Really, I live 5 miles from the famous coal mine pit (Centralia) in the USA that's been burning about 50 years now. Just as delightful here as Coatbridge, makes me want to make the step up and move there. This was a hilarious video.

I live in Stirling it’s a beautiful place with lots to do with amazing views to great shops I love it/ it is probably the cleanest place in Scotland
I grew up in Grangemouth, which was just down the road from Falkirk and I went there very often. Folk do believe Falkirk is just the Kelpies and the Wheel (then again, all we had was the BP) 😆
Sometimes, I still visit family that way, but the high street has changed a lot over the years, lots of businesses rarely lasting long. But it’s not that different in most Scottish towns these days.

Steve Elliot It just depends on the area. Some towns are really nice, others not so much. I agree with you about looking unwell and dead behind the eyes, but again it depends on the area. The people aren't like that in the more affluent parts, or the nicer parts in general

Most of them would be in the Glasgow hinterland. I *wouldn't* put Falkirk on there, since it does have something going for it, like Callendar Park & the Antonine Wall. Falkirk's main problem is Northern Irish sectarianism of both varieties. Stirling has ALWAYS been a city, and it's not one the worst places in Scotland - I've even gone on holiday there.

I think Muirhouse (area of Edinburgh) had some of the worst crime rates in Europe at one point (about 20 year ago mind you). Been through there recently, and as far as I can tell some folk there are raging at losing their crown, and doing their best to take it back.

Jack Brown most places in the Highlands/Islands are lovely. Golspie, Brora, Thurso is a great wee place. Halkirk is nice, so is Castletown. Many other places too.

I have been to each of those towns, except Falkirk. I have done the Kelpies and the wheel. I think you were very hard on Stirling, its got loads going for It historically. Sylvester McCoy was the first Scottish Dr Who.
