I’m a little late to the party lol, but this is such a pretty cake! Good job!❤️ I remember volunteering every year to help with the Ironman triathlons in my state. I would always be on swimmer watch. They’d give us little orange whistles and we’d make sure no one was struggling. I miss those days a lot lol
Something about the chunky blue dabs of buttercream color just scattered about and not smoothed out looks sort of amateur, but that’s okay. I think using the scraper on the dabs of blue shades and blending it out would’ve given it a wonderful marble and watercolor effect, and you could’ve used the gold leaf after to line the edges of some of the blue streaks that are more definitive.
I have done many a watercolour style cake, and many a marbled cake! I purposely left these dabs un-smoothed because I wanted to go for a textured, scale-like effect. This was intentional :)

It turned out great! The thing is as a professional food addict, now recovered, I can honestly say I think that cake tasted 10 times better than it even looked. I keep promising myself that one day I'm going to buy myself a cake. It will either be because my cheeks have sunk in too much from not having enough to eat, not on purpose, or because I finally got through the hardest time in my life. I'm thinking of buying myself a five-tiered pure white wedding cake. I never got to taste my own and wedding cakes taste different and I don't know why. You can tell.I have no clue but I just saw one done and was curious if u have seen them and if you have tried them. Always fun to try new things!!.
Wow! Genuine question, how are you supposed to cut a cake that tall? The regular way? I’ve seen recently someone cutting a cake into a grid to equal more servings but this is one tall cake
