- In this video I go over the process for changing your startup and screen off images on a 3rd generation Tacoma. My instructions are based on the Tacoma but should apply to other Toyota models across the lineup.

Looks like the startup image/screen off image options aren't available on 2022 Tacoma. In apps there is no "settings". ( I didn't install Android auto. Is that the reason?)
Note this does NOT work for the Base Entune. Found on SR's that didn't upgrade
He's doing this on the Entune 3.0

It’s weird my 2021 trd or doesn’t have the customer startup option..
Since the start up screen flashes by so quickly, I see myself mocking up some kind of video game-esque "system loading" screen in a design software specifically for it.
I tried to add a startup image to my truck from a flash drive but everytime I go to transfer images it keeps saying no images found on device but I know it's there why is that? Please help
My tacoma is unable to transfer the photos. I’ve repeated each step multiple times and still cannot get them to transfer.

Mike, is the Tacoma worth the price? I'm thinking about getting a 19 at the end of 2019 in hopes for a good deal. I've got my heart set on a TRD off road. Is that really worth it over a SR5? Please let me know your opinion.
Andrew Prater yes it is 100% worth it! But depending on the $ you want to initially spend you can get a TRD Off Road like mine and have it ready to go or like my Buddy and get an SR or SR5 and get the upgrades you want aftermarket. But ah I love my 3rd gen! I off road and tow and use it for work every day!

screen off image is not functional in my chr koba 2018; im so disappointed. Start up image is all good.
I have the 2019 Toyota C-hr in the General settings I don’t see “ customize screen off image or start up” any ideas why?

How long does the turn off image stay on the screen ? And this will work with a 2019 TRD Off Road Tacoma ?
Also , my screen does not say JBL and I don't think I get an off button as your screen. What year is your Tacoma ?
UPDATE , when thumb drive is installed , it's saying it is not recognizing thumb drive 😑
Same here -- I get a message saying it cannot access the USB drive and to make sure it is plugged in correctly. Duh. It is. Tried reformatting it on my work PC (as opposed to my Mac), but same result. Would be interested in a solution to that issue.

Probably not but I'm not certain what the infotainment system is like on the SR. Worth a try I suppose.

Make sure your USB is FAT formatted. Mine wouldn't read OSX Journaled.

I have a 2021 Off Road. The two options that should be listed under 'General' (Customize Startup Image and Customize Screen Off Image) are not listed. ☹ I do not have the JBL head unit...
The screen on image comes up but not the screen off image. Hmmm
I would have liked a Toyota Taco 4x4. But I cant afford one! Base price for a Taco is like 25k now. and a 4x4, like 30k. And the used one are still pricey. I ended up buying a used Volvo 2016 XC60 T6 All wheel drive for 20k. I like it a lot. But wish I had the means for a 4x4 like this.

anyone have issues with their gauge cluster getting all scratched up even when using a brand new microfiber cloth and the proper screen cleaner? Mine swirled like crazy, does anyone have a legit fix? plastx did not fix the swirls only made them worse and it is driving me nuts. Thanks hope someone here can help me and the taco community with this cheesy issue.

They sell a sticker that hides old scratches and protects it from new ones. Helps with glare too.

The amount of time the startup image stays on the screen is hilariously short.

This is not worth it at all specially addicting the start up image meaningless because it doesn’t even star for sec and I don’t see why anyone would care to see that the car is on. I say Mind boggling. At least the screen off image is a little more functional. You will need to go to setting and select
screen off every time you star the vehicle. Again useless and meaningless at all. Your phone will do just fine for the purpose.
