Actually I find "Operations" quite handy mode to train deflection shooting (i.e. enemy comes in at an angle), as the ships tend to keep coarse and constant speed. I usually play a few per week and notice an increase in accuracy of my shooting
i've never really considered this idea. thanks.
In my case I just estimate. I use the type 7 static cross hair and just estimate it. After playing for years I had improved my guesstimating skills to the point I can determine the lead needed to hit a moving enemy just by looking at them.
This is what every player that wants to be good at the game should ''aim'' at. Dynamic crosshairs are nuisance for the more experienced players.
@@milionST Yeah I tried dynamic crosshair once, couldn't hit a thing
Same here, been playing for about 3 years and I can pretty accurately eyeball the necessary lead. It is very rare for me to overshoot or miss targets unless they are french DDs or changing heading unexpectedly.
I thought thats just what everyone does. I dont run any mods. Maybe I need to look at the advantage opponents are running against me.
Thanks man. This really helped me! I was looking for was to ve more accurate and this is it. I'm still adapting but once I master this I know it'll improve my shots significantly!
Nomogram crosshair made a HUGE difference to my play, wouldn't go out without it. Couldn't agree more.
Thanks Notser. This is proving to be very useful. It is the difference between chunking a target and deleting it. I am getting way more citadels.
Good Vid Notser, nicely done and explained.
thank you for explaining the top and bottom row
I just use the regular dynamic crosshair. Give it about half the lead for battleships, roughly the same for cruisers, and about twice the lead for destroyers. Works out for every ship I play.
That crosshair would be call first focal plane. FFP. It stays accurate at all zoom levels. Good stuff.
I like the version of Classic with the "spider web." Nomogram Striv372. I will be using this combo from now on.
Thx Notser ... as a relative new player it helps stepping up my game :-)
I just shoot by eye...works for me :)
Same. All these mods are for the weak and lamed.
@@jjones752 I wish I was you.
@@deadmausish same
I have pretty good success by adjusting the zoom to bracket the ship between same numbers on both top and bottom scales.
I use the ingame dynamic and double it for DDs and it works rlly good.
I just shoot with my instinct, it works every time
With Nomogram Classic, I'm having trouble with the NC at max range (32km) with the standard bino, as it doesn't zoom in enough. I tried the Zeiss mods, but while they zoom in at long range, the lead to target is then out of the frame, so I have to zoom out anyway.
What is everyone else using when at max range on the large BBs?
Great informative video ;)
wow this is actually very useful
You mentioned nomogram back in one of your videos before, I downloaded it and since then I dont play the game without it.
TBH,this crosshair helps newer players mostly, players who have been playing for a longer time know how to lead appropriately, that's why I just use the static crosshair, and I also believe its better to learn how to use the default ones so you learn how to lead rather than having to line up the ticks every time you want to shoot at something farther away, otherwise great vid and really informative.
Exactly. I've been playing since early closed beta and have never used any mods.
Same there. I do not use any mods, use the standard static and if I play ship for the first time, I just accept the fact that my first few games won't be amazing, as I adjust my aim, calibrating in a way.
Using the ticks won't work with accelerating/decelerating opponents or angles so TLDR dont use this. It might help you at first but it will make you weaker player in the long run.
For good players its useless too because the shots this works with are also unmistakable without it
@@RAiNfORAiNbOW It works with ALL shots, so long as you know the average/top speed of the ship you're shooting at and can make adjustments accordingly. The tick marks might be set to 30 knots, but you can still easily use them to shoot someone going 35 knots if you just adjust a little.
Sometimes I don't have time (or the mental presence) to work the tick marks. I have a second calculation I can make (I've verified this in the training rooms). The average destroyer covers it's own length in roughly 2 seconds, the average cruiser in 4 seconds, and the average battleship in 6. Obviously, there are exceptions - the superfast DDs or superslow long high tier BBs are a bit off. But, it does hold for the lower tier US BBs, as they are not only slower but shorter.
It's often easier for me to translate the motion of the enemy ship into shiplengths than it is to work the numbers ... just how my brain works.
thank you!
thank you for the help
I've been playing for years and have never used any of the info on the crosshairs lol like the ships speed etc
I prefer Nomogram Modern plus the max. speed indicator, less time doing calculations in my head which kept slowing me down. I also found classic to be quite busy on the screen with the double scale.
