Spot on analysis, well done. Watching this without your expertise would have left me thinking this was just a casual humorous interview with two guys but now I see that it was in fact psychological warfare and Jimmy was actually interrogating him.
This is way over analyzed. This is just the way that Robert is. He’s naturally charming, witty, and charismatic. Dude runs whatever conversation he is in.
This is really interesting and I do think there's tension between them here, probably stemming from jimmy's crass joke. But how talk shows work is the host and the guests will talk before the show and go over little anecdotes they will discuss later on camera. They do this in case the guest starts going off on a random tangent or freezes up or whatever, the host can redirect them back to the point and keep the show entertaining. That's how hosts just "happen" to have videos/pictures/whatever cued up and ready to go at the end of what seems like a spontaneous story. The patriots side step was almost certainly a fun story they had discussed beforehand, with the punchline intending to be "I think Chris just realized this is exciting last night." "But you didn't care at all" "nope, don't care" So Jimmy was probably trying to save the interview at that point by directing it to chris and the patriots, not trying to go for a jab. What you're reading as distress at that point is actually RDJ falling into step with the energy he told the story beforehand. So Jimmy was ushering him to the punchline, not taunting him. But yeah RDJ is crazy uncomfortable this entire time, I actually wonder if Jimmy had asked if he wanted to go for some more edgy/lewd humor and RDJ had vetoed it and that's why he's so on edge once he says the thing about his pants. Nothing Jimmy does seems to make up for it.
Robert Downey Jr is one of my favorite actors and continues to do brilliant work. He also strikes me as a brave guy who has faced and dealt with his own inner demons, but that is really none of my business. Enough said. But when Kimmel put up that photo of his daughter, that was the real low point of the show. Major restraint on Robert's part! I will never watch another one of Kimmel's "Talk Shows" and hope I'm not alone...
I feel sorry for the celebrities who get set up for a bad interview. Robert handles them brilliantly but such a shame he had to. Robert IS the pro. There is no doubt, so Patriots, Yankees, Robert didn't need them. Jimmy just does what he is told. I don't find him, or Colbert, humorous in the least but rather dull.
I’m not so sure RDJ really sent him that photo judging by his reaction. I also feel he was not comfortable exposing his kid to the world like that. Talk show host have been known to dig up all kinds of things on people to use a leverage for good TV. Also, celebrities do not have a choice to appear on these shows because it’s often in their contracts. They break contract, they don’t get paid, possibly sued, and black listed. Hollyweird is full of treachery.
It's not surprising to know how Kimmel doesn't have talent, and that's why he always tries to supply his great lack of talent usung poor vulgar strategies, and on the other hand, Good for Robert, he always handeled the situation in a very mature way. That's the difference between a real man and a simple clown, and we all know that Kimmel is always the clown.
I miss the days when talk show hosts were genuinely interested in their guests and not trying to score laughs for themselves at the guest's expense.

Anderson pooper..
shit ...too many to even name
Yes and what did he DO? To get the gig, a nobody from nowhere...casting call😱
Who came here after what happened at the Oscar’s? I definitely remember this on tv!
I can't believe people don't realize that all these interviews are prepared for very carefully 🤣
People are so gullible--it's shocking.
Robert Downey Jr is very bright , and 100% professional dealing with the pedestrian style interview by Jimmy .Robert is a level above him
What’s a pedestrian style interview?
@@7tleg67npc
@@7tleg67lol
Robert Downey's brain is of the utmost upper echelon of humanity.
Kimmel is the best ... at being the worst!😂
Why is this exactly what my anxiety does when I’m trying to talk to people lol
Robert is a sarcastic guy and is just playing the game. Body Language Drama should note the difference between real tension and comedic timing.
Right?
Lmao you dont understand Satire
@@fancykarlmarx damn and I thought I stuck out like a sore thumb lol.
EEeeexactly. 100%. This whole commentary is deluded.
clearly he is deluded and doesn't know the difference.
Idk how accurate your analysis is but I love the effort and thought put into this lol
I literally had no idea what was going on. I wish u described the beef more
Spot on analysis, well done. Watching this without your expertise would have left me thinking this was just a casual humorous interview with two guys but now I see that it was in fact psychological warfare and Jimmy was actually interrogating him.
Hahahaha
its not
Ewww. Poor Robert. But man, he is the King of the comebacks. Back off Jimmy!
He has Body Double this is just look like him he isn't a real one
He is a great actor. Still remember him from ‘Ali McGraw’. Both were great together.
@@wacko37 Sorry I know this was posted months ago😅 but wdym by this?
I have respect for Robert Downey Jr he did his time and more experienced way more than Jimmy kimmel
He should have said well my pants aren't young enough for you kimmel.lol
I dont care if you think they are playing around, but to put a photo of her daughter and ask him to adopt him was too much
This is the most absurd analysis I’ve ever seen lol
Enjoyed it though 😂
This is way over analyzed. This is just the way that Robert is. He’s naturally charming, witty, and charismatic. Dude runs whatever conversation he is in.
This is like a schizophrenic person watching me talk with my dad
What was the problem with the pants thing?
Honestly, RDJ is one of the most talented, respectful, and caring People (let alone actor) ever.
ok bro
Get off his dick dude he wouldn’t even crack the top billion
😅
Jesus ! The voice over sounds like his reporting on something really serious !! Hilarious!😂😂😂
What’s crazy is Jimmy already had the picture on the screen before Robert gave him his approval.
It isn't right. It is an invasion of privacy for him and his daughter.
this guy: making mountains out of anthills...
Kimmel never had a hot day in his life. Downey was and frankly still is handsome as hell.
Kimmel had a hot day last month in Barbados 🇧🇧
The comment about being the same age as his daughter; followed by adopt me: definitely creepy.
This is like I was when my son's new step dad was trying to tell me how to raise my son in a bossy way
Robert: I've adopted you !?? Then "GO TO YOUR ROOM MISTER"
The patriots side step was almost certainly a fun story they had discussed beforehand, with the punchline intending to be "I think Chris just realized this is exciting last night." "But you didn't care at all" "nope, don't care"
So Jimmy was probably trying to save the interview at that point by directing it to chris and the patriots, not trying to go for a jab.
Nothing Jimmy does seems to make up for it.
yeah but have u seen the jonah hill one.. really makes me think if there discussing beforehand haha
Grub.
Some brevity plz
He's oversensitive re the pants thing because of persistent rumours years back, that was was gay: before he got married.
@@sarahholland2600 ooooooooooohhh
@@sarahholland2600 I don’t know about that, but if I was talking with someone and they said something like this I’d be uncomfortable too.
This was SLIGHTLY over analyzed
If Robert Downey Jr actually liked Jimmy Kimmel, yall would bring up the time he was in blackface
I don’t think Downey’s pressed he’s always a little anxious in interviews
This is the "Hellow fellow human" content that I was looking for.
Him - “oh god I’m so glad I found a girl that isn’t crazy”
My thought process-
This was so funny! I love RDJ! It would have been more hilarious to have devil horns added to Jimmy’s face! Lol
I played Skyrim for 1000 hours as an archer... and I still didn't draw as many long bows as your critique of this interaction...
Actually, i am surprised he didn't just leave the interview. He does that.
That's part of why marvel cast him as Tony stark
You are aware that this satire right? The amount of stupid people like you that believe stupid shit on the internet 😂😂
This is like an average convo with my aunties
This video is a classic “making an issue out of a non-issue” video.
Well Jimmy Kimmel Just creeped out Robert Downey jr. With a weird joke
His body language says it all. Way to fight fire with fire Mr Downey ❤🎉😎🤟🙏
