    Please do a video on the 16-inch Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro and the 360 2-in-1 version of the same laptop as well! Would love to hear your thoughts on the 16-inch offering from Samsung as well as which model between the regular one and the 360 2-in-1 version is best for which kind of user/use case

    • @VladdyDaddy369
      @VladdyDaddy369 Před 28 dny +3

      I'll chime in really quickly since I ordered and had both at the same time. The regular is obviously not foldable and doesn't have the pen support. It is slightly lighter and felt thinner when holding both from the front. The 360 has two hinges which are visible when the laptop is closed. The regular has one long hinge which is completely hidden with lid closed and feels a little tighter which I liked. I was leaning towards the regular but for some reason all the edges on the regular are noticeably sharper than on the 360 where they are a little more rounded and smoother. I mean, it was really noticeable in my hands when pick it up especially the speaker cutouts at the bottom on both sudes as well as the bottom left and right corners with the lid open.... I ended up keeping the 360 (for now) until I find something similar with a better keyboard and less comicly-oversized trackpad. It has been great for media consumption and normal everyday use. Extremely quiet, I forget it even has fans.
      Edit: one thing about the keyboard, I really do like how the back lights only come through the keys and not around them.

    • @daoanson
      @daoanson Před 22 dny +1

      @@VladdyDaddy369 I ended up choosing the 360! However, I’ve noticed a small nitpick issue about the Galaxy book 4 Pro 360 that can get annoying very quickly. The function key lock isn’t permanently on so you have to turn it on every single time you boot the computer on, so the volume and brightness controls on the function row aren’t on by default every time you boot the computer. Do you have any suggestions for keeping function lock permanently enabled?

    • @VladdyDaddy369
      @VladdyDaddy369 Před 22 dny +1

      @@daoanson Yeah, I know what you mean, it's a little annoying. Haven't figured out a permanent lock, just need to do Fn + F12 after start up. Btw, under touchpad settings, you can choose the four-finger gesture for volume control, I feel that is way more convenient.

  • @motdanny
    @motdanny Před 28 dny +2

    I had no fan noise and no noticable keyboard temperature on mine. Returned it as the touchscreen stopped working after 2 weeks. The HP power settings software is awful (luckily for Asus someone created g helper) and the SSD isn't easily replaceable as the drive needs the HP partition on it to enable bios updates. It isn't a good device for streaming using moonlight and sunshine either as the higher than normal power limitations cause frame drops at native 120fps. The keyboard and trackpad were great as well. In short loads of issues but fan noise, temperature, keyboard and trackpad weren't in the list.

    Hi Josh, what do you think of the yoga pro 7i? Is it too good to be true with rtx 4050 and ultra 7 considering the smaller formfactor? If the thermals ans fan noise are alright, it would be a pretty solid device. Especially if you prefer the slightly bigger 14.5" screen, no?

    Thanks for the review Josh. I'm a light, casual user, currently use the GB4P 360 16", absolutely despise the trackpad and keyboard but really do enjoy everything else about it, especially the less reflective AMOLED screen and being able to use my tab S9 as the second screen. Intel Arc is plenty for me so I tried this HP laptop with Arc but it was only available with the IPS screen which was pretty bad. I wish I could have the GB4P 360 with the Spectre keyboard (no number pad). I keep on looking at Lenovo models but every one of their 16-inch models has the number pad which throws everything off center and just drives me crazy. I'm starting to think that maybe I would need to go down the 14-inch route to meet all the criteria but I really like the bigger screen size. Wondering if you have any thoughts. Thanks
    Edit: Really looking forward to seeing your opinion on the new Yoga Slim 7X in a few weeks.

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England Před 27 dny +1

      Yes, my Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 keyboard and trackpad are awful. People who get used to it or have never used alternatives may be okay, but when you have used a Macbook, it is prominent how bad Samsung has made these keyboards. As for numpads, I hate them. They add nothing to me and make me less productive. Samsung, give me a 16-inch with a Macbook layout.
      As you say, the Galaxy's screen is bliss, and the durability and quality are exceptional, but if you want to get work done and make it a pleasant experience, then the Book3 Pro360 has failed me, and I will be off this device until Samsung changes.

    Counterpoint:
    After looking at all the other options none offered what I needed:
    All day battery life for university, 16 inch because 14" laptops don't fit in my lap and I need a bigger screen for programming, a graphics card to game when traveling, and most importantly a decent pen to take notes for formulas and diagrams (no I can't keep up in a lecture using LaTeX).
    This is the perfect obsidian note taking & programming device with light gaming on the side. The sound is much better than the book 4 pro 360 (which has a glass screen that has a tendency to crack, look it up; I had to return it because the screen would bend when moving it with one hand, and they removed the ability to add Samsung care after the purchase on only their laptops, wonder why)

      Take some precautions, and some OEMs have software to nullify this. Hopefully, OEMs will follow Apple, as when they tested Samsung OLED displays, they failed their tests. So Apple developed Tandem OLED (iPad Pro), two panes that effectively double the display's life. We should start seeing this on laptops (Dell may be the first). I would wait for that.

