Chanel lock pillers works well too, no heating of water
I have been usuing hand towels that I get from the dollar store for years. Thank you for the cap trick.

There is a warning to be added here. Detaching and reattaching the cleaning solution will only work for a short while until the motor gets rusted and freezes. Each time you reattach the cleaning bottle, small needles poke through the rubber cover so that the solution can be pumped to the floor. However the second time you refill your container, new holes are punched. As a result, the motor will eventually freeze due to the solution running down into the mechanism. I've ruined two Swifters this way. A better solution would be to never remove the cleaning solution container and cut a hole in the top to refill it and tape it shut so it won't splash out. However you will always have to keep your mop upright forever and ever.
Happened to me!
I've been refilling mine for about 5 years and never had this problem
@@rebeccarambo2893 if they worked for swifter, theyâd discourage refilling the bottles in favour of buying new ones.
Pro tip sir. Thank you for your service
Wouldnât the needles go in the same holes?
dollar tree has a re-attachable pad that works perfect with it and right size -- just $1
Pretty awesome!! I haven't seen them at my local Dollar Tree yet. Maybe in the future! Although I've been using the same pad for years.
Thanks!
Do you have a picture
Just went to dollar tree today and the pad is blue itâs where the cleaning supplies are :)
Thank youN
Woo hoo! This did the trick! 90 seconds never worked but the 2 minutes did. I can't believe Swifter doesn't sell refillable bottles.
Because they make money off of the refills, not the mop itself. It's called the disposable razor strategy. You know how printers are super cheap but the ink is really expensive? It's the same thing. Make the main product cheap but the essential refills expensive to get your money back.
@@JJoda thanks captain
Do you do this with the bottle empty or I can do it with a brand new bottle?
@@andreaabrego2470 I did it empty but I'm sure it would work full. The point is to heat the plastic top hot enough for it to soften, but not melt, the twist top. It heats faster empty.

You really hit đŻ. Tks for sharing.
"Stick it to the man!" Thanks!! I needed that laugh đđ!
YEAH JENNY JUST FILLED UP MY BOTTLE WITH PINSOLLLLLLLL AYYYYYYEEEE
Good one never thought about Pine sol great scent !
Worked for me. I bought a small bottle of fabulouso at dollar tree for 1.00. Refilled for around .05 - .10. I boiled some water and stuck the cap in it for 30 seconds and the cap came right off. Sure beats paying $5 per bottle for a refill. Thanks so much.
Make that dollar stretch! Love Dollar Tree. đ
This ain't even being frugle. It's just smart.
I use a microfiber towel from the Dollar Tree. I cut it in half and it sticks well to the Velcro of the mop head. My squirter stopped working so I just filled up a spray bottle (again from Dollar Tree) with a mixture of water and white vinegar. I mop by having the mop in one hand and the spray bottle in the other, spraying the floor ahead of the mop. Works like a charm!
I've been living on my own recently whilst paying way to much rent (cause there is no other option). These tips are absolutely golden to save money. Thanks! :)
Omg!!! I've refused to purchase a wet jet due to the expense of the refills. I had one years and years ago and couldn't figure out how to refill the bottle. After seeing your video, i tried it and IT WORKED!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. What a blessing.
My Mom and I have been trying to figure out how to refill these bottles for years now. About to save so much money thanks to you!
You being excited about it easily opening is making me very excited lol!! âš thank you!
Hahaha! Did you try it yet?
@@PinchAPennyWithJenny i watched the original video Wheres the link? . Im so existed too about to boil water for that darn cap and look for that 1 sock .The other is in the Land of lost socks. đ
Thank you for this video! I had a few bottles to try a few different boiling times and was able to easily twist it off at 10 seconds of boiling. I'd recommend people to try to increment upwards from there if they have some moderate grip strength.
