- High-Risk Pregnancy? Let’s talk about it… My “geriatric” pregnancy is officially “high risk”. They said my baby is too small, I said she’s just snatched. 😜
A few of my friends have been through the high-risk monitoring and have shared their experiences with me, but have any of you? I’m staying positive and just taking it day by day.
Thank you so much for your support! 😍

I was 40 when I had my first and only child. I was also considered high risk and had to be monitored from my 4th month until I gave birth. My son was born full term and weighed 5.9 lbs at birth. He was in the below 0 percentile until he was 4yrs old. He is now 9 and is in the 96th percentile. Don't worry...God is watching over you!
My first son was 4 pounds full term. They diagnosed IUGR (Intra uterine growth restriction) I had stress tests every week. He was perfect when he was born, just tiny. Take it easy and take your vitamins! Sending good vibes your way!😊
I had my first at 41 and was high risk with gestational diabetes. Did the monitoring 2x a week. You will both be ok
You're so amazing and have the best attitude! You absolutely ARE beautiful! My sister's oldest daughter weighed 4 1/2 lbs full-term ... She's 18 now and is graduating next month... perfectly healthy!!! It had something to do with my sister's placenta? It will all be lovely!!!
Oh, bless you. You have entered the mom world. I love your attitude! I had my first baby at 38 and then a second baby girl at 40. If my gynecologist had called my pregnancy geriatric I would have been very insulted. They need to change that terminology now. Pregnancy is hard enough and that language is somewhat recent. Older women have been having babies for thousands of years! We were just called at risk in the 90s.
That's so nice you shared I'm sure all these different scenarios making her feel more calm and confident and less insecure about her pregnancy so thanks to all y'all mom's this here is what this world needs more loving people ❤❤ Stay Blessed 🙏
Regardless how small, we are praying for a very healthy baby and of course yourself.
I was told my baby had a spinal defect. I had him at 40. He is perfectly healthy! No issues whatsoever. Hang in there!❤ Sometimes the tests are simply wrong. Praying this is the case for you.
Same thing happened to me! Also, I was small (born 4 pounds) and I’m over 40 yrs old now…and I ain’t a tiny girl no more 😂
My mother was almost 48 when I came along. She was, of course, shocked! I weighed 8+ lbs. when I was born. Take good care of yourself and we will all be praying for you. My husband and I just love you - you are so funny and relatable! Many prayers and love!
I had twins in my 6th month. They were 3.1 and 3.5 when they were born, BUT the both lost weight and went down to 2.6 and 2.7 lbs. They were in the neonatal unit for more than 3 months. TODAY, they are 45 years old with no problems! Don’t worry….it NEVER helps to worry.❤
Wow. Im a twin and we weighed 8.1 and 8.2 !!! I never understood how my mother carried that much baby in her belly!
My mom was 33 when she had me. I was born 3 months early at 1 pound and 15 ounces.
I’m now 33 and was a very high achieving child, in athletics, and a successful happy adult. Keep your positivity because anything can be well :)
I see nothing wrong with sleeping. The body does it’s best healing when you sleep. ❤️❤️❤️
My doctor tried to get me to have an abortion. He said my baby was too small & had a very small brain. She was 2 weeks past my due date. She was 7.8 lbs 21 inches lomg. Smart as hell! Always on honor roll.. I too gained all the weight. I pray for y'all!!!
Wow! Thank you for sharing your birth story!! 🫶
The fact that the doctor even recommended that…😤
Oh my gosh thank goodness u didnt listen to that "dr"...smh so glad u and ur daughter survived and she esp is doing well ❤
Sounds like she was not even a light baby in the end, maybe the due date was just wrong and he was comparing her to a two week older fetus.
How far along when he recommended abortion? I’m so grateful things are as they should be. God bless you and yours.
When I was in college I got pregnant with my first baby. I was told by my doctor to have an abortion because I was in school and the baby was going yo be a burden. I still had him and he was perfectly healthy. He is now 22 and he is my strength now that I am disabled due to a stroke at only 43.
