Dude thank you so much. I couldn’t add any new Bluetooth devices for so long and the Toyota dealership tried to charge me $300 to update! Said it would take at least 2 hours of labor. You are the man for this one

I had the same problem in my 2015 Highlander. Talked to my dealer, and the service writer said he would do some research and call me back. The next day he called me back and found the update. I came on the next day and he installed it for free. So far I haven’t had any issues with the entune system doing a reset while driving.
Woohoo... I have a 3rd gen and I had an update available also. Mine was 168megs. The website said it fixes the random reboot issue I've been having so that's a plus! Thanks!

Toyota in North Hollywood offered to do my 2014 prerunner for free but I never did it because they wanted me to leave it there for hours. I am going to try this file. I had freezing issues using ipod. Thanks Tacomaholic.

I wish my 2014 Unit was in my 2016 Toyota Sienna SE. It's like they went backwards on the navigation, backup camera, etc. Also, I have the Entune app on my phone and does the updates for me for the quite a while now.

Trevor Froese Same here my 2015 has been freezing on me every now and then. I have to reset it two times in a row to get it to work properly I’m hoping when I do this it fixes the problem. Let me know how yours turns out.

@@81JULIO81 I ran update and then replaced the battery last night to an AGM battery. Not sure if the dying battery or the lack of a proper update contributed to the issue but it is good as new now. T🤷♂️👍🌮

They tried to charge 120 for an update in the SLO and Pasadena stealership like 4 years ago. I connect my phone to the entune all the time. For some reason the weather and map update dont work once get to central cali. The map / traffic app sucks though

I think these updates just make the system run smoother versus adding features, etc.

@@Tacomaholic Thanks for digging into this. Unfortunately that did not work. Looks like Toyota no longer supports GraceNote. Dug around on tacomaworld and some other sites and unfortunately getting a GraceNote update may be a dead end.

I wish I could buy a unit out of a 2014 and put it in my 2012 without having to do 4 million different adapters and other things to get the backup camera and bluetooth to work.
I've got a 2015 SR5, it has entune but many of the "apps" like the GPS aren't activated on my system. Will this update be able to work on my truck? Do you know? Thanks!
I think this file is good for any Entune if you don't have the JBL premium setup. Worth a shot since it's free and quick to do.

@@Tacomaholic I learned it's 32-Bit (or the really old 16-Bit can be used too). Although most newly bought thumb drives come formatted 32-Bit by default, when used for transferring files in today's modern computers, the NTFS file system is typically 64-Bit used for today's large media files. Movies, Videos, etc.
I need some advice or help I have a 2012 Tacoma my software currently is 1.7.4 i went to general but doesn’t give me the option to go to software update or update history

Is this still the most current update? I have never updated Entune on my 2017 Tacoma. What are the changes?
I'm not sure for the 3rd Gens, but the updates fix bugs and streamline the system. They aren't adding new features.
What year is your tacoma? Is that the original stereo? I have a 2009 and im currently wanting to swap my stereo for a 2013 model no navigation, but all the other basic stuff being able to change the display color on it and whatnot… and maybe if that is a possible I can also look into swapping the stereo to control the volume.
Mine is a 2014 and yes that is the original head unit.
Does any new software update enable apple CarPlay or does voice commands work better? I kept trying to play a certain song while my phone was plugged in and said music catalogue was loading. I have a 2016 Tacoma.
I believe the updates just resolve small bugs with the system ... nothing big like adding new features.
Can you do a video fixing the Bluetooth signal.. sometimes my Bluetooth gets disconnected randomly and the screen frezees… thank you
I just noticed something else today about my etune update I am now able to dial my cell phone on the radio with the vehicle in motion. Another quirk now fixed.

Has anyone used this download on a 2019 Tacoma? I just purchased mine used and was wondering if this update will work for my truck. For some reason, I can't get the Entune phone app or the Scout phone app to work with my system. Thanks in advance!
I think Toyota discontinued ENTUNE and Scout, my 2018 SR5 no longer has GPS after I restored the radio back to factory default, and the playstore no longer has entune.
Need to mount tasers controlled by dash cam motion sensitivity😄

Hey I wanted to let folks know that on my 2017 SR Tacoma there is a software update for the basic radio without navigation (or with navigation). I ran it tonight on my Tacoma and noticed a bug fixed for inferior sound levels. Thanks for the good info!