I tried a hair dryer and only take less than a minute to open . Thank you for the idea đđœ
This hairdryer trick works also and much easier, but thanks out to Jenny for making this video! Isn't she adoreable? What a cute attitude. I've been trying to figure this out for years. đ€Ł

Omg it worked! I have been wanting to refill at home for MONTHS! I reuse pads already but I hate buying refills! I boiled for 1 min and it worked! Tysm!! â€ïž
What do you refill it with
@@vince1312 Use 1 cup vinegar, 1 cup water and a few drops of your dish washing soap like dawn. You can also substitute or add things like baking soda I saw in another video.
Thanks for the tip. What I also did was use an utility knife to cut the rest of the "teeth" off the white cap. Probably didn't really need to, but, for certain there won't be anymore issues with them locking the cap any longer.
Just did it and it worked! Thank you so much!!! I just used hot water from my sink and let it sit for 3 minutes, I had to turn it pretty hard but it worked! Iâm so happy!
nothing can replace a good industrial mop&bucket đȘŁ
Channel locks got the job done in 3 seconds đ
Thank you so much for this video!!!! I am so tired of spending money on these refills or forgetting to restock on extras. It's so expensive!! Can't wait to see more video from you.
Thank you so much, I knew there was a way around it. I found the pads that I rewash, but still use the disposable ones for the bathrooms, now the liquid cleaner I have tried so many ways to add my own cleaner in those bottles because like you said they are not cheap. So thank you you
If there's a way to put the cap on, there must be a way to take it off! haha.
I boiled my bottle for 2 minutes, and it worked like a charm. Thanks!
This was a great tip; thanks, Jenny :). I modified it a bit by just cutting off the locking rim. You can do this with a utility knife (just be careful) or any other means on or off the bottle. This will make the bottle refillable without having to do anything like this again. This will prevent the cap from warping due to multiple heatings (if needed), preventing leaks.
Thanks for the recommendation! I had a hard time taking the cap off, (bad grip) so as soon as I got it off I cut them
My daughter told me your trick how to boil the top and removed.. We also my husband anyway use an X-Acto knife to take out the little plastic blocking parts. I've use this for quite some time and haven't had any trouble with my Swiffer stopping to work. Funny story to add, we had a cousin who had a swiffer and she called me one day and said her swiffer stop working and it would've been difficult for her to buy a new one. So I said to her, did you change the batteries? And it was funny. She had no idea that it needed batteries! So I wonder if the person who originally threw out that Swiffer that you found maybe didn't know it took batteries either! As far as reusable pads, go, every time I use my swiffer, the pads are extremely filthy. So I don't think I would want to use a cloth swiffer pad replacement. I've actually been buying some swiffer type pads at a local grocery store. I should check I suppose what I pay for them. Probably I paid less than the brand name ones and probably more than the dollar store which is now the dollar and a quarter store. However sometimes you get less amount than you normally would at the $ store then if you paid a little bit more at another place
This was exactly my idea! Great minds think alike! Glad to know it worked.
I don't know what i liked more the hack or seeing how excited you where Well done
Dennis
Ha! I also got my Swiffer from the trash. I actually got most of my vacuums from the trash and refurbished them. Mostly they only need cleaning and maybe a rollerbrush or belt. Oh, I'm a professional office cleaning service. Thanks for the video. It was a pleasure watching you!
It works!!! Only took 90 seconds and I was able to untwist the cap easily! Thank you so much!
I love your enthusiasm! I was considering purchasing one and will be going to get myself one now
Nice job. I just this second put it together and went thru a bunch of the pads they give in in just my kitchen! So I'm totally going to do both of your hacks. Thanks!
Omg đ± I just tried this and I canât believe it worked!! Iâm so excited to add my own cleaner! Thank you so much! Still works in 2022!!
I literally cut a hole in my swiffer bottle earlier today, filled the bottle, plugged the hole with a paper towel and covered it with tape. We are mind twins. I was just on Amazon looking for a legit reusable bottle that fits the swiffer and one reviewer said to look on CZcams and here I am. Wow.
How do you cut a hole in it? The plastic is so hard.
Thank you, I love my stiffer wet jet and tired of buying the refills. And this will save me money and I can add my own cleanser.
