When my mates think about travelling, it's all about sun and alcohol. Not me, I can't wait to go to Calgary next winter and play pond hockey. Great video, looks fantastic.
I totally agree with that. Thanks for watching.
How was it?
Hockey trips w the boys can definitely involve alcohol
I love hockey because it's something that challenges me, and helps me grow as a person. I've learned so many valuable life skills while playing the game, met some unbelievable people, and formed lasting frienships through the game.
I'll never stop playing.
Pavel Barber I love your vids
With my grandfather being from Finland and having grown up in Michigan being around Finnish people and just have started to play hockey. This brought a tear to my eye. Suomi.
Matt Moilanen Thank you so much for watching. It means a lot to know this video touched you.
I’m also Finnish and started playing hockey! Skating comes naturally with us Fins
Massive thank you to everyone for watching and leaving such great comments and sharing thoughts.
Hockey Tutorial oh ur welcome
Love it. Where are you guys? Where did you film?
From a very very frustrated ex ex hockey player of fifty years old, from the south of England (with no ice and no hockey), I am resigned to strapping on my Marsblades, taking my stick and Green Biscuit, and hitting the promenade ( or Asda carpark Sunday after shutting!) quite sadly - on my own!! However I do work in an aircraft hangar and skate every lunchtime too! I live near a beach........and I'm not really a beach person...hahaha!!! Maybe just born in the wrong country!! ; ) Going to try to get out to Europe next winter with a stick, skates and pucks, find a frozen lake and make up for the past 25 years not playing!! : ) Great videos and truly inspiring! (Not a hockey player anymore.....but something is drawing me back.....!! Haha!)
Just amazing, best pond hockey mini movie I've seen
i love pond hockey because it's a great way to get to know the people in your neighborhood and make new friends. and it gives you something to do when you're bored
Great video! For me hockey is the best free time and hobby. Gathering together with your best friends outdoors is really great for health specially! Big greetings from Siberia!
I learned to play hockey on the pond since I was 8. Every day when it's cold outside me and my friends would go outside and play. Hockey isn't just a sport, it's a lifestyle
maaaaan, this touched me deep inside! amazing movie! #pondhockey !!
#savepondhockey
I love this video. I grew up playing pond hockey with my brother in the North Central Midwest...USA.
Hockey is truly what brings people together
+Grant Curtis Couldn't agree more!
have to agree with you on this one
yesterday i just played with some teens few adults and some 10yo kids on the same game and it was fun as hell. and ive played football (soccer) for mutliple years now and never had so diverse games with ages ranging from under 10 to over 40
Amazing. Reminded me of my trip to Finland playing hockey and playing pond hockey in the winter in Cambridge. Good job Chris.
In scandinavia and russia there's a game called Bandy (it's like icehockey + football) and it's played on completly iced football fields.
great video dude! shared it twice!
Wow absolutely amazing video. I could just watch this over and over again!!
mid-life, and just learning how 2 skate. a bit daunting and scary, given the conditions of the sport, but i am falling more in love w it evry time i am out there, getting more confident.
a few wks ago, on the nite of February 16th i found myself on skates, on a little backyard rink at my sisters, barely able 2 move.. but wide-eyed and smiling at those kids weaving around.. like they were floating on the ice. that nite, i decided i wanted 2 do that. like.. really wanted. (and it's never 2 late in life, right? aha)
a cpl wks later, i discovered Chris' tutorials and am absolutely making strides (albeit, maybe babysteps 4 others haha) ..completely thx 2 him, and the way he teaches. cannot wait till next yr, since the season is almost done here in Alberta. only wish i would have had these small, but vital pieces of advice when i was young. (i have, in my life, had a handful of times where i had dreamed i was floating on ice like a figure skater. and i alwys woke up w this feeling.. can't explain. just.. freedom, and happiness. and i never knew y i dreamed that tho.. bc skating was not something i was interested in, or really thot about ever. at all. so it was strange. and so, all my life i had never known or learned how 2 skate. the dreams were only ever just that. dreams.) but now, i am learning. barely, and slowly. but i am. and my heart smiles evry time i am out there. cuz this Canadian girl needs 2 know how 2 skate! lol
thx again so much, 2 Chris and his videos. keep inspiring determination, and making a way for passion 2 b developed and realized. cuz it's kinda more than just skating.. for me, it's hope of #nevertoolate. so happy when i'm out there doing something i thot i'd never ever do. eh. :-)
I have played pond hockey for over fifty years in my hometown, Chicago. The reasons they gave for loving hockey, I feel all of them.
Ken Kunz where in Chicago did u play I live in Chicago also
Tony Gotter Tony I've played all over the City and suburbs over the years, but lately there is a good pond outlet at South Park in Park Ridge. It's at the corner of Devon and Cumberland. Also Warren Park on the NW side has outdoor rat hockey on Sunday and Tuesday. With a generator, the ice there is up and ready to go. That one is not exactly pond hockey, but it's outdoors and a lot of fun.
Man this hit me in the feels because i just had my last high school hockey game recently, and idk if i will continue to play in college
This is absolutely amazing. It is now on my bucket list to play pond hockey in Finland. It is too bad that you cant really do this in New Jersey.
i know right i also live in new jersey
nick long same
I was stationed in Lakehurst, NJ during 86-87 winter and I remember getting a taste of pond hockey in New Jersey sorry I don’t know the name of the pond or what the locals called it but it was almost an hour drive from the base and I never played hockey nor have I ever ice skated but I was hooked after that.
This makes me.wocked excited for the ponds to freeze near me.
Amazing stuff done in my hometown. Next tournament coming up in a few weeks. Maybe some new sticks n faces and definitely same ole song and dance on the same ”pond” in Berg Hell as last year. Winter Classic!
I love hockey because it brought a new wonderful dimension to my life at the age of 42!
great video!
living in new york, we wait all year for the pond to freeze
so exciting!!
I love pond hockey so much and this video makes me want to play so bad! Living in Missouri though I can only play once in a while because of the weather. I need to move up north.
i went to Finland (i am half Finish) with no interest with hockey, and came back with it as my main passion and i play for an amateur tea now
hector jorro That is fantastic!
Hockey Tutorial Fantastic Finn?
That was put together very nicely.
Dude. Best. Video. Ever. Seriously it was so awesome!
I used to live in Boston then I moved to Iowa and it's cold but doesn't snow a lot so sometimes if I'm open I will go to my friends rink
you should organize a massive pond hockey meet up and have a tournament!
That's a great idea!:)
We do in Finland :) savepondhockey.org
Holy shit. That thumbnail gave me so many memories. I live in the states now but I was born and raised in the yellow building behind the stands :D
I hope I can join this event one time or another. Greetings from Switzerland.
Pond hockey is the best mate
Great video Chris!
This video really inspires me, keep it up
loved the vid hockey is the greatest sport!

