Jimmy Kimmel roasted Robert Downey Jr. and shared his love for Ryan Gosling in his opening monologue at the 96th Academy Awards, which aired Sunday on ABC.
If Smith had done that in defense of RDJ, while he might have still been banned from the oscars, I think the public would have viewed him completely different.

She's over a year sober, I can't imagine making light of her or saying things that would make her feel bad. It's not okay. RDJ really turned his life around, I have a lot of respect for him for taking control of his life and making the necessary changes in his life.

Hope Jimmy roasts Robert Downey Jr for not acknowledging Ke when he totally ignored him and took the award. Even when Ke tried a second time to give him the award envelope. So simple a few extra seconds of kindness is all it needed to acknowledge someone giving you an award.
OMG...Leave RDJ alone! He was obviously caught up in the excitement of the moment. I am sure he thanked Ke and got his envelope. And I actually think he enjoyed Kimmels roast. Kimmel was funny! And the joke was just to show how far RDJ has come. And I think RDJ appreciated that. There was no malice or insult intended. People are so sensitive and have no sense of humor, unlike RDJ and it was directed at him!!!
