The one and only song composed by John Lennon and George Harrison !!!
And what a song! A great rocket. An incredible early instrumental that has Beatles greatness all over it!
Oder von George, als er Lennon Gitarrenunterricht gab.
He’s certainly part of their history
Harrison/Lennon song. Great Job. 👏👏🎼👍
Love this song
Kind of has the wild Hamburg/Cavern swing to it. Cry for those Shadows alright (written about them at least). The Beatles were a rock band at heart.
The original version of this instrumental was in Germany on the flip side of “My Bonnie” which made it there to number 5 in the charts. The single was hard to find but I eventually bought it. Those were the days, my friends….
PETE! Give some love to Pete!
Sounds great! Love this tune! Glad Pete has gotten some recognition and $$!..
Great Pete, rock legend, we love you.
About ten or so years ago Pete Best had a cd called "Hymans Green". It was excellent and Beatles influences throughout. It's out of print
now but oh what a great cd,
I love that album. Great to see I'm not the only one.
It's in CZcams, just type in his name and Haymans Green and scroll down
I love Haymans Green, an awesome album!
😂😂😂😂😂😂...' Hymans Green '!!!!
It's ' HAYMANS GREEN '. Pete Best didn't release an album named after a female body part..
@robinrobyn1714 actually that is spelled "hymen."
Rock on Pete
Great job Pete!!
great drumer mr PETE BEST
Pete did a good job here.
Seems that Pete really improved since his days with The Beatles, Shows that anyone can be a hell of a drummer if they try hard and don't give up.
Only took him sixty years LOL.
@@thefonzkissHe also stopped for many years and got back to it later on
Pete was always Good.
Unterschied Peter und Ringo - Peter begann Schlagzeugspielen mit 17, Ringo mit 7Jahren.
@@pinksax Yes, but you can't convince people who listen to wild rumors of that.
I like that Pete is still playing after all these years.
"Dick Clark Special Circa 1978 with Pete Best". - he rocks in that with major rocknroll elites and claims he hadn't really drummed in 14 years.
And now he is more relevant than ever, great to see such a successful Long Term come back.
Rock on Pete Best!
I remember that.
When you look at early photos of ringo and Pete best they almost resemble one another ..love them both despite there complicated history .
Cool! I like it...👏👏👏
Congra 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Pete The Best🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤sounds Amazing and The Original😮😮😮❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Very wondefull pete best 😊😊😊
Excellent job by Pete.
holding down that beat just as he did 61 years ago. love em Pete
Are YOU ARe related? Because with all due respect The man was kaka as a drummer and worse as a human.
and he could NEVER keep a steady groove.. EVER!
@@mickavelliantotal impartiality, listen to their Decca recordings, he's steady there too.
@@plasteredbastard Was not too impressed with him but he does rock here.
😂
@@plasteredbastard The Beatles anthology 1 has the version of Love Me Do with Pete Best on it. His drumming is awful and it's obvious why he was fired afterwards
Sounds great Pete!
There’s only five people that can claim to be an ex Beatle. Pete is one of them. I love the way he’s handled what happened. Great drummer. Thanks Pete.
Jimmy Nichols and Pete, who else ?
@@ChannelVideoCZcams I forgot about Jimmy? I was including the original 4. There's Stu Sutcliffe in that case.
@@gibbo573 wow u are right
What about Norman Chapman?
@@joyousmonkey6085 Good point but including "stand in" drummers could open the floodgates. Pete Best was a committed Beatle, Jimmy Nicol was only a stand in really.
While I think that Ringo Starr was the right drummer for the Beatles in the long run, I would also say that Pete Best has improved on his drumming abilities as time has gone by. He did a fine job here, particularly with keeping in time.
I would certainly hope so after 60 years.
Still off time
@@marguskiis7711 I tend to agree with you. I really wanted to like this, but... yeah.
Música em homenagem aos The Shadows, grande banda também....
His snare riff is unmistakable!
EXCELENTE !!!
Pete did get his royalty's and im proud he did.
The BEST!
Great !!
Nice rendition !
Pete Best ❤❤❤❤
guitarist is not bad, man
Excellent drum work!
Se ve que esta disfrutando tocar, y tiene muy buen groove a su edad
Muito bom , Beatles 4EVER.
Pete Best's style would go well in a surf band, where you need a heavy beat.
That is true! I kind of enjoy his heavy tribal sounding playing
For sure- "Wipe Out' came to mind as I was listening prior to reading your post!
In the style of the Shadows.. the learning songs!!
absolute banger of a song
sure is!!
Pete has some swag on that kit! I wonder why he wasn't in another successful band back when the British Invasion broke big time? "Drummer for The Beatles-1959 to 1962" looks great on a resume!
Cause he was a loner with a difficult personality. Didn’t fit in. And less then mediocer on drums
👏👏👏
Pete Best!!!
Sounded good.