I gave birth last year at 39, "geriatric" as well - have a healthy baby boy, I'm sure you guys will be great! Sending y'all prayers for smooth delivery!
The best piece of advice my mom gave me when I gained weight with my PCOS and had a very hard time like you are having , she said " don't look at the sizes, just put the clothes on and if you feel good in them that's what matters, not the size on the tag" ❤ something about looking at our age written down, our weight on a scale or size on a tag has a way of distorting how we feel on the inside 🦋
2 of my babies were 5lbs even though they were full term (& I was 36 & 40 when I had them). Try to relax & just receive the blessing! My husband always said AMA (advanced maternal age) REALLY means Awesome Mom Awaiting! So sweet & so true. Let them do the extra monitoring but try not to stress out about it. We all love you & wish you all the best. God bless you. ❤
Even when we had our second kid at 34, the medical professionals were all like, "Oh, you should do amniocentesis to see if the baby has Down's" and that kinda thing. There is a small chance of spontaneous pregnancy ending with amniocentesis. We were like, "We are not risking this kid on someone else's anxiety or percentages or whatever!" Baby was totally fine and healthy and is now our 22 year old daughter. Just stay positive and blessed, and whatever God has in store will happen. ❤ 🙏 💪
I love the way u handled that ❤sometimes its not worth the risk, and u will love ur baby however God made he or she! ❤
AMEN!! 👏
@@melissagayheart7716 Thank you for your kind words! Yes, as you say, we figured we would love the kid no matter what!
@@paulbrown2422 welcome ❤❤
I was also told that my baby was measuring small. He was 8.9…
I was told that my second child was going to be HUGE.. she was 8 lbs. Don’t sweat this.❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
I am a "geriatric" woman (69).😊Your lil baby girl is going to be sooo precious, sweet and petite just like her mommy 💗🙏
I’m 40 and pregnant with my first. Thank you for the updates and I’m wishing you and your baby nothing but the best. And thank you for keeping it real ❤
Don't worry too much. My youngest was born 7 weeks early, and she was in the 1% during my pregnancy and up till she was about 4. She even lost weight and head size decreased in utero. The docs thought she was going to be a still-birth. She still turned out to be a healthy happy baby, who's about to turn 13 this year. Keep your faith, keep praying and hoping for the best. Praying for you!
I think my mom was like your youngest. She was very premature, and I'm sure weighed very little, she was so small that the doctor could hold her in the palm of his hand. My sister, on other hand, was a long difficult birth being that she was a very large baby and they needed to use forceps to help with the delivery to get her head out. It was misshapen for a while, later we used to laugh about it.

I have hooked my hubby on your pregnancy journey guys. I just updated him yesterday. If anyone heard us 🤣 it was like talking about a friend. 😂 🙏🏾
And doctors have a tendency to also inform Mama's of the other end of the spectrum; "baby is measuring too big, let's schedule you for a C-section.." then comes baby and they're average weight/significantly smaller than supposedly measured.
Bless your heart Mama ❤
These last weeks are the toughest on our bodies and minds.
with my first I had a long, drawn out period of pushing. I remember my doctor commenting "I don't think it's a big baby"... then she is finally out with the help of a vacuum extractor and pressure applied to the top of my uterus by my husband and a nurse. As soon as she was born he said "well, so much for it not being a big baby". She weighed 8 lbs 14 oz.
I had my first baby at 22 (9lb, 7 oz), my second at 37 (8 lb, 1 oz) and my youngest at 41 (7 lb, 8 oz). They are all healthy. Doctors don't know everything.
