They were teasing me with the usual, "Oh, yes you do, you just don't know it yet" and "You will change your mind" and "When you find the right woman, you will want one", type of encouragements. This continued for a few years till my mid-twenties. When I told them I had a vasectomy, it was like a bomb exploded. The room went completely silent. My twin brother got all choked up. My parents shed some tears. I learned how ingrained society was that everybody has children, everybody wants children and everybody should have children. They were devastated. Thirty years later, I've never once regretted it.
I'm so tired of everyone think married couples have to have children. I'm 58 and never wanted children. My life is perfectly fine without them and I have yet to regret it. I love my life with just my husband and myself and we have a fuzzy baby too.

There is nothing wrong to have a four legged baby and considering it your child. It warms my heart that you two consider Banzo your child/son. But now you have two babies, a fur-baby and a human baby, which gives you more blessings and a precious little girl to love.

I’m old (67) and always,always wanted grandchildren,like really…. However both of our childrens lives haven’t gone in that direction.(They are both in their mid forties). I grieve the idea I didn’t get to experience being a grandparent. That said it is their live to choose what they want,not mine. You have to live your life your way.
I’m going through this now. I’ve always wanted to be a mom and now a grandma. My son has mentioned having kids and I don’t push but he does watch me melt over my nieces and nephews babies. ❤

I always said I didn't want kids and then we got pregnant when I was 40 (thank you COVID) and we had our beautiful son. Being a mother is better then I ever could have imagined. It's harder and also the most beautiful thing I've ever done. I'm currently pregnant with our second son at age 42. I HATE being pregnant but I know this time the reward at the end of the tunnel is better than anything.

We have other challenges such as health and financial crisis up and downs over 15 yrs but we always have love! We are a lesbian couple with 5 puppy children 4 kitty children and an adopted special needs kid. But your advice still applies to us. Thank you. You inspire me to work harder when giving up would be so much easier
I’ve learned red flags like for example when he was yawning every time Angela speaks her part. I’d been like ok clingy haterima keep it professional and keep it moving. Angela is not dumb and we are all learning I want people to be genuine and happy. What ever it takes starting with compassion for yourself and then compassion for others sometimes from a distance so they can go deeper. Life is short just my opinion my 29 cents. My son and daughter in law have been married 5 years and I have never asked them about kids. It’s their decision and none of my business. Would I love grandkids, but they may have reasons they don’t want to share. I love them for them and not what they can give me! It’s not about me!

Not sure about that…. I mean some people can be acting one way when you first meet them “the representative” and it’s not until you get to know that person that you realize the toxicity within. Engaging is something required in order to get passed the “representative” and know the real person and get passed the BS. Now once you get to know someone then you can determine weather or not they are toxic. Honestly I would say get to know them first as friends get passed the BS and determine weather or not you want them in your life. Just a though from my personal past experiences from a long time ago. (Married for 15 years now).
On kids. So, I'm in my 60s and with 6 older siblings realized long ago I don't want kids. To actually be a parent vs breeder (just making a kid is easy), is a big responsibility and takes dedication of your life. I've met a few along the way that wanted kids. Do not misunderstand me, I love kids. I just know that I don't want any of my own. So, I rent.
I think the concern can also be if a couple can’t have children. If I’m really close to someone I don’t have an issue asking if they are thinking of having children. Otherwise none of my business.
It sucks but so many people think it's there business to know if and when your having kids, and it's really not. So many people are trying and feeling like failures and being asked all the time is hard and they may not be ready to open up about the struggles they are having. I have no problem now telling people straight up I'm infertile haha but wasn't always.

Lewis' _That Hideous Strength_ comes to mind. Infertile, but a surrogate mother to many. Many Christians are called to physically reproduce ("be fruitful and multiply"), but all Christians are called to reproduce kingdomwise ("go and make disciples of all nations"). Adoption is also a beautiful way to show the world the reality of what God the Father did for us Christians, His lost sheep.
There are far fewer "toxic people" than there are "toxic relationships". If you are attracting "toxic people", be sure that it isn't that you are contributing to making the relationship toxic with a person who might not be toxic with someone else.
I haven't had many relationships but I believe some people see toxicity when someone is being real wich I am. Soo I would hate someone that is constantly turning a blind eye to reality just to smile and seem happy all the time. Theirs a time for everything meaning sad happiness etc.
