Only two heavyweights like David and Annie could’ve stood there for Freddie and still rock it! He would be proud.
Really an inspired choice to bring in Annie Lennox to sing the Freddy Mercury part beside David Bowie.
David Bowie: the only man on earth that could rock a mint green suit R.I.P
sure bro
I believe, David could rock even a Diogenes' jar... in all meanings. 🙂
❤
David Bowie can rock ANYTHING
I'm pretty sure that Harry Stiles has picked up the torch, and can meet that challenge
Annie nailed it, she freaking nailed it. Brings a lump to my throat. Thank you David & Annie, both awesome performers.
🎉🎉😂❤❤❤😂😂😢😮😅😅
Freddie would be proud
How am I just seeing this now, for the first time? Have I literally been living under a rock for the last 30 years?? This is everything.
Same. I was just scrolling and the algorithm served this up and now here I am processing some kind of of spiritual experience
It is amazing. Coming back to this for the last 10 years :) Annie is mesmerizing!
me too, first time seeing it.
I can absolutely feel the energy of that concert coming through this vid. so powerful.
I was actually there , I was a teenager, it was awesome.
Did you see yourself in the crowd? It would be like you're a tiny little dot wouldn't it... ☺ who was the best act?
@@1970brenz for me it was George Michael, he has a fantastic voice & that was only time I’ve seen him. Wish I had gone to one of his own concerts but sadly can’t now. ☹️
@Croco Dile in the middle, a bit to my right-hand. I knew a few who managed to get near the front. They’re were on the same coach as me from my sixth form at the time. It was longest day ever, got on a coach at 6am and returned on the same coach, got back at 6am the day after. I was exhausted!

Life without Bowie is getting pretty hard.
Freddie Mercury and David Bowie will always be in our lives, because of the legacy they left for us to enjoy till the last record breaks. No need to despair my friend.
Bowie is in space now, its ok. He is where he needs to be.
Right. There's no other like him.
This is our depression
we all unique, more or less quite, more or less shiny but we all the same.
The saddest thing about a tribute is that the man you are honoring doesn't get to hear it.
Freddie would have absolutely loved this performance!!!
same with mozart and janis i think bowie would be laughing
Il l'a coécrit , et le résultat est magnifique...
Heaven has no curtains or walls. They hear us.
He heard
I think he does hear it ✨
Bowie was the world's coolest human, even in his last days, he was all class..
I firmly believe that there is no one, past, present or future that can possibly take this title from him
He was absolutely sensational and iconic.
David Bowie is the one and only man that could wear a lime green and suit and look like a total badass. Bravo.

Did anyone ever look cooler in mint green???
Charleybones never...only the starman himself :')

Yes prince but I also like my Bowie
Only DB could carry that off so easily, possibly Bryan Ferry ...

Im a 56 woman who thinks real talent will never be forgoten. And this duo with one of the greatest woman singer we have never had shows it all. We, the old miss david as we miss freddy and so much more..when music and talent were real
You rock
There are no artists performing out there today that can even come within a mile of a performance like this. Still sad Bowie is gone. Thankful he lives on in recordings such as this.
Rob sou do Brasil e também concordo com vc esses dois estão entre os cinco maiores da história
Imagine having the balls to sub in for Freddie. She did a great job
...without the balls.
She had a high testosterone.
Um, every singer on the night stood in for Freddie, whether they had balls or not!
Gail Ann Dorsey does Freddie's part much better than Annie. No iffense.

I hope they make a tribute like this to David Bowie, he absolutely deserves it. RIP David Bowie.
+ladymay30 They won't but he deserves it :/
+ladymay30 It is beautiful to see how simple human decency (not something you see in other cultures of the world quite as much). They were unassuming not overstating themselves or their fame but for the memory of another.
+ladymay30 I hope they will...
+ladymay30 who'll sing?? There's no one who deserves it!
bufo tenina you are maybe right. at this tribute acts like David Bowie, Annie Lennox, Axl Rose, Lisa Stansfield or George Michael went on stage.
I love John Deacon.
@Gabe Stagg he didn't give up on Queen, he left cause he was VERY loyal to Freddie and he never really liked being famous
@@abbigale2772 Exactly. He was a normal bloke who just happened to play bass in the biggest band in the world. I can totally sympathise that he didn't want to continue after Freddie. Besides, he's still involved, just in a reduced managerial role in the background. I've heard Brian and Roger involve him in as many conversations over future directions for the band as they can.
Same
He's impossible not to love.
He seems sad here - maybe it's when he realized Queen should retire without Freddie?
Possibly one of the greatest live performances of all time and I’ve seen Queen live so I know what I’m talking about! Simply breathtaking 🥹