A lot of the weight doesn't start accumulating until the last month of pregnancy is what I was told. My son was born 7 1/2 month in and he was 5lbs 11ou
They told my cousin she needed to have a C- section because the baby was measuring too big, went through it and baby was just over 5 lbs. So yes, sometimes doctors' guesstimates aren't an exact science (yet)
I just had a baby at 42w & 5 days. He weighed 11 lbs. I had him natural, no pain meds, standing up & I did not tare at all! He is perfectly fine & so am i!! & I love my midwife that helped me to be in an open position & help him come out! Also, I love gentle birth by meadow mountain herbs, & hypnobirthing videos by bridget teyler & other vids about relaxing thru contractions! I had an amazing birth with no pain except the ring of fire & it wasn't that bad. Just have to breath, relax & be strong mentally. Women are built to birth!
@@AlejandraS333and they never will. They aren't God
That's awesome
& I've read other comments of woman having healthy babies after 40. I just had my 3rd at 38 & I want another!
Keeping you both in our Prayers 🙏🙏🙏
I too was small but healthy!! Praying for peace for Dad and Mama! ❤❤❤
Never forget that our Lord is in control! My oldest grand daughter was a “small” baby. She was born at 38 weeks and weighed 5.7 pounds. They had NICU on standby because they thought she was under 5 pounds. She is now a healthy, happy, brilliant girl! I was told that my oldest was going to be retarded because of a chromosome issue I had. He is now a bio-medical engineer! Again, the Lord is in control!
But The Lord doesn’t assign birth defects to anyone. He’s in control but if you give birth to a baby with birth defects it was not the Lord’s fault !
There is no “Lord.” It’s all about science - not superstition.
What, Kevin? Were you a big Boulder? You sound ridiculous! Have you given birth? Oh, I get it. Science hasn't figured that out yet.
They wanted to do genetic testing when I hit pregnant at age 38. When I asked why, my female doctor said, “you have old eggs.” I got a new doctor and gave birth to a healthy baby girl a few months later.
I LOVED BEING PREGNANT ESPECIALLY AFTER THE FIFTH MONTH. You got this, sister.
Seriously?! 🙄 some doctors… you know when they give vague comments like that there’s something up.
Some are just trying to line their pockets.
I’m glad you found a new doc and had a better experience with a healthy baby. Way to go! 👏💕
@@CaliMel184 Your source references? I said that my baby turned out fine. You just like to go around on the Internet and insult people you don’t even know. Does that make you feel good?
I think the problem might be old sperm , but no one ever mentions that ❤
@@MartineReed why’d you take her comment as an insult…we have modern science and new technology to do all types of tests. Just because you didn’t test doesn’t mean the test would have shown your child as normal in the tests. My friend discovered at 14 weeks that her baby wouldn’t survive due to a chromosome abnormality and we were all prepared for the inevitable outcome when she delivered. So instead of ignoring her doctors advice for testing she didn’t look at the advice as an insult.

My daughter was 6 weeks early: weighed 5lbs 3oz. She is a healthy 27 year old woman. Sleep all you want. Everything will be fine
Congratulations to the both of you on your beautiful new life.
I’m currently 6 months pregnant, I’m 38 I have had a long journey as well. Been with my husband since I was 18, I had 3 miscarriages, have endometriosis, pcos, thyroid issues, I was just about to give up all hope I was at that breaking point in my life. But I still had this very little hope in the back of my mind to say nope your not going to give up not just yet. And out of nowhere boom.! In oct last year I got pregnant. I’m also high risk due to my age and thyroid problems. Much love to you and your family may god keep blessing you. ❤
Hope everything is going well for you and your baby.
My first three babies were tiny; one was even five weeks early. They weren't even on the growth charts growing up but they set their own rates instead. We're small in my family and those babies were small like us. It'll be alright for you and your little one.
I'm 35 I had my 1st baby, 5 months ago, I was considered high risk because of my age, everything else throughout my pregnancy was great. My baby was 6 pounds 8oz and 19 inches. She was a tiny baby. You will be just fine girl
I literally went through the exact same thing in my pregnancy. I was 31 when I got pregnant (32 when I gave birth). They told me the same thing “she’s small, she isn’t growing like she should. You’re high risk” they also said my baby’s head was small. I had to do the same appointments but I did mine once a week until I gave birth(literally gave birth the next day). All I could think was God knew exactly how this kid had to come out and He knew how I was freaking out over having to get her out that way. So I say my daughter understood the assignment. Start off small THEN get bigger on the outside lol!
