    Finally, I was able to purchase my first Edward VI Shilling this year, the pride of my collection, it has a dark lustre but certainly a Very Fine grade in all, I hope to manage a Sixpence to compliment this and it's well worth saving up for the better quality ones, where the portrait literally jumps out at you. Back in 1982 I was offered a similar Shilling for just £45, at the time it seemed like a fortune and I could only gasp in dismay at owning such a beautiful example. This is how long it has taken to actually own one, so don't give up hope, obviously a little more pricier these days, but definitely worth the wait. Many thanks for the delightful posts and information, well appreciated.

      That’s awesome news Ray! They are definitely beautiful pieces and mine is one of the prides of my own collection. Blimey, £45? I bet your first one you bought this year wasn’t anywhere near that! 🤣

    Another great video😃👍. E6 coins don’t come out of the ground very often and the posthumous coins are often mistaken for H8 as you said.

    Very nice coins lad! Yesterday I bought my first Tudor, a Henry VIII half groat 3rd issue. A little corroded but a nice coin

      Thank you! Very nice coin, debased issue so almost always lesser quality 😄

    I got an 1653 commonwealth shilling the other day and that’s the most expensive piece in my collection

      Extremely nice coin and a shilling that is on my list too! I also have a black prince Hardi video coming in the future, stay tuned! 😄

      @@TheHammeredCorner Getting any coins from Edward the black prince is amazing. Anglo Gallic coins are hard to get but very well designed coins.

    That was super interesting. Can you do one on the coinage of HIV and why the coins are os rare in Groat and Half Groat with the history behind it?

      Thank you Chris! I’m slowly making my way through but can prioritise that one for you! I need a Henry IV to show first as I don’t have one... yet! 😉

    This is an outstanding video. An Edward VI shilling is my current bucket list coin, then a lifetime Henry VIII. Can you recommend a book about the Tudors??

      @TheHammeredCorner  Před 2 lety +1

      The private life of the tudors is a good book, or the Tudor coinage by Challis 😃

      @@TheHammeredCorner thank you. I will look for a copy. I’m currently watching the series “Becoming Elizabeth “ and am enjoying it. I don’t know how historically accurate it is but I’m sure there are at least bits of real history.

      @@TheHammeredCorner it’s very well put together and they chose the cast well. The young man that plays Edward VI looks just like his portrait.