Muy bueno 👌 Pete
Cracking drumming
As a songwriter myself, I think Ringo was the glue that held the other together ,his drumming definitely made the songs better.
Pity there's no recordings with Tommy Moore drumming - pre Pete Best
What famous songs have you written that gives you such knowledge?
Maybe after 20 or 30 takes a monkey would have got it right.
I presume you never saw Pete with the Beatles !!
@@pinksaxyou don’t need to write famous songs to have knowledge of what it takes to have a working group, you get that with chemistry, you either have it or you don’t.
Really? Ringo was competemt and regarded as the best drummer in Liverpool at the time but he was not world class in my opinion
The Beatles would have been just as popular with another drummer instead of Ringo. He did nothing to contribute to their success. Don't get me wrong, he had some great moments and I can point out quite a few songs of which I really love what he's doing, but for the most part he just provided what was needed for the song and nothing more. He had incredible timing, but he was never regarded as a great drummer.
nada mal sr best
His drumming reminds me a little bit on the drummer of Buddy Holly's Cricketts.
Paul McCartney said in his most recent interview about Pete Best, that at least for him, kicking Pete Best out of the Beatles had less to do with his drumming and more to do with the fact that he just didn't fit in with the rest of the guys. Cynthia Lennon has always said the same thing in that Pete Best just did not fit in with the lads, and that his personality was too different.
Yeah, In Lennon's words: Pete was a Good drummer,Ringo was a Good Beatle.
He is shy
All in allgood on you .mr.pete best
Wow! Pete Best can jam.
…and who wrote this song? George Harrison and John Lennon.❤❤❤❤❤
Wow Pete Best!!!,you are great!!!.My favorite record is the one where you play drums with Tony Sheridan with Polydor on vynil record!!!.God bless you and have a happy new year!!!😀👍🎸🎸🎻🇬🇧🥁🥁🥁✨
Very good. I wish you would come to the Greater Cleveland area in Ohio some day again
G. Smith, to be updated about the Pete Best Band, search in internet for the Casbah Coffee Club Liverpool, and you will find all the informations that you are looking for ( also, there is a telephone number) . Greetings from Italy, Patrick
What’s interesting is that Pete’s mom is the reason he was booted from the Beatles. She attempted several times to make him the focal point of the group to the point of trying to assume she was not only his manager but thinking she was the group’s manager.
As an old drummer myself, I can say that Pete plays better here than he did way back when. He was sort of like a diluted version of Charlie Watts... steady and adequate, but not a lot of flash or innovation. There is no doubt that Ringo turned out to be the perfect fit for The Beatles. Not only his chops, but he experimented with different sounds, and he broke new ground for drummers with his perfectly placed fills and technique.
I have always thought about the mental anguish that Pete has had to carry all these years, to be ousted from the band that would go on to make music history, has to be tremendous. I am glad that he got on with life and dealt with it.
Maybe. But remember he's part of a history that will be remembered for a thousand years and is an inseparable part of it all. Far more than almost any other person.
Finally getting a buttload of royalties thanks to his “Anthology 1” performances certainly put him at ease. Nice that he’s back playing for appreciative aufiences.
Mis respetos para pete fue un beatle no famoso pero, debe tener su página en la historia
Poor Guy. Imagine what he's been through his whole life, laying in bed at night and imagining what might have been
He doesn’t have to imagine!
@@jamesguinan7319why you say that ? Of course he does
Maybe not. Mayb he's thankful for being a family man and avoided all the bull... he's still alive and healthy..he's a winner in my book
O inicio o meio e o fim dos 3 que ficaram pra historia do maior fenômeno musical e Cultural e Social de todos os tempos!!
I saw Pete Best a few months ago at my local chemist. I must say he looked less than healthy at that time. Hopefully, he has improved since then. He used to gig quite a lot around where I live and I went to see him and his band a few times. They were playing typical beat group material from the first half of the Sixties.
Did he look ill or only old? He must be over 80 by now.
I saw Pete Best as a guest on "I've got a Secret" in about early 1965. He said he had a new band called the All Stars, if I remember right. Of course, Ringo has been touring with his All-Starr band for 25+ years. Wishing Pete all the "Best".
I can see why he was sacked
One of the few Lennon Harrison songs included in the Beatles featuring tony Sheridan previous to their own records. I do not know if best played on that album
Yes there were a few songs by the Beat Brothers (aka the early Beatles c1962) and these included Cry for a Shadow. Other songs on that album included tracks by other bands that Sheridan gigged with.
Sorry typo: Pete Best did play on those Beat Brothers songs and it was actually c1961
@@mikemyers1912 are you the Canadian actor? Or just a coincidence or joke? Best
@@ggrape0 I am not the Canadian actor nor am I joking about my name.
@@mikemyers1912 thanks for answering and sorry for asking. Best
Pete Best should be revered as one of the original Beatles and be able to play huge arenas with Beatles songs!
Why? He wasn't a Beatle beyond Love Me Do.