Darryl Hannah is in her 60's, first pregnancy and had 2 healthy twins. You are lucky to get this chance to see your baby twice a week. Just listen to your body and TRUST what its telling you. ❤

I Love how you took it positively on how you have to go twice a week to get checked but that it meant you get to see your baby twice a week. 😭 So Beautiful 😭 I pray all goes well for you and baby❤️
I was always too thin my entire life. Had my first child at 19. They said she’d be 10+ lbs. Drs are often wrong. She was born naturally and 7lb 13 ozs. Praying for a healthy baby girl.
Praying for your growing family. My niece’s baby was considered in 6th percentile. My niece was born premature but weighed 10 pounds! God got you. 🤲🏼
Welcome to pregnancy after 40... I've had a litter of children my last one being 6 and was my after 40 baby... I went through what your experiencing rn... my heart goes out to you... you'll watch her grow through ultrasound... and that's the best! The images they get these days.... prayers mama!
I had my one and only child 3 days before my 40th birthday. I gained all the weight, he was small. He’s now 12 and one of the tallest in his class, honor roll and gifted. The only problem I had was postpartum pre-eclampsia, which I didn’t even know was a thing. Take care of you, mama.
Chill and let chill. My mom was 43 when I was born. It was a great relationship.
My mother had me in her late thirties and my brother in her forties and we are still doing well 50 years later. You and the baby will be alright. God's got you.
Prayers for a healthy baby and mommy! You got this. God's got you !!
No, doctors have her.
You got this… I had two beautiful healthy boys and also considered high risk. They love to scare us older women when pregnant, but you can prove them wrong. Enjoy every moment of your pregnancy journey, I loved how proud your body… it is a blessing
Had my geriatric high risk pregnancy at 38 in 2005-2006. I had High blood pressure prior to the pregnancy. It’s just a thing. Lots of ultrasounds-Got to see the baby lots more than other mamas! Praying for you.
Dear Anjelah, just want to wish you and Manwell the best in your pregnancy journey. As wondrous as it will be, not everything that takes place will be easy…but then that’s true of all things worthwhile 🙏
Keeping you & your little one in prayer!! God’s got you both!!!❤
No, doctors have her.
I went through the same thing with my daughter! Stressed me out ! She was born small but she's perfectly healthy! And 4 now and my craziest kid
The Lord has got this! I love the attitude of I get to see her all these extra times! I also went through high risk pregnancies, type 1 diabetic and over 32. Last 1 1/2 trimesters, 2x week check ins. Even when they take you to L&D to check you for 5 hours, it’s an abundance of caution, and even those blessings of being able to get the medical care required was a way for me to be grateful. Praying the lord’s blessings and peace over you and your miracle 🙏
There is no “Lord,” doctors have this.
Kevin, you're obviously a troll. And it's super creepy that you're here, combing the comment thread on a CZcams video of a woman giving a descriptive update on her high risk pregnancy. Most men I know don't spend any free time they have doing that. Get a life.
Congratulations hurray so happy you are having a baby.
Just have faith stay strong.
I had my baby at 42 with all the complications in the world. Starting with diabetes, carpal tunnel, sciatica, water not braking , baby with cord around neck, heart problems ,c section and many many more But at the end all the drama was over and finally delivered a healthy strong baby. Baby is 6 now and giving gray hair. All this to tell you girl if i did it So can you. You that you are beautiful talented and brave. Sending much love and
positive vibes. Your baby girl is going to give you
Sooo much material for your shows she will make you a billionaire.
I had my boy at 19. I gained 45 lbs. I'm 4'11 short. Full term and he was only 4pds 11 oz. God has your back. My son now is a full grown man. You hang in there. You look so beautiful pregnant and that glow.