    Yeah, I wasn’t very impressed with HP’s specs for this model, either. Kind of bewildering they chose to do that with one of their more premium devices. But it is just another example of the “greed cycle”, the entire economy has been in. Pump out subpar product offerings, and charge a premium for them. 2024 is probably going to be a year to hold off on not only a laptop purchase, but any major purchase.

    You guys gave an overwhemingly positive review for Omen Transcend 14. The intel Ultra 7 155H advertises it's clock speed to boost upto 4.6 GHz, but in Omen Transcend 14 it only boosts upto max 3.3 GHz along with reaching 98 c temps after which it throttles back to 3 GHz, 71 c. Now I know the power delivery is limited to 140 W, but i was atleast expecting it to boost to 3.6 / 3.8 GHz while maintaining 60-70 c temps. This processor is not even as good as the U series of i7 13th gen and amd ryen 7.
    It was a close to perfect laptop for me who wants to just do light gaming while i can take this portable laptop to work which requires better single core performance with atleast 3.5 GHz for smoother operation.
    I was close to make the purchase but thankfully i did'nt. It's just not worth the price. You can basically get Omen 16 Ryzen 9 7940HS along with rtx 4070 8 GB for the same price but not as better cooled or portable though. Bummer. HP should have just gone with AMD cpu ...

    Oh Josh, we should call this channel. The just buy the Lenovo Pro 9i and Mac Book Pro 16 channel. Look, all of this is just chatter until the new Snapdragon chips come out. Until we know how it actually performs on real computers, we should not be buying any of these computers. These new computers will destroy the Mac Book Air 15. As for video editing, let's try DaVinci Resole on the on the new Samsung Edge before making assumptions. I'm sure they would not be porting this to arm if they felt it couldn't handle it. And i know you will say it, but it doesn't have a separate GPU, but neither did the base m1 pro, and it did fine. It may have powerful encode/decode abilities. As for AAA gaming, buy a proper gaming computer, i.e., the G 16 4080 or higher. Look forward to your reviews of the upcoming Snapdragon machines. By the way my wife has the 16 inch 360 Samsung just turn down touchpad sensitivity and it won't be a problem.

      But in the here and now or for the last 4-6 months, the Lenovo and Macbook have been the best 16-inch laptops. As you say, the Galaxy Book Edge will be another choice, but that is still 18 days away. The problem with the X-Elite, and why you do not see single-core or GPU benchmarks, is that they are significantly worse than the M3 Pro (and Max, obviously). I see no reason why the MB Pro 16 M3 Pro will still be a better choice than the Book Edge, with good discounts by Apple at resellers (Amazon £270 off). A new M4 is coming soon (Q4), as well as new, improved Intel and AMD chips, so I would not get too excited by the X-Elite as it barely beats what is around now and will be easily trumped in Q4.

    Josh, I always like your reviews, but I think you're focusing too much on synthetic benchmarks. The 4050 is powerful enough for most users, including creators editing images and FHD to 4K video (lightly to medium, at least). The other quality-of-life benefits and upgrades are being ignored, like an excellent haptic trackpad, improved speakers, and chassis rigidity. However, the warmness and fan noise are correctly pointed out.
    I think we should encourage Windows OEMs moving in this direction after lagging behind for so long from Apple.

    • @JustJoshTech
      @JustJoshTech  Před 28 dny +2

      I appreciate this but 1) We actually video edited on this laptop. It's performance was atrocious. Please keep in mind that we use these laptops for their intended use cases. 2) The haptic trackpad has significant palm rejection issues. Just being haptic does not make it ready for prime time. At the end of the day, when you use 100 laptops like we do, side by side... there are ones that just clearly stick out as winners and then others as loosers. This doesn't mean that the Spectre won't be perfect for some. Everyone's use case is different. But for the vast majority, there are better laptops for the price

    Tbh, I am disappointed with this review and to some extent JJ has lost credibility with me. I have a HP Pavilion dv6 (old laptop) and till date it is working fabulously and has one of the best keyboards I've every typed on. So, yea - disappointed with Just Josh.

      @JustJoshTech  Před 27 dny +2

      You are spot on re our focus on real world use.
      In this review, the big issue is that we used it. This video's conclusions were not made due to benchmark results. They were made because we have all the 16inch laptops in. We used them all for real world tasks. The Spectre 16 was one of the weakest. Now... the Spectre 14 is a completely different device with different competitors. For example, it competes more closely to the MacBook Air or another laptop without dedicated graphics. The Spectre 16 though competes with ones with dedicated graphics. It's here where it falls apart. It is one of the hottest feeling (in real world use) and yet it's the least powerful. So yes. We do like the Spectre 14, alot. We do not feel the 16 is worth it. There are better options out there for most buyers.