A great drummer who deserve so more
Why can't I stop playing this? The drumming is so excellent!
He was a drummer before Ringo in the Beatles
Good to see Pete get some royalties courtesy of anthology 1
✌️❤️
nothing wrong with his drumming . . played as it should be . well done PETE .
Back in Hamburg eh Pete?
Quem é músico..... é por toda a vida independentemente da "boa" o ma sorte"
Love the Atom beat
One Beat Pete
Pete Best has the Ring of Star-dom about him!
Hands up anyone who can remember the other non-Ringo Beatle drummer who appeared on stage with the Fab Three and was never heard of again?
Pete loves this song it made him a bunch of money
It's Pete that's lost,ss always
Well done Pete! You play those drums brilliantly! And the guitarists were brilliant too! Hadn't heard this melody before even though its over 60 years and I'm 74! O' those were the days of great music!
Nice one Pete.
Lots of expert drummers in the comments. The original song was a homage to the Shadows. Cliff and The Shadows were the link between Elvis and The Beatles
The Beatles had considered Pete Best as an asset to The Beatles until George Martin told Pete he wanted to replace him with a session drummer for record recordings. When Paul and John questioned George he said " You guys need to decide what's important. Stage performances or making records. If you want to keep the performances the way they are, that's fine but Pete will be replaced for recording sessions. That was when John and Paul mutually decided to have Pete replaced. Immediately after it happened Pete was approached by members of Rory Storm And The Hurricanes and offered Ringo's old job. He declined.

honestly he has potential, he improved as a drummer and could play in a successful band. He should’ve let go of the fact he was kicked out of the beatles honestly
Although his rimshot sound quite tight, I think he is still pretty mediocre. Personally I think he drummed it better back in 61.
RINGO IS BEST! VERY BEST!
These are some of funniest comments 😂
According to John Lennon, The Beatles couldn't play in Germany without a drummer. Pete Best had a drum kit. That's why they let him in the band. But again, according to John, "He never improved."
I can hear it. The tempo wavers from bar to bar and even within fills. Not a pro drummer.
Lennon was a big angry mouth with legs, even back in the day.
I love the Beatles but John was a prick. He even treated George with disdain and never let George perform any of his own songs in concert until right before they stopped touring.
@@enkibumbu Yet, he accomplished more musically than you ever will
And yet after Germany with Best on drums they were lauded as the best group in Liverpool, and Epstein took them on.
As for Lennon, he was the beatles foundation no doubt, but he was a trouble causer even within the group. So take what he said with a 45 gallon drum full of salt.
The best ever Beatles instrumental and Pete Best played on it, not Ringo, some kinda consolation, and this live performance with Pete Best drumming is the closest thing to the authentic Beatles Hamburg era sound in this century....
❤❤😂😂😂Danke. Peter 😂😂😂😂❤❤Danke
He's no Barry Wom.
At the end of the day he WAS a Beatle, and we weren't, so that counts for something, got a few squid out of it as well, happy days 😊
Pete was lucky guy
Say what you will about Pete. He can say with a straight face, "I was the drummer in the Beatles"! 😮
Imagine if Pete had the same opportunities as Ringo ie the work with George Martin. Remember Ringo wasn’t good enough for GM either
Pete was part of the original Beatle or Liverpool style of drumming. He had to be a top notch drummer as this video shows.
That is definitely not what this video shows. And no he wasn't. He was hired when they were nobodies because he was the only guy around who had a drumkit. He was fired because he was absolutely terrible. And he still is. I'm sure he's a nice bloke, but I'm not going to pretend he's good.
They fired him because he sucked... good enough for a garage band but not top notch.
Terrible drummer .. still is
@@Jacob-tj8igI think he’s pretty good. Not too bad.
He’s had a long time to get better
Join Ringos All-Star's,,, THAT WOULD BE RAD !!!!
So many drumming “experts” talking crap when they’ll never accomplish anything in their lives
He copped the Drop T
You know there's nothing wrong with Pete Best drumming. Every drummer has there own style. Wow!!
I think whomever the The Beatles were going to sign with back then those executives dictated a look they wanted and found the one Ringo Starr, along with the fact John, Paul, and probably George wanted that break into the music world and did as they were told in the beginning. Pete Best didnot fit the look i think and was out, but it's ok because in time Pete received proceeds later on.
I wondered if any apology came from them, including Brian Epstein, it was wrong and they all knew it.
Pete's drumming on _Love Me Do_ from the _Anthology_ is horrendous. I would expect him to be better now, sixty years later. The only "executive" that had any input as to drummers was George Martin; nobody at EMI cared one way or the other about the "look" of some piddling band from Liverpool.
STEEL BEING A BAD DRUMMER, AND A BAD BEATLE TO, SO BORED TO BE A BEATLE.
BUT STEEL BEING HISTORY, LOVE TO PETE.
That was great drumming, by Pete Best.
