Net Proceeds from the sale of this release will be paid to the Mercury Phoenix Trust -Fighting AIDS worldwide.
On April 20th 1992, Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon, the surviving members of Queen, took to the stage at Wembley Stadium for the start of one of the biggest events in rock history, which the band had organised to pay tribute to their former colleague -- the incomparable Freddie Mercury. Queen were joined by some of the greatest musical talent in the world to celebrate Freddie's life and work and to increase public awareness of AIDS, the disease that had prematurely ended his life the previous year. As well as being great entertainment, the concert raised a huge and still growing sum of money for the Mercury Phoenix Trust, a charity formed at the time whose charter is the relief of suffering from AIDS throughout the world. Now for the first time both halves of the concert are being made available on Digital video.
Special guests include David Bowie, Gary Cherone, Roger Daltrey, Def Leppard, Joe Elliot, Extreme, Bob Geldof, Guns 'n' Roses, James Hetfield, Ian Hunter, Tony Iommi, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Metallica, George Michael, Liza Minnelli, Robert Plant, Mick Ronson, Axl Rose, Seal, Slash, Lisa Stansfield, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Young & Zucchero.

#TheFreddieMercuryTributeConcert #Queen #SomebodyToLove - Hudba
I think we need a tribute concert for George Michael.
Agreed!!! Maxwell would be a great choice!
God, yes!
Sadly I don't think we'll ever get one because with the exception of a handful of singers they would butcher his songs because he had such a phenomenal voice. Adam Lambert and Rob Lamberti would pretty much have to do the whole tribute concert. That would be okay with me though!
I gotta be honest...I'd love to see one, but who? Adam Lambert is a tribute to Fred as well as being great in his own right, George?? I'll give it some thought.
@greg acosta Did you ever hear George Michael tell the story how Michael Jackson disrespected him? He went to Neverland as Michael insisted George go there and they were going to discuss doing a single. He said after Michael made him STAND in the foyer for half an hour then Michael was sitting across from him on couches and Michael would not talk to him directly. He would talk to his manager and tell him to talk to Rob kahane to then talk to George. George said this guy is straight-up crazy, no amount of money is worth being disrespected in this way and I want nothing to do with him. It was either 87 or 88 George sold more records than Michael. I agree with your jealousy assessment. George could easily sing R&B pop and dance music, wrote his own songs and played on them and could dance. Strikingly gorgeous he was....defined as normal. Definitely things Michael Jackson wouldn't like.
George never had to imitate anybody. He always stood on his own.
George Michael maravilhoso 🥰🥰🥰
Totally agree, he gave a hell of a performance just being him. He nailed it to the point that I prefer this version of the song, no disrespect to the goat.
You know, a lot of covers in general fail to stand out. Many covers try to be just like the original, and when people do that it almost never works because it doesn’t make the cover special or memorable. And it’s even more difficult for Queen songs because of Freddie’s ridiculously versatile voice.
But George Michael came in and sang the song with his own signature voice and style… and the result was BEYOND PERFECT! It feels very memorable and special ❤
Freddie was definitely smiling watching this performance from above.
He is hell, sadly.
When Brian May gives you the nod of approval, you know you done good. Well done George, well done.
how bout adam lambert?
@@dnlmrcl Brian and Roger adore Adam. Roger says Adam's voice is one-in-a-million and Brian says Adam can sing anything.
Freddie sure must have given him the thumbs up after that performance wherever he was.
Una canción muy difícil de cantar gracias george
Ahahaha not the same… universe even
George was the only person capable for doing such a cover for Freddie.
George made it his own.
Amen

@@jaggass Well, George did it justice. OK, George killed it. But in no way did George make it his own. I know whatcha saying, but don't say that. 👍✌
FN: "George was the only person capable for doing such a cover for Freddie.“
Marc Martel: “Hold my beer dude”
George's voice was just unbelievable
Its so light and calorie free.
George sang beautifully without any instruments when I first met him in the early 70's....:-)
Agree 💯 sad he’s gone but grateful for the music he left us
George took this performance seriously. He rehearsed for days. He didn’t want to let Freddie down.
The BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE i've ever seen. The (big) crowd is so amazing. No mobile phones, just pure love. We need a time machine... 😂
Yeah man, totally. The other performance I love is duet with Elton John
No one had ever sing a Freddie Mercury cover better than this.. ever..

