I lived all over Scotland for the past ten years for work and in many of the places mentioned. I became an alcoholic, addicted 2 prescription medication, contracted an STD, developed severe depression and suicidal tendencies. And that isn't a joke by the way.
And that was Scotland's fault?............You have the tendencies so you would have ended up the same in any county you lived in!

I'm from Cumbernauld and fully expected to see us high up the list but I'm utterly shocked by the absence of Motherwell.

Inverness castle was there at the start.
I have lived near Inverness for 25 years and when I first came to the area it struck me as having some character. My view now is that the place has no soul. A lot of the life has been sucked out of the town centre (actually I should have said city centre as it was granted city status back in the year 2000), but it is really just a large town. A proliferation of tartan themed shops designed to cater solely to the tourist dollar and a one track economy.

And then you get to Peterhead, that land that time forgot, the town were the sun doesn't shine, a town cursed with a constant smell of fish and a constant grey backdrop they call the "Sky"
Glasgow is the worst and springburn/possilpark are the worst in Glasgow, also the red road flats in Barmulloch were so bad that asylum seekers coming from war torn countries were committing suicide from depression from staying there.

My dad worked as a cop for 30 years, 15 spent in Easterhouse. In that time he encountered many things such as, a junkie how tried to act him with an axe before being crippled by his need to shit, an entire family who hid on the balcony to avoid a warrant, and a gang of neds who came to the office to complain they had no where to fight since they built the school.

I'm from Inverness, and he is absolutely right. We lived one suburb over from The Ferry for a few years. Our windows got smashed, someone smashed in our front door when we were away one weekend, and someone went onto our shed, and nicked our bikes in broad daylight. My brother and I got chased home one night by a bunch of teenage boys with knives. It was pretty hairy.

Just incase anyone didnt know, the picture of the flats he used for glasgow is sunnybank street in dalmarnock. They are demolished now and replaced with a lot better houses, but the story behind them was that rangers fans would throw bricks, glass bottles and more at the flats as they were mostly inhabited by celtic fans. The celtic team bus wasnt safe from the objects thrown as the celtic team bus went down sunnybank street.

I stayed in the cairngorms hotel literally next to that tesco, to be honest the place was nice. However we had to ask for a code for the WiFi every 24 hrs, and it was £3 to borrow a single towel at the pool

I live in Fife, and the fact remains you are not more likely tae be stabbed here than anywhere else in Scotland. On the flipside, you are more likely tae be stabbed repeatedly, because when Fifers commit a crime, we commit! I was also driving through Methil where I saw a gentleman urinating against a front door of a hoose. Then he took out his keys and went inside.
This list is literally my whole itinerary for my trip to Scotland next year. Now I’m depressed and don’t even want to go anymore. My hat’s off to you, Batchy, for coming up with the most effective tourist deterrent there is 😂.

I’m from Glasgow, I lived in sighthill, then I moved to black hill and the to Riddrie and I go to school in Royston, It was voted Britain’s safest city one year and also voted Europe’s 2nd most dangerous city that same year, so I don’t know okay but I love Glasgow and I’m a proud Glaswegian

In some ways, it's a shame that the Scottish border doesn't run along the Wall. There's towns in there that could even knock Glasgow off the list.

I was born in Inverness 😂😂 but I have always lived near Fort William, which is on the other side of the great Glen fault from Inverness. Fort William is actually an okay place, we have low crime rates, the last murder was 30 years ago ahaha.

Larkhall and Hamilton, they both are twinned towns with towns in France and the French people come and visit. Every time they advertise that the French are going to visit I cringe at the thought of it. God knows what they must think of us as their wee towns are beautiful and ours is depressing.

I lived in Glasgow my whole life. All I can say is, it's always about WHERE you live. There some places (where I am) that are pretty safe and friendly. However, I will agree with you on giving Glasgow the number one spot. People get drunk every night. Always watch movies in the cinema in the morning and never at night.

Don't mind Inverness actually, but took a car for a test drive there and ended up going through the kind of scheme where cars are up on bricks and houses have more plywood than glass in some of the windows. Definitely made a quick U-turn!

That picture of Cumbernauld looks exactly like it was when I lived there... in 1966.
On a cycle trip heading south from Inverness (which I actually really liked), that route through Stirling, Denny, Cumbernauld, Airdrie, Motherwell, Hamilton - jeez, never again. Although I was brought up in an economically depressed northern English town myself, those places are grim. But Cumbernauld was the worst - although nobody bothered me, I felt I needed to get out of there asap.
Not as bad as Merthyr Tydfil though, where I got things thrown at me by passing cars. That's the very worst place I've been to in the UK.

I was in Fort William recently and I found it pretty tacky. Like Falkirk they are very good at hiding how bad they are with Ben Nevis and The Jacobite steam train being popular attractions

angus towns are pretty safe & decent in comparison to other towns in other areas worst parts are no having much transport links f all to do saying that i moved fae kirkcaldy so its great here in comparison