You were the first video I clicked on looking up how I can open the cap, because like you, I knew there had to be a way to open it. My first try was not a success I ruined the seal so I THANK YOU for this great share and now will be following you for more great shares! To save that $$$:)... Your enthusiasm and smile make your videos very welcoming! :)
Glad you were able to open it!! đđ
Thanks for the tip. I've used the Libman Freedome Spray mop which costs a little less that swiffer wetjet and uses a re-fillable reservoir and does NOT require batteries to spray cleaning fluid. My last one lasted five years before the spray mechanism broke down, but I consider a good value since it was used almost daily
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I just got a Swiffer Jet & ordered the pads. I usually mop & use Dollar Tree items but that would have been useless without the bottle hack. Have a great dayâŒïž
Just tried this. After soaking for 2 minutes it popped right off! So excited about this!
Yep, it worked & then I read warrenkatoâs post when I noticed the little hole & water squirting out. Guess I will always keep my bottle separate so I donât flood & kill the motor & eventually will opt for the hole at the top approach when it gets too holeyâŠ. Always unintended consequences lolâŠ. Thanks for the hack tho đ
I can't believe it works!!! Yes! Thank you.
I kept seeing these videos about how to release the cap. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me. This was my last straw video. What your video explains thatt the others do not is why the cap is stuck on and explaining why the boiling works. When you said there is an adhesive under the cap, a light clicked on. As soon as you explained it hadn't worked for you until you left it in the boiling water for nearly 3 minutes, I knew it was going to work, following your advice! I wish I had watched your video first, that way I wouldn't have a shredded finger from using all my might to force the world's strongest adhesive loose. I was so proud of myself when I finally got it! đ thank you so much!! Life changing...
Wooohoooo!! That's awesome! I admire the perseverance haha.
Thank you for sharing, I have so many disinfectant liquid large bottles i can dilute & use. Itâll save me so much!!
Love this! I mop daily now that I have a Swiffer Wet mop. I prefer the smaller bottle that came with it, it's lighter overall. Refilling today!
Great point! Iâm still on that first bottle and looks like itâll be my only one!
I just bought a Swiffer Wet Jet Kit a few days ago. (I had a $25.00 gift card from Office Depot -- the price was $24.99, so other than paying some tax on it, I basically got it for free). I used it for the first time this morning. Wow -- I'm not even done mopping all of the tile floors yet and that pad was D-I-R-T-Y! I can see the wisdom of having reusable pads because I will be going through them fast. Thanks so much for the "hacks" Jenny! I'm almost 62 years old and I'm just now experiencing the Swiffer Duster and the Swiffer Wet Jet. I'm more than a little late to the party here, but I'm glad I found these wonderful things! I'm also a frugal person and I just subscribed to your channel. I'm looking forward to watching many more of your videos! :)
Thank you for this! Other videos didnât show me the locking part that you explained so clearly. I was finally able to open mine and make my own solution!
Awesome! What was your solution that you came up with?
I live abroad and can't buy Swiffer products, but mopping the 200 year old house I'm in is exhausting. Finally shipped in a Swiffer dry mop, WetJet and duster all with reusable cloths I got from Amazon. I just finished my first large bottle of Swiffer branded fluid and tried this. I boiled water, poured the boiling water into a cup, set a timer for 2 mins, held the cap portion of the bottle in the water and unscrewed it with a towel covering my hands. Worked like a charm! Am so stoked that I don't have to ship refills in.
You're awesome. Thank you, all this info delivered with a beautiful smile too.
I just discovered this video! What a game changer, thanks Jenny!
YOU ARE GREAT! I Love your bubbly personality. Just bought one and was searching on how to use it and found your video with great ideas. thanks
So nice of you to also include the link to the original video! đ„°đ„°đ„°
I have tried this so, so many times without any luck. It hurt my hand (I had surgery about a month or so ago. I finally put the water back in the microwave and when I saw it was boiling, I took it out & stuck the bottle in, let it sit for a bit and tried it. I could feel it move a bit which gave me the determination to keep twisting and it worked!! Now I'm going to try the smaller bottle. Ugh! I guess I'll stick with the bottle that opened for now. đđđ
I love my Swiffer mop. I've refilled my bottle like that for a while. That's how I learned how to refill my bottle. It's a life saver especially in my back since I have back issues..