George Michael is George Michael, not trying to be Freddie Mercury. He does a fabulous job on this song!!
Agreed. It was a brilliant way to end the concert too......
That’s what a lot of covers fail to do in general. Trying to be just like the original voice doesn’t make the cover special, you know? George Michael came in and sang this song with his special voice and style… and the result was BEYOND PERFECT!!!
It's because they were just way too fabulous for one man they needed two. 🤩
As much as I liked Adam Lambert I think George topped him, never thought George could have pulled it off but he was amazing, brilliant, super, 2 amazing singers left us far to soon, so sad but glad they left us their performances on Utube forevermore
What a divine reply... both gone, neither forgotten.
George Michael was a music genius, no doubt. He passed away too early.
Freddie Mercury and George Michael two outstanding talents gone too soon.
But you must not forget their positive influences. Legacies never die and both have very strong legacies :)
George Michael has proven why he was one of the great singers of the world.
The greatest in my opinion.
@@antinellasolari1518 I agree
You can add to that songwriter and performer!
Definitely. I have to agree.
@@antinellasolari1518 the greatest is Freddie but George was really good
There is no way to overstate this man's talent. RIP George.
Couldn't put it bettter! Thanks a lot and KUDOS for your brilliant comment.
One of the best live performance ever. Stop.
I agree. George michael deserves a tribute!!!! The best!!!
Freddie sitting in a cloud. **"Absolutely fabulous, darling."**
Darling ❤️
So true 😂❤
This is a real tribute. He simply gave his best. And he did it
Sadly, another voice and performer gone way to soon, what a great and generous person with his time and energy! R.I.P Gentlemen!
@Owoade Dolu
Romans?
In case somebody doesn't get the Persian part - even though Freddie's family is from India, they are actually Indian-Parsi by descent - Parsi meaning Persian.
@Owoade Dolu
But I'd say that the English are primarily Anglo-Saxon (modern-day North-West Germany - Anglo = Englo = English) - with the previous local Celtic population in part being driven out to Wales and Scotland and in part being assimilated would be my guess.
I don't know how much of the population was Roman - although probably a significant part of the Roman population were romanized Celts.
He nailed it
@@mikehenningsen8796 died on Christmas Day
Very few voices could have made love to that song like George Michael did, in honor of Freddie. ❤❤❤
Freddie Mercury and George Michael, what talent they had. 😢
Oh damn so true. Both have such a gorgeous voices and nobody did Freddie like George.
No one else should ever have sung with Queen after Freddie except George. No their voices were not identical. But their passion, astonishing musical energy and style were. So sad we lost both so young.
still can't believe how young they both were, heartbreaking
Can you imagine how horrible it would have been for Brian and Roger if George sang with them and then he died himself?
George rocks!!! A excelent singer!!! Love him!!!!
What year was this?
Freddie Mercury tribute put on bringing Brian and Rodger, 1992.
George wanted to do Freddie and the remaining members of Queen proud. He nailed it. Bloody fantastic performance.
I dare to correct you - Divinely fantastic performance ❤
Incredible performance. George Michael was unbelievable.
George Michael is one of those legendary artists whose music shouldnt be duplicated unless the singer can actually bring it. Unfortunately I cant think of any artist today who can match his talents.
Freddie wouldve been proud.
He made this song his own, without hijacking it. Just brilliant.
Exactly right , he was honouring Freddie mercury with that perfect performance of that song thank you George micheal
Brian May's smile says it all about this incredible performance.
41bmc Brian May always so serious. It’s nice to see him smile
YES!!!! 😘😍
And you can see him walk over to Roger to say holy crap, can you believe how good this guy is??
definitely.
They though that moment would have possibly be the last one to sing these big songs for such an audience... Now there is Adam!
RIP Freddie, and RIP to George who was also singing out his pain and suffering for his partner Anselmo (RIP) who was in the audience that night and secretly struggling with AIDS, only to pass soon as well. That background gives this whole performance an entirely different dynamic that gives me the chills every single time i watch it.
Every time I listen to this I just think Wow how good is George. Freddie would be so proud….
Nobody can sing like Freddie Mercury, but George Michael is the best vocalist cover Queen has ever had. Brilliant performance
Cough cough* Well that one time brian and roger played with Marc Martel. that was literally the best
Agreed--- GM had one of the best voices in music history !
ROFL
Adam Lambert pays MAJOR RESPECT. 🤗✌️
Agreed 👍
George was one of the few people who could match Freddie in vocal range and power. Absolutely nailed it. Just brilliant.
I think it’s because he didn’t try to replicate Freddie, he brought his own natural energy, had fun on stage, and rocked it!
His vocals are insane bro
He’s brilliant. I will say that his voice gets a bit thin on the edges of the range where Freddie still had full power. But Freddie was a unicorn. So I’m not gonna hold that against George.
If Freddy is a 100… George Michael is about a 97. This was remarkable.
Oh yeah. George Michael and Freddie Mercury were probably long lost brothers. I so miss both of them. xx
@@alexandriaocasio-smollett5078 There's an interview of George where he talks about not being able to reliably hit the high note on that song. George unabashedly acknowledged Freddie's remarkable vocal talent.
George Michael was a master of the craft
Freddie and George, two of the worlds most beautiful people. What voices, music has lost so much without them. What showmen. And George is the only one who could replace Freddie
Agree 100%
That smile Brian gave, that's when you know you've done good!
True but that was for the crowd.
Yeah, noted that smile either) I think he was remembering an old times at this second. It's a little bit sad smile, as i see it)
Yeah. I saw that too! Like a sign of approval! Bravo!
@@modeo92 there’s another video where they show George at a different angle and you could see Brien with huge smile on his face , and you know it’s for George !!!!

