That’s a large forehead Phil………..Paint it
I used zinseer watertite on same problem areas & it keeps the moisture back 100% , then applied masonry after 12 days, works perfect !
Watertite. Isn't it a thick paint to apply
Came here to say watertite. Yeah phil, it’s designed for basements. Holds back 34lbs of water pressure. Give it a go next year
Used this on last two exteriors its a great alternitive to an ambeint primer.
it amazes me that a 4 inch brush is classed as a big brush now a 6-7 inch brush is a big brush a 4 inch just regular size shouldn't be dropping down to anything less than a 4 inch brush for your bead and butter area's
Hi Phil , future proof it with thoroseal, then paint that! It will hold back the hydrostatic pressure and stop the salts so no more sealing and regular painting!.
peel stop is formulated with vinyl resin ,polyvinyl acetate also known as pva.
👍👍
scrap it all off phil and do it in limewash should stop it from peeling or linseed paint
Thought you were using aftersun for a minute 👍
filters ;)
I think zinsser said to paint over peel stop before being exposed to rain i guess cause it contain's pva which im certain it does cause it feels like its got pva in it and smells just like it.
im not so sure about the pva thing phil cause ive tested it myself on bare plaster in my garage very diluted 2 coats of vinyl matt and it was solid and still is i think the problem might be people don't dilute it enough
why are you diluting PVA on bare plaster?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator just thought i would test it as people have different opinions and to be honest its solid phil scratch tested it tape with masonry tape it doesn't off seems to just as effective as a mist coat and as a lot of guys are mist coating with vinyl matt these days which isn't breathable either
@@jackwardley3626 PVA isn't alkali resisting... Plaster surfaces are alkaline. That's where the problems start.
You wouldn't paint oil based paint on plaster surfaces... Even thinning it down.
Hence why you'd use alkali resisting primer.
But
..... Emulsion paint is alkali resisting, hence using it as wash coating.
How is this holding up after 9 months compared to the sandtex?
I'll be repainting it again in a few weeks. To tidy it up. But it's been a lot better with less coming off than last year when cleaned up with jetbwash.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator Thanks for the response. Would you recommend using it as a stabiliser for painting over old flaky paint on external house render? (after I give the flaky bits a good scrape and sand it all)
Thanks
😂