The one and only

DC Rayleigh - Bowie leaned more towards the Buddhist belief system than he did Christianity, but yeah, I feel your sentiment, haha.
two icons now on the biggest stage ever next to prince.
This is so iconic. I adore Bowie. I was born in 89’ and gutted I will never experience anything like this.
The performance of both is amazing. However. I think Annie gave everything she had and shared a bit of her soul. Amazing. I wish I could be there.
One of my favorite things about this video is how Bowie is such a humble star. Annie Lennox obviously doing the Mercury parts shows off her vocal range and big performance. Bowie easily could’ve been the focus if he wanted to be. Instead he lets her command the stage and plays his role in the song perfectly being stoic and almost muted to her performance. Total perfection. He is so sorely missed.
You absolutely said it. You nailed Bowie, I think 100%
Bowie, regardless of his stage persona, was always suave and always in command. Annie Lennox might be the only pop singer who could be more of a chameleon yet, in her own way, is every bit as commanding. Bowie was a given for doing this tribute, Annie was an inspired choice.
Bowie is a God
It was like a performance of fire and ice. It was absolutely perfect!!
he easily out preformed her without even trying is how I saw it shes good but sounded labored he did his part effortlessly thats what sets him above her
This is the definition of smashing it....hearing the crowd screaming Freddie's bits is so amazing it had an immediate effect on both Bowie and Annie....and Annie's outfit/makeup/character - most don't know this but she was portraying death and the disease that took Freddie and the battle he fought.....Her silver top represents armor he needed to fight physically and mentally what he endured from the disease and media and the black was death and the AIDS virus.....they are both singing one man's song. Bowie represents Freddie's life and Annie is death and disease and at the end they become one just as the disease took over Freddie, singing "this is our last dance and this is ourselves, under pressure." an emotional way of portraying Freddie's last days when living with media rumors of his sexuality and health and finally admitting defeat to the disease that took his life. A beautiful expression of a wonderful entertainer that we will all miss....bravo
Oh my god!!! This is the most beautiful comment on yt ever!!!
And since everybody thinks she was literally harassing david, your comment should be pinned, so everybody could see it
Actually, I thought that her make up was "taken" from "Breakthrough".... I didn't know about this interpretation.... Thank you.

Rick Jones the dress she is wearing represents HIV/AIDS (Bottom) and the cheat area represents the armor Freddie needed to fight his battle(Medication) and the ways she touches David and near the lips like if she is gonna kiss him represents how u can get HIV/AIDS

This doesnt make them great. It just was a system of the only ones that could get big were funded by either radio or ticket sales. Now, you can be big but no one sells tickets anymore. Its a compeltely different way people can get and view music. If the tv only has 3 channels then all the channels will have "big" shows. Now you got 15,609,900 channels. 3:55 David bowies eyes ... he was from another world. Miss you Bowie
Apple long - He had an eye condition that kept his left pupil permanently dilated and he had one blue eye and one brown eye.
Susie Q no a friends nail scratched it so educate your self
@@SuperEvelina1234 - Well I am both educated AND correct. The condition is called "anisocoria" which is characterized by unequal pupil size. The origin was believed to be due to a punch from a friend during a fight BUT it is still a MEDICAL CONDITION due to trauma to the eye that affects the muscles which allow the pupil to dilate and contract. A superficial scratch would cause a corneal abrasion which will heal. This was more severe. Because one pupil is permanently dilated, his left eye appears darker than the right making one eye look blue and one darker. Don't argue with a nurse or you'll lose. :)

Clearly one of the best songs ever written and Annie Lennox makes such a beguiling raccoon. This performance nearly brings me to tears every time I re-visit it. David Bowie, such an iconic presence, artist, performer. When he died a part of me died as well.
Not a beguiling raccoon. Annie is cosplaying "Pris" as seen toward the end of "Blade Runner" (1982). Daryl Hannah sprays black airbrush paint over her eyes to look like a mannequin among J.F. Sebastian's menagerie. This terrific performance of "Under Pressure" was in 1985.

The best performance of the entire show.
The shot of John Deacon from 0:47 to 0:52 is one of my favourite moments from live music. On a stage filled by 5 legends it would be easy to be overshadowed. Especially by the huge on-stage presences of Bowie, Lennox, May and Taylor. It's a wonderful 5 seconds of footage as Deacon sways to the rhythm in an old pair of jeans and a t-shirt, smiling reminiscently as he mesmerises the crowd with arguably the most recognised bassline of all time.
In discussions of 'rock greats' Deacon can be easily overlooked due to his quiet persona. I personally view him as one the greatest bassists of all time. He's also my personal favourite, just pipping John Entwistle for first place.
Two of the most recognisable and greatest baselines of all time - Under Pressure & Another one bites the dust. JD is a legend 🎸🎸🎸
I always felt like this song right here always showed how important a bass guitarist is
Bowie said in an interview something to the effect the genesis of the song started with John Deacon playing around with this bass line when Queen and Bowie were messing around in the studio.
Good old deaky
The drummer and bassist are often the unsung heros who without, they're would be no band. But they usually are content with being on the sidelines knowing this and that's enough.

His voice was unique :/ May he rest in peace.
In respect to replacing Freddie.
You are right yet instead of replacing, this preforming, is honoring him and his talent.
I would suggest that the prospect of letting an artists music die with his own death if proposed, this would be every artist nightmare.
To continue preforming their work is in fact saying the music was and will always be special, its worth it.
And my god, Freddie Mercury sure was special so I hope thousands of people take on his songs.
(Noting that this song was preformed & written by Bowie, Mercury and the rest of Queen.)