I like Nomogram Modern too, the only problem is that when there is an island between you and the target it trows off the scale completely
Old comment I know, but I have a question. I know modern nomogram, but what do you mean about max? what is it?
@@PanzerPotato The 'Max Speed of Target' mod which displays the locked ship's maximum base speed. It doesn't account for speed flag, dazzle or engine boost though.
Thanks for the answer. After watching this video I started using monogram classic. Then i saw your comment and tried monogram modern. I must say monogram modern is superb crosshair especially combined with the max speed mod you mentioned. Thank you very much again @@Thulram and all the best. Cheers!
I using static type 9 for ages. that one with the diagonal lines.
Good tips thanks🙂👍
Hi Notser
I love your videos, keep up the good work. I cant remember who did a video on this topic too but maybe you can have a look at it but the Nomogram was also helpfull with shooting below and above 16k distance. As i can remember, there was a thing with distance too. If you have a broadside target say at 18km distance and your shell time would be 12 seconds, the top bar would make the shots miss and difficult to get in view. But the bottom line has the numbers closer and if you use those (even tho its for 20k speed, but below 16 k distance) for the targetting, you would hit the shells. Maybe look at it and see if thats (still?) correct?
How about the smart horizon "Potato Quality" mentioned in his video? He said that nomogram may be less accurate on long range shots?
I love this crosshair... It was my go - to for so long... Then they did recent updates :( (06/26/22) Nowadays, non of my crosshairs work properly lol. I usually play long range CC. Vanilla or mod. gets me nothing. When I end a game with 400 damage, because I can't hit anything... There's a problem :D Love your vids man
For new players I suppose it would help especially with slow shells. But generally after 2 salvos on a new ship I already understand all I need to know whenever I use it. At that point it's up to the enemy to dodge or dispersion to be trash.
@Raj Neo
-Get new ship
-Overestimate how fast/slow shells are first salvo
-Slightly do the opposite next salvo
-Hit every salvo where I want to from then on out
-*_Achievement Unlocked: Basic Gunnery_*
I also have an advice:
If your target is moving angled to you, let's say 45 degrees, just cut the ticks amount in half.
It's closer to 70% at 45 degrees. It's 50% at 30 degrees.
cosines don't work that way bud
@@kurumi394 But sines do. Sin=Opposite/Hypotenuse the opposite is what you would need to lead. The adjacent is the distance.
@@charliedontsurf334 Ah I was talking to the original commenter
@@kurumi394 My bad.
N1 Video. I thank you so much. All the German CZcamsr dont tell the Viewer for what are the two scales are..... ;) In the first seconds i think - wtf he means with 20 Nuts *g* but then i understand that you say Knots and that make sense to me :) So, thx for this rly helpful Video....
Is there a way to keep the flight time on instead of having to press ALT to bring it up?
How do you get the enemy course lines on the mini map?
Is it weird im using static crosshair? i use the diagonal line to help aim when they are sailing away or towards me on an angle. i dont have much issues leading my shots, if they dont play with their speed to much XD
Its fine if you’re using the static crosshair,in fact i’d say its better to learn how to aim with the static crosshair, good for learning muscle memory rather than lining up ticks everytime you wat to shoot(like with the nomogram crosshair)
The eye is the guide. Nothing else needed
Me at 5:07AM having still not gone to bed:
Oh look, a Notser video!
i feel your pain..same here
Speaking of crosshairs notser have you noticed any bugs with the new carrier crosshairs? All i see when i play cvs since they released it is just white triangles and squares that take up my whole screen at times and drops my fps. Funnily enough its only carriers i have issue with otherwise my game runs at a steady 35 ish fps. And its only been since the update
This may be a stupid question but how do you get the distance and time that are around the crosshair? I installed Aslains for this crosshair but don't get that info....?