Oh man....how rich you are, thats unspeakble
and soooooo damn handsome, beautiful George
It should have, it was only the greatest live performance ever, George Michael was incredible.
wow
Ohhh, Lucky you !!!!🥰
While I never liked his music, I always understood how much talent George Michael had as a vocalist and a performer. This illustrates the full spectrum of his unique ability - his incredible voice and range, his charisma, his stage presence, all of it. Nobody could ever REPLACE Freddie Mercury - but this guy was seemingly made to sing with Queen. He owns this uniquely without ever attempting to directly emulate his idol. The aboslute joy and passion he feels oozes out of him in this performance. Just incredible.
You don't like wake me up by wham either?
The best performance of that night, they were all on top of their game,..,George was exceptional,. impressively fantastic
Best version of the guitar solo from Brian, he really stepped it up for Freddie

One of the greatest vocal performances of the modern rock era. Especially given the gravity and majesty of the moment, George Michael honored Freddie with an unparalleled performance for the Ages. This, this is what absolute artistic perfection looks and sounds like.
When Brian May gives that nod and smiles right after GM gets the crowd to finish “Looooovvveeeee” that’s priceless. Perfect perfect perfect.
It sure was!! I never ever get tired of watching it. I love George Michael and I love Queen. ❤🎶🎼🎤🎧🌈

É de se arrepiar
Oh yes, I noted that expression as well..,what a moment
This is an extremely difficult song to sing with the range that is required of going from high to low so quickly. George nailed it. No one else could have. It's just a fantastic performance from one of the most gifted artists we've ever seen on the planet.
Axl rose could have done it but it’s not really his style.
Adam Lambert. Equally talented and the range
@@stephrepp4226 Yes I agree but certainly Adam Lambert was not an artist then when this concert transpired.

It is not only the best performance of this tribute concert, it is definitely one of the top 5 performances ever. Such a brilliant voice and overall performance!