Yes, the Swiffer Wet Jet is pretty good on the back (as good as a "mop" can be anyway haha)! That's one of the reasons why I prefer it over a "traditional mop," where I need to bend over a bathtub to wring all the water out. It's exhausting! But with the Swiffer Wet Jet, it's so much more effortless. đ
Yes, it sure is good on the back. I have 3 smashed vertabrae in my back so I love it on my back
Iâm not super frugal, but my (young) child walked though a missed spot of solution on the floor yesterday and despite whipping it off and a bath, this morning the bottoms of their feet were covered in mustard yellow splotches. Itâs something weâve encountered before with an unwashed pair of shoes our child had worn and whatever chemicals they use to prevent molding while in warehouses (probably formaldehyde). Anyways, I donât want to use the solution anymore but didnât want to go out and buy a whole new system. Obviously, I couldnât get the lid off and went in search for a video that had some insight, which brought me here. I just heated a warm pot of water for a few minutes, turned off the burner stuck the bottle in the pot and left it there for a few minutes while I did other things, and the lid twisted off, no problem. Thank you this. It was a big help.
P.s. if anyone else encounters the yellow spot thing on their kids feet, after washing, hydrogen peroxide and anti fungal cream. Works like a charm.
Just did this with my empty swiffer bottle and it worked perfectly! Thanks so much
Omg it worked. Thanks Jenny for sharing the hack
Totally worked!! I only left it in the boiling water for 30 seconds. Thanks
Great hack! Have a wet jet which I love but itâs soooo expensive to replace the pads and cleaning liquid. This is great.
It worked! I was shocked. Yep, I can confirm, it works.
Thank you...I was about to put a hole on that till I saw this video. Save my time...very cool. Thanks again.
$1 (+) store has the most perfect pads that fit. I love this!!
Both things worked perfectly..especially the hack..thanks!!
Thanks so much for this! I got mine from a thrift store n love it! Totally trying the bottle refill now!
this is really brilliant info; I'm a guy and now the Swiffer seems interesting to me thanks to these really big improvements to their initial locked-down "ecosystem"
It works, boiled the bottle for 90 seconds and the top came off! Thank you so much
My first swifter wet jet. I like that hack to open the bottle. Thank you so muchđ
Omg thankyou so much for sharing this. My daughter just tried it and it worked. Appreciate the tip.
Thank you for this great tip. Nothing wrong with picking up things that are in good condition.
Totally!! Iâve found so many treasures in the trash. đ
My God, you saved my pocket. I bought 20$ worth of extra wet jet bottles. After they are used I will keep the last bottle, use your hack and leave your hack in my dying will to pass on to my loved ones forever. Will beat this company for a million dollars forever
Its about time the little guy gets a break from the big monopoly Wet Jet had on us
Going right now to buy one! Thanks girl :)
Thank God! I was upset about having to buy these refills. Now I have a few bottles I can refill.

Thanks for the hack. It works fantastically!
OMG I was over here fashioning extremely sketchy looking syringes from old pens before I stopped to think hmmm... I bet someone else has beat me to this. Thank GOODNESS for you and the original video maker!!!
Hahaha!!!! I had thought about the pen thing too...or maybe even poking a hole and taping it shut. Glad we didn't do that. :D
Pinch a Penny with Jenny yes! I was just getting ready to drill a hole when I started worrying about the pressure being the same inside the bottle when I decided to look it up lol. I actually saw from your video how tiny the locking notches were and knew I could force them to bend! I took a thick 1/4â rubber band to get a grip, put a towel over it to give more to grab and kept twisting and it came off!!
I actually bought reuseable pads in Dollar Tree. You can add a few drops of essential oils for a scent you like. You can use recharegeable batteries. I do.

@@goreMagala yeah so I filled a pot with hot water. Then let it come to a boil. When the your swifter solution is empty. Put it in the hot water upside down. Cap-side in the water. Let it sit there for 3 min. Then twist. The hot water will loosen the grips.