I had 3 babies, all high risk. I was on blood pressure meds from 11 weeks pregnant on with my 3rd. They all grew to be healthy men. My mom had me at 43, 62 years ago. Hard to go through, God is on your side. Praying for you sweety!
One more thing…. I was 122 lbs at my heaviest @ 5’-4”. Then 198lbs fully pregnant. Fk it. Love yourself always. You are perfect. You are so beautiful. Even if your weight doesn’t go back to your previous normal, you will be just, if not more, beautiful. ❤
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Not on the high risk part, just on the baby.
Prayers for a safe delivery and a healthy baby! 🙏 You got this, girl!
I was 37 when I had my baby ( she’s 23 now)❤ and you are so right. Pregnancy is a trip from start to finish. Being so happy one minute and then worried about something the next. It’s all so worth it but it was hard for me for sure. You will do amazing!❤
Don't worry everything will be fine. My second pregnancy everytime they saw me they told me my son was too small. He weigh 5 pounds 2 ounces. Very healthy. Don't worry better if she's small. You don't want a big baby either. Will be praying for both of you. Blessings.
With all that testing and scrutiny, if they haven’t found anything wrong yet, that is EXCELLENT news!! Enjoy your petite daughter ❤❤❤❤❤
You, Manny and baby girl are in our prayers. ❤️🙏
Praying for you and the little one! I'm 41 and expecting my first baby as well, so I can relate to some of the things you said and pray with all my heart for both of you.
I’ve had 6 babies and two of them had some monitoring needed- which turned out to be nothing. But EVEN IF your baby is small, you can be so thankful for the medical advances to help these babies grow into healthy, normal children. Blessings to you!
You have become my favorite comedian. I'm so excited for you and your family ❤ I will be sending up Prayers for you and baby girl 👶 🤰 🙏🫂🌹

I love you. I'm really glad they're monitoring you. The more information, the better! Prayers and love to you and your family.
This is your first lesson to trust you Mama instincts. You are doing all the things, stay in your good flow. Ultra sounds can be very inaccurate. I had my daughter at 43, I was also considered a geriatric pregnancy and then the doctor said the baby was getting too big. She was born 6lbs 7 oz a week after her due date, super healthy. They expected her to be 8 lbs… not even close! We just celebrated her second bday! You’re doing great mama keep up the good work! 💗
Dear Angela, I had kids at 22, 26, 30, and 37. Their weights were all over the place. My youngest was only 6 lbs 19 inches, now he’s about 6’ and could lose a few like his mom. 😁. This baby is blessed by God and will be just fine. Hugs to you and your hubby.
I had my daughter at 34 and baby was small 5 pounds and 19 ounces and she was a bundle of joy happy little baby, have faith and everything will be alright…..

Congrats on your pregnancy. Just do what you feel like doing and that's it. If you feel like sleeping all day then do it! Once that baby is born you may not be sleeping as much. My daughter also had a small baby during her pregnancy but he's almost 18 months old now and doing great. Good luck to you. Can't wait to see baby pics. ❤❤
I was 43 when I finally had my first successful pregnancy, with so many risk factors including tumors made larger by earlier miscarriages. My daughter is everything you would want in a child. The key to why you feel beautiful now: your husband is always reinforcing your beauty, in or out of pregnancy. When the baby is born, then your child joins into the reinforcement of feeling beautiful. That's what choosing a great partner means.
Sending prayers and love ❤️ Many of my Catholic friends have babies until almost 50 so don’t let them make you think you’re too old. One of my close friends had her first totally natural at 41❤

They told me the same thing when I was 37 weeks pregnant with my daughter. She was 5lbs 1oz when she was born a couple days later. She is now a very healthy (still petite) 15 year old. No health issues at all. Just small. Which, being 4'11" myself, I can say isn't really a bad thing. 😊
YOU got this! Only positive energy. God bless you and your baby girl. Love & prayers.
