New to the Bellanca but it is easy to see your expertise! Thanks and keep it coming!

Another great video by Dave. The best Bellanca content out there.

Thank you Dave. Very well explained as always. Your camera work is outstanding and really helps me at least to see, not just “visualize” what is being explained. Keep up the great work.

Around 35 years ago I kept a fleet of Vikings maintain with my newly acquired a&p license and made a mistake tighten in that ball joint up too tight on one. ended up cracking the Short pipe from the ball and on next inspection I caught it and realized what I had done wrong. I learned a lot of mechanic skills working and flying those airplanes.

Be sure to install cotter pins after assembling and setting the tension on the ball joint

is that the same bolt on the 14-19-3? How long are the AN3C?

Great video as usual! My plane has another small muffler looking thing downstream of the ball joint. Does that indicate anything as far as whether I have to comply with the AD? My plane is a 78 with the 520

The muffler indtalled aft of the ball joint does not change the inspection interval requirements of the AD. There is typically a perforated tube inside the muffler. You need to make sure the tube is not cracked.

What Bellanca's does this apply to? I have a 14-19-3 with the IO-470.

It applies to any of the systems that have a ball joint. I think some of the earlier systems may have had a slip joint at the aft end of the collector and springs supporting the tail pipe. I would have to research the AD's to see if those systems were supposed to be upgraded to the ball joint.
