Using bubbles or a strong routine
When teaching a child to speak, we must have something of value. What does that mean? Children will be more likely to interact with you when you’re fun. And the fastest way to achieve that is to use something like bubbles.
By using a desirable object like bubbles, you can create a play routine. It’s something predictable, fun and what you do over and over.
    Teach baby steps towards words
Many skip to teach children to speak words. If it were that easy, the child would have already started to speak themselves! So you should accept gestures and word approximations. What gestures? Teach “open” and “blow” if you’re using bubbles. It depends on what your child likes and what activity you’re trying to do.
Keep modelling the language you want to hear
To teach a child to talk, we must be constantly teaching what is expected of the child. This must be done in a way that they can understand. You should describe at the language level they are at. Usually, that means just stating things or actions in 1 word. As the child hears the word over and over, at the right context and right timing. S/he will start to pick up how to use the word you’re trying to teach.

I use feeding time to teach my autistic daughter. I also use projective imitation. It is working.

Very nice and practical tip. It really works. I have tried something similar with legos with my son. He needs my help opening the container where I keep them. He often brings it to me to get it opened. I don't give all of them at the same time. He often attempts his own version of the 'more' sign to ask for more legos. Similarly, I've also had the greatest success getting him to imitate words like 'up', 'down', 'in', out', 'build', 'block', 'knock' when I model them in context in a repetitive and familiar pattern.

@AgentsofSpeech I have a daughter born April 26th 2022. She's 20mths now. she's not responding to her name consistently but when she watches TV she tries to repeat what she hears. She babbles etc can say wow dog bubbles and oh. She has an alphabet book and is able to identify some words. Is this a cause for concern. She walked late at around 16 months and also started clapping after she learned to walk

Hello ! Nice videos I saw on your channel!
My best friend's child is 5 years and 4 months old, he still doesn't speak. Like you said, in my opinion, he doesn't see the need to speak. My friend and her husband are in deep depression, they've been to many doctors, at first their child was diagnosed with autism, after, they were told that it's not autism, it is sensory and motoric alalia. The child visits a professional therapists who try to make him talk etc.
The child also make scandals and can beat himself so hard he becomes red.
Also, a very weird sidenote, but sometimes he lies on the bed or couch and make the 'sexual' moves. He does this until he is exhausted. And if somebody interrupts him, he would make a scandal and cry and scream. So nobody disturbs him when he does this his thing. Is this something normal also or abnormal?
Could you suggest any other ways for a FIVE year old or what I can suggest her and her husband to look for? Anyway, I will continue watching your videos, if I find something helpful, I will show it to my best friend. Thank you for you work. Really.
P.S.: They have older children 10 and 9 years old. They are totally fine and act and speak normally.

Sometimes I feel like I failed my child. He is 5 years old and still not speaking. He would revite things he hears on videos e.g songs or nursery rhymes and be well engaged in that but does not speak with us. When and if he does say something functionally e.g juice please because qe are by the table eating he may not say again for a long time after. I just dont want to give up I can't but why why why cant he use his words functionally and consistently. 😢