I love hockey because of the Physicality and Brutality. You get hurt, then you get right back to playing. Also because its a true man's sport. GO FLYERS
This guy should make a hockey movie..
Sick.....!!!
Nice video !!!
Amaziiiiiiiing!!!

what zamponi do in open air?

This is a very good video.
I fucking love pond hockey.
Never had a zamboni on the pond I played on. It was shovels and the fire department flooding the pond.
thats not a pond though, thats a bandyfield!
fabolous
is this in Finland? Well I love hockey because it is a beautiful sport it's fun. Even though I just got into hockey, I was going to play for a team by my house but the rink shut down so the team stopped playing. It's hard when you live in Louisiana.
i lived in finland for 3 years.
Never played Pond hockey! I want to so bad!
Would Ike to give ice hockey a try can't find any local amateur teams in the west midlands use to be pretty good at rollerblading as well if anyone knows any inline or ice hockey teams in the west midlands please let me thanks
Meant to say, are there any organised trips from the UK to places like this by hockey clubs etc and are these organised events, or is it just turn up and 'knockabout'? Cheers all!
I live in Texas, there's no such thing as pond hockey. :(
***** Same here in the UK.
move
If you would add subtitles to it, so i can translate it to dutch. I'd show it to my mom.
This is Helsinki, Finland.
Suomi mainittu, torilla tavataan!
What a beaut
Hey there, I was just wondering if you know any good places for ice hockey near Bristol? Any ideas? I am not sure where the closest place is where they teach it! Thanks
It's rare to find anywhere in the UK that will teach it, other than the off season training camps. But your best bet is to find a recreational team (Bristol warriors, Bristol mad dogs) and just pay to go along to their training sessions.
I love hockey because it's a sport that "fits" me, other sports simply don't reach the level of excitement a hockey match can.
Где это?
Where did you guys play in Helsinski?
Halkolaituri and Brahenkenttä
Anybody know what kind of gloves the guy has at 1:34 ?? Pls :)
Those are very cool gloves.
BlueBootTV
Oh, those appear to be my gloves. :)

Pa Coal Miner couldn’t agree more
It’s getting hard to have ice in the backyard in Cleveland
First
1:50 skyrim???
Is there an age restriction I'm 13 and I've been playing hockey for 8 years
Generally, no as long as you are not too small (to avoid accidents), but some people might be bit condecending towards teenagers.
Thank you
+Boltz GamingOG nope when I was 13 I would go to the Outdoor Rink or pond every week and play a pickup game and nobody cares about your age as long as your there to have fun and to hang out with the community
Even beginers? Co-ed ? Lol i tried that once! Lol
I love hockey because it’s the worst game I have ever seen sorry guys for saying that 😂😂 I love soccer more than my live ⚽️⚽️⚽️💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
