NEVER TOO SMALL Tasmanian Island Off-grid Tiny Cabin Hideaway - 28sqm/300sqft

  • This off-grid cabin is an escape from the high stress of busy work life. The brief was to capture that and design a building as a piece of furniture with everything the client needs built-in. The only furniture allowed was a low table and mattress on the sleeping loft. The cabin opens onto an east and west deck, capturing morning and afternoon sun while affording views to the south. A high roof allowed solar panels and a skylight to catch sun from over the trees. Designed by maguiredevine.com.au

    For me, the ideas in czcams.com/users/postUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.

There is also a little drawback if one glance see all or lacking a sense of depth in the living area. Maybe a decent size bonsai plant with a branch reaching out esemantically as a focal point in the cabin, contrasting the existing centre of attraction, the outside woodland wilderness is a sheer joy.

    Not seen too often in architecture reviews, and over emphasised in landscape reviews, the arrival portal is next level when it comes to the conceptualising of ‘place’ and building. An exploded threshold, a framing device that extends the footprint of the building out to the arrival. Clever and most beautifully, subtle.

      Light wood = more light and is
      in with the Japanese style.

    • @Why_It
      @Why_It Před 4 lety +17

      @@user-px6ji5sl5b Yeah, that makes sense. It's just that I think they overused the Baltic Pine. Not saying I have anything against the wood itself, but it just doesn't feel like the wood I would completely rely on for a minimalist design with it's naturally knotty appearance. Those knots distract me every time I look at a wall or the ceiling.
      I'm not an architect or a professional interior designer, but I believe the inside could benefit a ton from more variation of material other than Baltic Pine. Looking at 2:14 , the black accents on the floor in front of the kitchen and door, on the stove, and on the light fixture are beautiful. Having more accents like that could definitely make the unique features of the architecture pop and actually give more stuff for peoples eyes to be drawn towards.
      Comparing that shot to 2:23 , if there weren't any decoration and it was purely the material making up the room, my eyes would blend all that wood together and nothing really stands out to me. The table, shelves and stairs are beautiful in a Japanese minimal design stand-point, I just wish they stood out a bit more with minor accents or something.

    • @TripleTuner
      @TripleTuner Před 4 lety +12

      @@Why_It I think it wouldn't even play against their idea of 'one object' if they used a different color for the insides of the shelves for example. It really bugs me that the objects (that come out of the wall essentially) really fade into the background. So I can only agree with you, the house is missing at least some sort of contrast to give the details more shape!

      @@Why_It You also have to realise while you are not an interior designer, this home was designed for the homeowner and not for the interior designer or architect. Perhaps the homeowner likes the natural grains, and they wanted a more uniform look. At the end of the day, they are paid to design for the homeowner's lifestyle and aesthetics. It's not a showroom for them.

I'm from Kenya in the cooler forestry parts like what is shown here and its never really an issue at all even when it hot esp since air conditioning is not really a popular thing in homes since we just open windows or spend time outside at work or in school or in your business. The only thing is mosquitoes which annual fumigation takes care of very well.

    That outside tub is terrifying!! But otherwise the house is gorgeous and the though behind the architecture is very unique and thorough

      I'd say invite them to stay for the rest of the day. Eat dinner with them. And everytime you have a conversation, you look them straight to the eye. Don't blink then smile. At this point they might change the topic and start complimenting the place. Just say "yes, nobody can hear you scream".

    Wow, this cabin is stunningly beautiful! I really like the Japanese architecture plus the "little bit of concrete" there is in the bathroom. Just amazing. I don't even have to talk about the view, right? Wonderful!
