Whitney is so much more pure, clean, powerful, with perfect diction. Her notes are really so much fuller with resonance. The main difference, however, is that Celine is giving a performance, while Whitney is just singing the song because it should be sung. The difference in the ability to emote is the difference between east and west. Whitney was born to do it.
I think everyone knows that this song belonged to Whitney and still does, and that year belonged to Whitney. While Whitney's version is the *best* version, no one can deny that Celine blew the roof with this song. It might be a matter of taste, and preferences, but don't count Celine out.
