Big Finish Productions’ anniversary audio epic, Doctor Who - Once and Future nears its endgame in Time Lord Immemorial, released today.
“I would’ve run through a brick wall for David Warner. I loved him. An inspirational man and actor.” - Christopher Eccleston
Two Doctors meet in the latest episode of the diamond anniversary audio drama series, as Christopher Eccleston (the Ninth Doctor) and the late David Warner (the Unbound Doctor) star in Doctor Who - Once and Future: Time Lord Immemorial.
Suffering from the effects of a degeneration weapon and slipping between bodies, the Ninth Doctor finds his TARDIS caught between universes as the cosmos starts to break down. A Doctor from another reality arrives and they join forces with Liv Chenka and the Lumiat to find the cause.
Someone has desecrated the mythical Hall of the Time Lord Immemorial, where the sands of time from the multiverse are held. And those sands are running out…
Doctor Who - Once and Future: Time Lord Immemorial is now available as a single-disc collector’s edition CD (+ download for just £10.99), or digital download only (for just £8.99), exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.
Christopher Eccleston said: “It was quite emotional for me to work with David Warner, an actor I grew up as a child watching and admiring. To share the Doctor with him was special. If ever there was an actor who should have played the Doctor, it was David Warner.”
Producer David Richardson added: “Bringing the Ninth Doctor and the Unbound Doctor together was inspired by the friendship between Chris and David. They have known each other well for some years and it was a treat to bring them together in the studio. To benefit from these two greats acting opposite each other was irresistible.”
Writer Lisa McMullin said: “This particular set was a real gift because I got to make two characters that you might not expect to be able to interact because they’re in different universes, and then converge those universes and have them collide. There’s a whole heap of fun where they’re trying to decide which universe they’re in. The Ninth and Unbound Doctors were so much fun and a joy. They worked together really well, and bounced beautifully off each other.”
Script editor Matt Fitton said: “I know Christopher Eccleston loves Lisa McMullin’s writing, so when he said that he wanted to do one of these 60th anniversary adventures, we immediately got her on the job, and threw together some more old friends as well.
“We have Nicola Walker turning up as Liv Chenka, and Gina McKee as the Lumiat. The Lumiat is Lisa’s creation who is, in a way, the Master’s version of the Valeyard in that she’s the opposite of everything the Master stands for. The Lumiat is an insufferably good version of the Master or Missy!”
The impressive roster of guest actors in this adventure is completed by Robert Powell (Jesus of Nazareth, The Thirty-Nine Steps) as the Time Lord Immemorial himself.
Big Finish listeners can purchase all eight Once and Future audio adventures together in a bundle for just £72 (on collector’s edition CD and download) or £60 (download only).
A special edition series bundle, which contains extended behind-the-scenes extras and music suites for each story, is also available to pre-order for just £62 (as a digital download only).
All the above prices include the special pre-order discount and are subject to change after general release. - Zábava
This series keeps getting more and more epic! This will be my first Ninth Doctor audio and I'm so glad that David Warner was able to record this before his passing. Not only is it the 60th, but it's the 20th anniversary of the Unbound range.
Eccleston has a bunch load of his own adventures as nine now too and some of his are honestly the best of big finish I've ever heard
@@Killersexy9 I really want to listen to Nine's Big Finish stuff, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. It sucks being poor. 😅
@@ashleytuchin7693 I feel you there. If you ever do get the chance I recommend old friends box set first it's probably one of not only the best overarching story but also has one of the most beautiful moments between 2 amazing characters In that universe I've ever heard.
@@Killersexy9 thanks, that's actually the one I'm most keen to listen to. Is there much continuity between the sets, or are they all stand-alone?
No each box set is it's own thing
Christopher Eccleston AND David Warner??? Sign me up!!!
RIP David Warner, looking forward to listening to him and Chris Eccleston in this one
This should be a most special multi-Doctor adventure. R.I.P., David.
Not only is this trailer beautiful, but so is the story considering we're hearing Liv, 2 legendary doctors, and another....familiar character meet. May the great David Warner rest in peace.
There’s a genuine epic feel to this particular Once and Future release.
R.I.P David Warner
I'm always down for more Lumiat.
I *so* love the vortex effect. Makes the trailer look visually fantastic! 🤩
That vortex is GORGEOUS and the entrance of the logo is inspired. Amazing trailer.
It's quite funny (and probably intentional about the part where the narrator says "It will lead you to the diamond array" and then the literal Doctor Who diamond logo appears. It would be hilarious if the Doctors actually end up happening across it!
