    Always load the bezel in first without the bezel insert. That way you can align the 12:00 triangle on the insert so it lines up perfectly when you turn the bezel right and lock it in place. You have many triangles off center due to an improper install like he did in this video. Everything else he did was fine minus this critical step.

    Sir...I'd like to thank you VERY much for this superb video. I knocked the bezel off my Rolex Submariner by banging it against my refrigerator door (OK...don't ask). I snapped the bezel back on...but didn't have the one-way ratcheting feature. I watched your video and discovered I was missing the tiny wire spring. Miracle of miracles...I actually found the spring inside my refrigerator where I banged the bezel off. That is one TINY spring...but I managed to get it back in the hole...and snapped the bezel back on as you described. BINGO...my watch now works perfectly...many thinks to you! Cheers!

      Me too, I knocked one off about 30 years and some local watchmaker replaced it, never noticed until now I'm also missing the spring, ( doesn't click ) I never wear it but looking lately just because of the value of the older ones.

    After 20 years of owning from new, my bezel, insert, spring and spring washer disappeared. I wear my Sea Dweller 24/7, diving, motorcycling, workshop, office, bed... so no idea where the bits went or why/how. So, can you suggest how I lost them, but more importantly where to get replacements? (I have a theory that mechanics hand cleanser which contains abrasive beads, worked its way between the bezel and case so that it "un-clicked". What do you think?

      Thanks very much for watching. I buy my bezel inserts from cousinsuk.com. Quality wise, there really isn't much difference between a real and aftermarket insert. On the question of After market bezels, I've been on the search for one for my 16610, but i have noticed most sellers selling AM bezels stated that a small amount of adhesive or glue is needed. I don't know about everyone else but putting glue or adhesive on a Rolex is stupid and sounds like the bezels aren't made to a high quality. ( SO my question is can anyone recommend a good reliable supplier of AM bezels in the UK that will fit snug like the authentic ones do "NO GLUE or ADHESIVE" Thanks

    The thing is this,,, I have a genuine 1982 GMT Master with a Pepsi bezel,, nicely worn and totally genuine,, bought in 82 for around £800, GBP ,, now worth in excess of £6000 GBP ,, if I change the bezel,, value drops to around £1000, GBP,, So don't mess around with your Roly, if it's genuine!!

    • @jaskey
      @jaskey Před 5 lety +7

      I think the idea here is that he is saving the genuine bezel insert from damage by putting a cheaper beater bezel insert instead. He can pop the original bezel back and since it's all original parts the value stays. Imagine wearing your GMT master and you get the bezel insert dented or punctured during your wear. Since the worn aspect is part of the charm for the watch you have no choice, but to be careful. For people with newer subs without worn bezel the switch doesn't really change the appearance of the watch. (though I suppose you wouldn't get the lovely worn look years down the line)

    • @Toby_the_Glen
      @Toby_the_Glen Před 5 lety +1

      I bought mine in 1987 for just under £900 and it has hardly been off my wrist since. The bezel is looking a bit worn now and replacing it would give the watch quite a cosmetic lift, but as you say, it slaughter's the value. I might consider swapping the bezel and just keeping the original though.

    Good video but I give up. Just spent 30 minutes attempting to put things back together but the spring won’t cooperate, keeps popping out so just left it off. Will have it installed the next time it’s serviced.

    I work in psychiatry and I feel many Rolex owners have psychological issues regarding the "genuiness" of their Rolex. What's with having fun and creativity. Most freak out when they've found I put something aftermarket on my Rolex. Come on! On my 16710 (originally with a pepsi bezel), I have a few aftermarket bezel inserts that I frequently swap in and out while my genuine insert is protected in the box. I usually wear my pepsi and coke inserts during the spring/summer and use the black insert during the winters. Over the years, I've replaced at least a couple of different sets of scratched up coke and pepsi inserts. Thanks to the perfect condition of the original pepsi insert, I recently popped it back in and sold the watch for a big profit. TBH, on the 16710, unless I remove and compare the brand new inserts side by side, I couldn't easily tell the difference which is gen and which is aftermarket. Imagine both inserts having a little wear, it is just visually impossible to distinguish when sitting inside the bezel! Enjoy your watch! 😀

    Nice vid. I love the look of the sub like most people and it’s super nice quality-wise but can’t figure out why the top dive watch in the world doesn’t have a luminous bezel. Just can’t get over it. Takes away the tool aspect of the watch. May just go with a Pelagos.

      I have both and prefer my Blue Pelagos as a daily watch. The ceramic illuminated bezel and dial lume on the Pelagos looks amazing!

    Without the bezel it looks like an explorer

    I like to pop off the bezel within a large plastic bag. That way if the tiny spring pops off I can easily collect it. Lessons learned 😂

      Die Lünette hat ja auch nichts mit dem Glasgehäuse zu tun. Das ist mit dem Gehäuse verbunden und versiegelt und nicht mit der Lünette. Ganz einfach deshalb sind sie weiterhin wasserdicht. 🤦‍♂️

    Thank You...I just want to say in case people dont see it the washer/tension ring goes on first then the click spring , Also I dont know what kind of Clown had the watch before me but the click spring hole was at 6pm which says someone changed the crystal then pressed on the the crystal retention ring at the wrong place...OMG beware idiots

    You should have done a close up of the spring. That part is essential to get right and you didnt do any close up.. sigh

    Is this your Kermit? Is the bezel insert in your Kermit aftermarket? Or do you have two submariners both with green bezel inserts?

      Remember the 16610 was launched in 1987, it was a big upgrade from the previous system.

      Probably worse quality than an invicta I guess... and people squander 7k on these.