Notser, can you pass along to WG a consistent error that I see in the version 9.10 release. I have tried a full reinstall to correct this too and also the file verify functions to verify the game files. It especially shows up when I play my Atago. At the start of the game, things will look normal. But when you shoot your guns you do not see the shells or the streaks that they leave. When torpedoes are fired that do not move in the water. They do move but the indicators do not. The ships indicators at the top of the screen do not move sunk ships to the end. I have seen others complain of the same issues in the same game so this may be a server-side issue. Others in my clan have seen the same problems as well.
nice explanation
i use the type 1 dynamic crosshair, most of the time i only use it to make sure the target isnt angled slightly. about distance i just guess
Just looked went to the game today to see that mods will be restricted on May 22nd and accounts could be banned if you're using mods which mods are we allowed to use and which ones are we not allowed to use will I get in trouble for using this mod?
Been using Nomogram since I started last year. I don’t know what I’d do with our it. Hiring DD’s consistently is impossible for me with the stock scales.
Should be in the game ^.^
hows this vs smart horizon?
Well this crosshair is a very good crutch for people who might have trouble aiming.
Not meant for everyone but it can be pretty useful.
I tried it once, couldnt hit anything. I wouldnt say its a crutch at all just a different crosshair style
a rough estimate for the win
I usual use the nomogramic top web
My main issue if hitting angled targets. My shells fall short or on either side on the ship.
\=SHIP coming towards me (similar issue with ones going away from me)

Kinda like this

How do I aim better?
Don't remember the name but in the modstation pack there is an option for a large angle indicator (think it's big navigation or similar).
Use that and adjust shots ie at 45 degrees you want to roughly half the lead vs a flat 90 which would be the number on the scale.
Full interface, Nomogram Classic, and I still can't hit anything with a scout plane. That different angle throws me off so hard :c
+Halbostfriese
yeah, that one needs more practice than I ever get to have. I think players that don't regularly use a scout plane ship, have a tough hill to climb to master that aspect. Also, head on heading are always tricky, dispersion is a bitch and if you have a slow shell, it doesn't take miracles for the enemy player to dodge.
@@Tuning3434 I am playing since launch. Still can't get it done.
I may do a lot of other things right, but scout plane aiming I just potato hard :c
The spotter angle is strange, but it's nothing compared to the slam dunk when they land mid aim.
@@Tuning3434 To get some practice you can just go in a training room battle with some bots. Start off with them moving but unarmed with low AI settings. This means they'll almost always just sail in a straight line at full speed. Once you get better you can up the AI and they'll start to dodge a bit.
I can land citadels 23kms away with spotter after 3 years of playing. Practice makes perfect.
Hello, where to download?
Hi I'm completely new in this game. Where can I find the mod station?
worldofwarships.com/en/content/modstation/
that poor Shima eating _six_ overpens from a GK at 14km.... obviously your aim was perfect but oh my god, the dispersion is never that perfect. Beautiful to behold.
Notser, where do you get the Mod Pack from, could you include either a Link directly to the Mod Pack, or if you have a CZcams Video on the Mod Packs could you leave a link to that please?
Fahn Draco > aslains mod pack, check google for the site then click on one of the 'direct links' normally the 2nd one down. Once downloaded run the app, when it asks point it to were your wows install is. Follow instructions and tick the 'show preferences' box as this will show you what each mod does. Lots too choose from and I would recommend the Family Guy voice over in that mod pack (if you use that change your sound settings in game, it will say Family Guy in one of the sound settings)
Yes but problem is shooting dds in a bb at rangres, you quite fast runs out of scale. There is dds that do like 50 kn whit enginge boost. Thats almost 2X30 kn scale. and it ends at max zoom in like 15?
i just came for one without a line. i didnt even know this was a thinng.
how do you follow the shells? (im new so i dont know alot of things, positioning is the hardest)
Click middle mouse button after you fire.
z
Hit Z while shells are flying, then C if you want a different perspective
Oh thz guys!
whats camo?? awsome
How do you get coloured shells?
Unique commander
Where is this sight now? THe 9.4 doesnt work I guess....
good vid new sub here
For those that have trouble knowing the speeds of ships, above the dynamic crosshair section in modstation has a mod called "Max Speed of target" which does not tell you the speed of your target, but the max speed it can go.
Or just know their their max speed by learning the ship just like knowing each ship strength, weakness, and armor layout?
After playing for a while, aiming is very natural.
Skill matters.
Could you be more detailed on how we can get the Mod station to install this crosshair sight? That would be a great place to start off with!