Note: I have yet to watch it, and I am quite excited to. This sounds fun.
100% intentional
Listened to this last night. All of the Once and Future audios have been fun, but this was a delight from beginning to end. It had an amazing cast and great to hear the great David Warner one more time.
It’s sad this is the last we’ll see of David Warner as the Doctor. But at least what we have of him isn’t gone
Big Finish, Please Continue The Doctor Who Comic Strip Adaptation Range, please?
>Breath of Forever
The Eminence meets the Sandmen?
Another top trailer. Rip to a legend.
R.I.P. Christopher Eccleston
Chris didn't pass away
@@HOTD108_I hope you’re joking! David Warner is a character actor legend whose many, *_many,_* roles insured him a kind of immortality most actors could only dream of! Rest in Peace to a true journeyman.😢
The late great David Warner has been an "official" Doctor for me ever since I bought "Sympathy for the Devil" all those years ago. It had Nicholas Courtney and David Tennant (even before he was the Doc on TV) acting their socks off with him in what I always imagined as a big budget earth story which would have made a stunning feature film in my view. The gravitas of David's (w) performance then immediately allowed me to accept him as the Doctor. So it's fantastic to see his name with Chris Eccleston for one more adventure! 😄🥰🥲👍
Love the open credits and looks brilliant story
Man, BF production crew has really kept fans in secret for them been able late David Warner do his role as Unbound Doctor in two different stories before his timely passing.
To hear legendary man doing his voice roles in this and last year's BF story, The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield: Blood and Steel, really shows that man was able to pull off his role before he passed away.
Wow so excited for this anything with 9th I'm always getting
Excellent story, looking forward to the last 2 parts
Any excuse to get The Doctor to listen to Ultravox
Wow looks fantastic will miss David Warner
Wait, is the eminence in this? He said the breath of forever
The breath of forever, the Eminence!?
Will we finally see (er, hear😅 ) the final death of the manufactured enemy of The Daleks in the Time War? Or is it merely going to be used as a plot device to tie one of the opening strikes of the war to the conflict itself?
Neither according to casting and plot outlines and trailers definitely not
@@tardisglitch547 Breath of Forever is a term specific to the Eminence, and Two’s Company did have a twist reveal character that wasn’t revealed outside of the actual story.
@@jbcatz5 yeah but I think considering the fact the twist was still casted and the eminence has a voice. The voice we see is that of timelord immemorial. But they could appear but the whole sandman thing doesn't really fit it
Uuuuh that was epic, I cant wait!
Excellent trailer, I'm looking forward to listening to this.
this is cray yo
Diamond time vortex travel is the way to go
I hope the title sequence looks something like that
Are those the Sandmen from Sleep no More? Or just something similar-looking?
Unbound is meeting the normal.
Breath of Forever... The Eminence!?
Who is the unbound doctor?
the unbound doctor
He’s a version of the Doctor from an alternate universe, who first appeared in the “Doctor Who Unbound” range (which told out-of-continuity What If? stories) before escaping into the main universe and appearing in a number of Bernice Summerfield audios.
He’s played by the late David Warner. This was the final recording of the character before his cancer took him from us.
An alternative Third Doctor, who was exiled to Earth, but arrived to 1997 Hong Kong instead of 1970s England, meaning that he didn't work for UNIT as the scientific advisor
Hurry up and release torchwood absent friends.
Unless Barrowman makes amends and repents, that story's gathering dust right next to the sixth season of the Tomorrow People audio series. Otherwise doubling down like a spaz will make it lost media
@@korystephens3318 Why would he do that he has said that his on set pranks were enjoyed by the family he was with. No one has placed harassment charges against him. In his words it was blown way out of proportion.
Release 'Torchwood: Absent Friends'
Welease Wodger!
I don’t think the people who run this CZcams channel have the power to do that.
@@EditedAF987 I’ve had to repeat this ad nauseam but it’s not Big Finish who can make it happen, at not without risk of ramifications. It’s the BBC who chose to stop any further releases or involvement with John Barrowman and the character of Captain Jack, and they own the rights to the character and to Torchwood. If Big Finish did put it up for download then the BBC would have then take it down again.
When Torchwood Absent Friends?
Release Torchwood: Absent Friends
Great trailer, as usual
However, I can only comment for myself but I've grown tired of Liv.
Where is absent friends and comic strip adaptations?
So far this 60th anniversary event has been a complete mess.