I'm not sure to be honest. No updates for my truck so I can't see what it offers.
I have a 2014 tacoma and when I go to the Toyota link listed below to check for updates, it says that there is not one available. Is that another stealership ploy to get me to come in and spend the money, or is there actually a free update in the Dropbox for my truck.
It might be they just stopped updating that system with the release of the 3rd Gens.
Thanks for the info!! I updated my 3rd gen tacoma entune, no navigation. I didnt notice major changes, but i can now dial numbers, scroll down my contacts and call history while moving, before the update my screen would freeze "for security reasons"

Thanks for the video. New subscriber here. An audio related question. I purchased my 15 Tacoma new in Hawaii. The Satellite radio feature was disabled since Satellite radio doesn’t work on the island. I am now back in the Mainland US and am interested in enabling this feature if possible. I made the mistake of updating my 2020 Taco, and now the radio doesn't remember where I left off. If I set the music to USB, then play a song, shut off the engine and turn back on, it gets memory loss and says Audio Off, and doesn't go back to USB. AND the phone memory storage forgets my favorites, but the radio presets stayed. What a royal Pain!!
Did this process updated navigation map? Updating Entune was easy through app but not sure about maps. 2015 taco.

All of those settings are dependent on the head unit that your truck came with.
Question ? Are u able to see videos on the main screen Radio?
I haven't tried but most car manufacturers have the head units programmed so they won't allow videos to be played while the vehicle is moving. I'm sure there is a way around that though.
My ENTUNE works butter smooth so I’m hesitant to update lol

Thanks Charlie! I have a weather tab on the actual screen. There are several different versions of the Toyota head unit though and some don't have that feature.
I have the weather but it NEVER works. It’s literally worked the day I bought it like a month ago and I saw it work like 3 days ago randomly 🤷🏾♂️

I cant get my phone to connect and also tried to connect the usb and it didnt recognize the usb either. Not too sure what is going on. Any tips? I have deleted all other phones connected to the truck. I got my phone to connect momentarily but, has never been able to anymore.
Check here first to see if there's a specific update for your truck: securedp.toyota.com/download-app/getUpdates If an update there doesn't fix those issues you might try disconnecting your battery for an hour or so and that MIGHT reset some parts of the head unit. I say MIGHT because I think some parts aren't affected by that.

These updates aren't adding new features but fixing issues from previous versions fixing stability and crashing issues.
Could you tell if anything was different after the upgrade?
Not on mine but I never use it for anything other than listening to the radio.

It worked on my 2015 SR5 Tacoma with the Entune. I don't know what it did, exactly, but it "updated" lol
I've got a 2014 without navigation. It reboots intermittently. Toyota shows no update for this Entune. Will the nav update work?
I doubt a nav update will resolve the rebooting.
I have a 2014 as well. It wouldn't recognize the USB being plugged in. The Toyota page says there isn't an update available. However, I already had the Audio, Audio System and Dsp Mode numbers that he got after his update.
Is yours the one with the navigation or without? I tried this method and it didn’t work. Mine is without navigation.

Hmmm I wonder what the deal was then. It wasn’t picking up the USB drive at all. Although it did detect it with the start up image and display off image process when I did that. I’m going to try later today with a different USB drive to see if that works.
Is there a special folder name you need to put the update file into like in other methods of uploading via USB?

Best to contact Sirius, but I believe they just reactivate it on their end after you provide your vehicle information.

I believe so. I don't think Toyota is updating the 2nd Gen system anymore.
My 3rd gen Tacoma updates then after I restart my vehicle it restarts and goes back to the old firmware anyone have this problem?

I put that file on my flash drive and stuck it in the usb port and it still wouldn't let me select the Update Software option.

My Entune crashes all the time since I bought the car

I’ve been updating my software since day one...I’m pretty sure it’s a hardware issue of some kind
Mine does the same seems especially bad when making a call.
I feel like it happens more often when plugged into the USB port, however it also happens over Bluetooth as well...something with the Bluetooth controller or connector on the USB...maybe they’re shorting each other out randomly lol
I hate Entunes. I swapped out my deck for a Kenwood
got clickbaited with that thumbnail. i thought it would give us carplay or something. 😩😒

Best thing I ever did was rip out the factory radio and speakers of my 2012 Taco and replace them with Kenwood speakers and a Sony XAV-AX100 head unit. Toyota factory radio suck. They're made by Panasonic and are junk.
