I can say it was common place to have this served for lunch in public school in central Kansas where I grew up! It just works!
Wtf?! Lifelong Kansan here, and I just started hearing about this combo like 3-5 years ago.
Crazy, because i’m from Kansas City, Missouri and nobody does this.

I think I’ve seen an explanation for this sweet and salty combo before. Same with fries and frosty. It is soemthing about your stimulating your sweet tastebud and salty tastebud at the same time which triggers multiple sense of joy from your tongue to your brain. My paraphrase might be wrong cuz of my stinky brain but yea. Would love to try someday!

So real talk, I vaguely remember hearing about this from Lisa...
But when I tried to try it for myself, I used glazed donuts instead of cinnamon rolls.
Regular glazed: 5/10
Chocolate glazed: 7/10
I put cinnamon in savory tomato based stews and sauces all the time :) it works great
I also tried this because of lisa and liked it a lot
My bf lived in Nebraska. He told me about Runza, a chain restaurant that serves cinnamon rolls with chili. I was grossed out 😂😂 to each their own. I'm gonna stick with my jalapeno cornbread!

I went to school in Kansas City and we had this BUT they were served separate. We would we eat the roll after the chili :)
I love cinnabuns and I crave chili when it is cold outside.
So I can see myself liking the both of them together.
Can you do a vid about the origin of this combo? I'm from Wichita and I honestly don't know how this got started. I mean it's nice that we are coming to be known for an interesting and unique food combo, but I literally don't know of a place in ICT that serves both chili and cinnamon rolls besides Stroud's or Riverside Cafe.

It's so weird how this is a thing, yet I grew up in the KC area and went to high school and college in Kansas and currently live in Kansas and I only heard about it a few years ago. I've never tried it.