Without that this is just smoke & mirrors really. Not all of us are computer nerds with nothing but meta data on the mind.
i dont really need the crosshair because i usually use the default one and doing great, for old time player they already get the hang of it. i just mind blown that i dont know wows has a modstation lmao
Classic is Classic, but Striv372? That's the real deal these days
Why though?
@@MrKendoex It has lines running out of the centre which helps for guessing what angle a ship is at, especially if you have a spotter plane. Other than that it's the exact same.
*I hate we don't see the fire 🔥 chance ingame*
The base fire chance is written in HE shell stats. That base fire resistance of ship hulls, though, is only can be found at some sites. It would be cool to have it displayed in game including changes after perks/modernisations.
You are describing speed across the line of sight and using the angle on the bow determine it. Sin of the angle multiplied by actual speed. Use this speed to set your lead. Old school submarine mental gymnastics.
less is more!
What is this first shot accuracy he's talking about?
You know when Bismarck devstriked Hood in 41? Yeah, that's first shot accuracy for you. It's not a game related thing but a military concept. The best weapon is the one that'll hit the enemy before he sees/engages you. This is why tanks like the Tiger and Panther were/are considered superior weapons. Modern tanks, ships, fighters, helicopters mostly rely on hitting the first shot/salvo before the enemy even knows what is going on
@@tamaslapsanszki8744 I thought he meant when you don't have to fire ranging shots to see where they land first.
@@deadmausish yeah, that's part of it. Basically the first ranging salvo has a higher chance of actually hitting
I wrote to you during your stream and we discussed it already, but again I think the best crosshair is "Nomogram Modern", because it is just so easy, if the ship goes at 20knts aim at 20, 30knts aim at 30 etc. you don't need to worry about shell travel time, all you have to do is remember ship's speeds, or just install another mod that shows enemy ship's stats including speed next to minimap.
I wish they would put new and more American battleships in world of warships legends
But this ship looks nice
Mate you are ok.
wish it had more colors.
I find that you just have to feel how much time the shell's gonna take, it works every time for me, so I'd rather have a static sight.
i cnat aim at the crosshairs
Im on static from day1
They should either ban or insert it in game this crosshair cause it's an obvious advantage from ppl that they don't have it
i just eye it lol
Can we just get it as a standard ingame crosshair at this point?
Did WG ever fixed their version of Dynamic sights? If not you could be 2.5 pips off between 17 KM to 22 KM in you sights. I think Flamu brought that to my attention in one of his videos. It is a good thing that we have ModStation with good alt sights.
3/4 speed cruising. Negates this entire discussion. And it allows to speed up as well as slow down to frustate them
The fact, I was a CBT player, so I tried out dynamic once, when it came out.
My aim accurancy not changed much, but I wasted far more time to aiming, and the too much "new" info made it harder to me to aim.
To a new player it's probably a great help, to me, it's the closest thing to a legal aimbot for the terrible new USN BB line. xD
There is no point, there are so many different factors to take into account that it is only a useful tool for the beginner, where it isn't because they are still trying to grasp the basics of the game. Anyone who has been playing more than 2K battles I would wager knows roughly where to aim to a point where the benefits for dynamic crosshairs are nullified due to the approximations required to use the crosshair
Where do you get the mod?
Or, alternatively you can do what I do and apply your own skill and judgement to shooting others.
Nomogram helps if you swap ships constantly or frequently otherwise its very similar to the stock dynamic in reality.
It still takes skill to use, it just removes the inconsistencies of the stock dynamic sights by scaling to each ships shell flight time
I need to know if you are ok that's all.
No good for us mere mortals who have to deal with de-sync and lag on a 3 year old computer and not hooked up to the Internet back bone or trunk line. Not to mention if you forget to turn off all your spam wear programs running in the background you get increased lag.
I don't know how to aim.
Too much thinking. I just click and then pray.
With respect, Ive followed your channel for some years now and it never fails to amaze me just how aweful your aim really is. Perhaps you're putting a little too much faith in your crosshairs? Surely at this point in your WoWs career your aim should be more instinctive?
Agreed. Started watching his vids 3 years ago since his beef with flamu if anyone remembers. Not a subscriber but I patronise his posts with a grain of salt since.
imagine being so bad you need a crosshair to hold your hand
Now that's just mean.
i rather play with my knowledge of the game from years of playing than using mods to make everything easier
Such a virgin thing to say tbh
