Yeah, a similar truck floored it through almost 3 feet of water on another video and was fine. I guess you need to know exactly where the intake is.
He could have taken the alternate route which is about 3 miles
I feel sorry for the first truck. He drove very slowly, with very little wave + water height and it still got damaged.
The air scoop must be really high up on those Teslas 🤔😉
Hi all from Ireland 🇮🇪, we had torrential downpour yesterday here in Wexford, flooding took out at least 30 vehicles, some people trapped in cars and had to be rescued, all in about space of an hour, 30mm rain if I recall right.
The 1st pick I see of a recovery truck and guess what's on the back......

Not cuestioning IVECO, because I cant ... but .... it is a comercial / work vehicle ... and they are always treated like crap .... why put the intake low ?????????? It is a TRUCK !!!!! (lorry).

Yeah, electric cars can go through it any number of times without issue. Only two things to watch out for really.
1. Too fast and the water pressure will force parts of the car off (usually the bumpers or number plate)
2. Water can also get into the AC inlet which can cause damp and unpleasantness within the cabin over time.

People drive slowly and tentatively at the start.. and everything goes well... so then, because it's going so well, they speed up and get ahead of the bow wave so they drown it lol.
That poor semi driver tried so hard to not screw things up. If anyone deserves to drive away free of problems it was him.

That Iveco must have had cracked air cleaner box or a split in the inlet tract coming from it, the intake itself is much higher up than where the water reached. Unlucky!
The first Iveco ... was really wild .... He will keep driving it and pretend that nothing happened. Also, the first Peugeot SUV .... I could hear Jeremy shouting: "MANIAC !!!"
Airbox on the iveco is under the drivers door step, I may have done the same thing, truck was OK, on cold days it used to smoke and clatter for the 1st half minute of running then clear out
This is why our insurance is so expensive lol
Driving through a ford that is closed or avoidable might invalidate your insurance

It's probably very much the same under the bonne (hood) as my two Golfs, with the air intake just at the top of the grille, just behind the lip of the bonnet. If so, and he'd have gone much faster to create a bow wave over the bonnet, then he would have been in trouble.
@@grahamj9101 it was me driving through. I'd disconnected the intake at the air filter to go through which sits at the very top of the engine. Rear brake shoes appear to be nakkard today though!
@@LEERILEY33 my octavia 2 also has a sort of front intake which could suck water in, but the airbox itself is positioned high and close to the firewall.

have you got any footage of the ford dry so we can get to look at the bottom of it and see how some people find the river a better option then the road to drive on
The Google street view of the Ford isn't dry, but the water is lower than I've seen it in any of the videos. You can see the roadway and river bed pretty well.

The ford is really never dry. It is a stream that flows over the road. In the summertime, you can walk across it. During and after heavy rains, it floods.
I'm beginning to wonder if Rainworth Water has been dammed downstream of the bridge to raise the water level at the ford.

Again, not knowing where the air intake is on your vehicle is costing people £1,000s.
To the company, they will park at at the end of the day. The next day other crew will pick it up, they will probably have some knockings all over that came from "nowhere".
The Rangers all acquitted themselves well. They may have oil pumps made of chocolate and dreadful EGR setups but at least Ford managed to get a decent wading depth.