I feel it in my soul she is going to be fabulous. 🙏
When I had my son, he was measuring tiny. They assumed their calculations were wrong and made me go 2 weeks overdue. He was born "green" and had meconium in the amniotic fluid. He also had a shorter than normal umbilical cord. Otherwise he was perfectly healthy. He was a scrawny 5 lbs 13 Oz. He looked like a little alien. All arms and legs. He stayed little for years. He's now 28 and 5' 11". My daughter was measuring the same as my son and thankfully they just said, "oh, she must just have little babies," and didn't make me go over due. She was also born 5 lbs 13 oz. She didnt stay small for long and filled out and was a chunky baby and grew out of baby sized clothes quickly. She is now 22 and 5' 6" (I'm 5' 4"). I hope this might ease your mind a bit. Wishing you much happiness and a healthy baby!
Congrats! Praying you have smooth rest of your pregnancy.
As another “geriatric” mama (rude!), remember that the category is automatic. The ‘high risk’ would have been slapped on y’all regardless; it has been for every ‘older’ mom I know, including me x2.
You are EXACTLY right, enjoy the heartbeat and extra pics!
Docs have a tendency to err on the side of caution, and also think by categorizing us they’ve covered their butts. Try to listen to your own gut, we usually know what’s up intuitively. Nurses seem to have better understanding and are your advocate throughout. Find one you click with in OB/GYN clinic.
Are you shopping for maternity clothes?? Way more comfortable! Made to accommodate prego belly, boobs, and nursing after.
💖I’ll tell you the best advice I ever received while prego;
Swim!!! Get in a pool and walk, do lunges, move. You will have an easier birth and recovery.
When you’re tired? Rest!!! The baby is getting what she needs from you right now. That’s why you are tired. Listen to your body.
You are so beautiful! Know that you aren’t alone, and that everything will be alright mama.
You’re amazing even in the midst of the torturous 3rd trimester praying for y’all
Here's hoping everything comes out OK and no complications. And the reason you feel beautiful is because you are beautiful.
Everything is going to be alright, keep doing the right thing for you and baby! I gained 70 pounds my first pregnancy! Nothing but the best for you and family!
She is just showing you your in for a feisty little girl! Congratulations. God has plans for this special girl! ❤️
Wishing you all the love and support for your pregnancy journey! I had my second child at 37, and she came out perfectly fine. There are so many women having children in their forties today. Prenatal care is so much more advanced than before. I think it’s normal to be concerned because it’s your first baby. It’s all new and exciting. Our bodies change so much. You will be fine. Your have great care, a wonderful husband, and supportive family. I wish you all the best and can’t wait to see your precious baby girl!! Much love to you❤️❤️❤️
I had them tell me the same thing in really concerned tones and then pretty quickly tell me she needed to be removed, for no real reason. Turns out, she just needed to stay where she was longer and come out naturally when she was ready. The inducement didn't help her out myself and she was healthy and is super smart and fully perfect. Even tho she was a week and a half early and only 5.13. You got this, your baby got this. God got this. We're all praying for you. Can't wait to hear the next updates

Anj, Mine was a 'high risk' pregnancy at 36, because my blood work showed as pre-menapalsal. Plus I didn't know I was pregnant until 22 weeks due of irregular/irradic periods. Plus I had only son was 22 months old at her birth. Don't stress over being 'high risk,' it is a term for: be extra cautious, take care, eat good stuff, walk, 🙏.
My husband and I have been fans of yours for years! We just love you! So happy for you and Manny. Love the way you are sharing your Faith, and, your reliance on God. Praying for an easy last few weeks of your pregnancy. I was told things by the doctor about my third child, and, I told them not to worry, our baby was fine. She was and is, and, is now 29 years old, a college graduate, working in her field! Very smart, very healthy, no worries. So, I think you have the right attitude. May God bless you and Manny and Baby! :)
