as a first choice keeper. He can fill Mendy's hole when he goes to AFCON

I don't understand why players don't just take wage cuts (unless they want to warm the bench of course). Like people in other jobs have to do it all the time. Its the cost of moving to a better suited "company" or in this case team sometimes. It hurts, but...
I always thought Kepa was one of the taller keepers in the EPL from looking at him, turns out he's kinda average height (for a GK) and just really skinny/lanky 😬
Honestly tifo has become my fav soccer podcast / funny but facts / those ads could make me buy anything
I thought the song was about Kepa's Chelsea contract...
coming from a Chelsea fan. I don't view his transfer fee as a major cause for concern, especially considering it was a release clause fee that the club were forced to pay in order to sign him. At this point in time he was a major contributing factor for us winning the europa league in 2019, and the uefa super cup in 2021. He's also made great improvements under Tuchel and I think he will only improve more now that we have an owner that utilizes data to make improvements to his sporting teams. people only want to look at his transfer fee, but putting that to the side temporarily, there is an outstanding GK in there somewhere and he is still young enough to prove that over the coming years. COYB!
Getting one of those Winston Bogarde Chelsea contracts must be up there with winning the world Cup in terms of dream scenarios....
