this is what happens when you get married young.. spencer was partying, clubbing, he was spoiled being a trust fund kid, so him treating other people bad, was a norm, the lifestyle he grew up in... Heidi grew up poor compared to spencer and brody...she would have been good if they met and waited... the key here was not getting married young lol...spencer would not have sought revenge for lauren exposing him talking to other girls if he was in his 30's... marriage at a young age is dangerous at times.

I donât agree. Heidi was an adult & was free to choose whoever she wanted to marry. Perhaps, Lauren didnât like her partner because of everything he did to her, it is understandable to dislike him for what he put her through. Thatâs fair. But Heidi was in love & Lauren should should have just let her go & not get so involved. Sometimes you have to allow friends to make mistakes & learn on their own. Heidi is the one who is still happily married to Spencer & she has reconciled with her mother & sister. Lauren didnât know what was best as she was a child herself.

It's so sad that one person drove such a permanent wedge between two life long friends. I know the show was scripted but clearly all of it wasn't because Lauren and Heidi never reconciled.
I don't think they were life long friends. They met at that design school their first year of college. So they were friends like 2 years total I think. Lol

agreed. i know there were a lot of fake scenes and drama in this show, but this moment.. damn. and i think lauren really hits it on the head. spencer is/was a manipulative person, who utilized isolation to exert control over heidi. it was always an us versus them mentality. Or if you pick lauren/your family, you lose me. Super twisted, and it's heartbreaking watching lauren try to explain this to her.

Honestly back then I was always on Team Kristin and always found Lauren boring and weak but now that I'm 30, I can honestly say that I get it. All I want is to be like Lauren Conrad, have a quiet and peaceful life, with only a few real friends who have my back and stay out of drama. I really get it now.

Watching Lauren now, I feel like after so long into the show, she just grew and had a different mindset which is different from when she started the show. Removing herself completely from the show and everything that revolves around the show was probably what was healthiest for her. Truth to be told, I'm happy for all of them. They have all found their own peace, happiness and success.

Lauren herself told on The View that she wasn't on the other end of Spencer call. It was a fake call and they used footage of her talking on the phone with Adam Divello trying to convince her to go to the wesding because they had already planned on bringing Kristin Cavallari in.

She was so calm and so articulate.
The scene actually wasnât fake. They knew this would be filmed but the conversation was completely real. Lauren and Heidiâs friendship was real and everything they went through. This was two best friends watching their relationship come to an end. Quite sad.

I LOVED this show when it was on and am still fond of it but most of it was completely fake especially by this point in the show. Iâm sure this conversation between Heidi and Lauren, if not scripted, was definitely planned.

This episode should be called âThe phone call that never happenedâ
Heidi came to LA so damaged and disfavored (?). In one of the first episodes - "I never got what I wanted for Christmas, my sister did." Everything was driven by vanity - find a boyfriend who adored her, find a new face people would envy, shun people who didn't, be the center of attention at parties, transact dignity to become a reality star. It's painful to watch.
Lauren was genuinely Heidiâs only REAL friend.
Lauren was right when she brought up about Heidiâs relationship with her mum and sister and how she was this incredible person who lit up rooms and Spencer destroyed it all. But if the fact that Heidi lost all her friends, lost her mum and lost her sister couldnât wake her up, nothing would.
This apology by Spencer was the only decent thing we ever saw him do. And Iâd well believe it was scripted because MTV wanted Lauren at the wedding to see Kristen.
I honestly think this drama is real, because I canât find traces of Heidiâs family on her social media whatsoever

Lauren was extremely mature and wise beyond her years. Her parents did a wonderful job. I went through this with a friend of mine. Completely lost herself running after a piece of a man. It's sad to see, it truly is.
Spencer didn't come between Lauren and Heidi. Heidi was only ever Lauren's friend for fame. She knew exactly who Lauren was when she met her. She came to stay with her over the summer to get on Laguna Beach and got on the Hills as a result. She saw Spencer as an opportunity to try to be a star outside of Lauren and it didn't work out. Heidi didn't change. Lauren just saw who Heidi was when Spencer came around. She left that little town in Colorado to be famous by any means.
Brody set Spencer up to meet Heidi perfect Match lol They were all richâŠ: Heidi family were millionaires not crazy rich like Spencer Brody or Lauren but rich they owned restaurants in Colorado and she met Spencer

I wouldnât place all the blame on Spencer or the partner. This was a reflection of the bad friend and person Heidi was to allow all of that. She purposely set Jen up with Brody to take the heat off of her. She wasnât a good friend and the entire situation exposed that so it all worked out for Lauren.

I read somewhere that Lauren's phone call was actually a real-life call from a producer on the show. She was being asked to do something she definitely didn't want to (hence her shocked expression and mentioning of "not being comfortable sitting there").The call audio from the producer is removed and instead, parts of Spencer's supposed apology "call" are inserted in. Definitely clever, manipulative editing. Producers for reality TV have to play dirty to stir up or fabricate drama.

They wanted her to do a lot of stuff she didn't want. I heard that when Heidi showed up to her birthday party on that boat in Season...2/3 whatever it was, the producers set that up and Lauren genuinely did not know...she was so upset she walked off camera and producers had to convince her to get back on and confront Heidi and have that stupid crying scene.
I don't think Heidi was ever that great of a person on the show. I remember when she was playing solitaire while in school, which a lot of people would have been so grateful to attend and learn. I just thought "this ain't it" and stanned Lauren.

Same with what's on Amazon Prime now. It likely has to do with the music rights expiring (these shows are all 10+ years old now). Or the rights limited the music to TV broadcast only.
I watch DCC on YT and all the music is different than the aired edits. Probably same issue here since they aired so long ago.
