Once came I compared it to my original GMT (in terms of quality, feeling of the steel etc), I understood one thing, China can't be beaten. I wore a rolex daytona replica a few years ago. And it caused a few people around me to be impressed looking at my watch from afar. But I'm always honest, when someone came to me and told me that I have a really nice watch. I just told them that it's actually fake and I got it for $30. I'm not trying to impress anyone, or making people think I'm posh or into luxury items by fooling them with a fake Rolex. I just like how the watch looks. It was an automatic movement and lasted 8 years on my wrist. I only stopped wearing it when I accidentally dropped it and the entire movement was broken. So I end up switching to a genuine Longines Conquest Classic which looks similar to the Daytona.

Who are the crooks now: the purveyors of unabashedly outright fakes or scalpers trying to take the mickey out of you? Nobody gets to buy any watches from ADs because scalpers are the ADs' "preferred customers" and get them first leaving nothing for others. It is a collusion to create artificial scarcity through hoarding. Rolex Geneva are to be blamed for this because they allow the same few preferred customers aka scalpers to buy the watches again and again ad infinitum.

Superficially the watches were made to resemble Rolex watches in appearance with the heft of case and band. Amused, knowing that these watches had to be fake, my uncle bought one of them. When he took the watch home, he laughed at his purchase for even the name Rolex was misspelled 'Rolix' on the watch face. Nevertheless he often wore that watch, being careful not to get it wet; and amazingly its cardboard works kept fairly good time. He still breaks out that watch time to time to tease or test someone.

My fake submariner (gifted to me 10 years ago and still working fine) seems to be a much better copy than the one featured in your video and I'm wondering if it's worth anything. One thing you didn't mention was the easy link adjustment on the bracelet. My fake doesn't have easy link adjustment, but for that, my bracelet seems to be really well copied and the crown logo etch at 6 o'clock on the crystal was very difficult to spot even with magnifying glass, but it's there. Thanks for the info on the line-up of the R's and X's with hour marks - mine definitely failed that test.

There seem to be tons of them out there. Most buyers are "middle class" people who really couldn't care less about having a genuine Rolex. Some even joke about their "Chinese Rolex." After studying the situation I no longer think most fake Rolex buyers are trying to fool anyone. I think it's more about laughing at people who waste so much money on a vanity item. All these Swiss watchmakers would have gone out of business thanks to quartz if they hadn't reinvented themselves as "luxury toy factories" for bimbo proles. The reason why you are paying these ridiculous prices is artificial shortage. 2500-3000 would be a realistic price for such a watch. Why?
