I just got this set up yesterday. I had a heck of a time updating the firmware. After several failed attempts I figured out that you can't use your mouse or keyboard if it's plugged into the integrated USB hub ports while the firmware is updating. A simple solution would be to connect your mouse or keyboard to your pc directly, or wait until the firmware update has completed. I hope I save someone the frustration of figuring it out.
Also, I can't find the eye comfort setting. I saw it in the menus as a demo before I updated the firmware, but it's missing after the update.
Does the monitor have a screen control app you can download? If so check there.

That, and he likes to watch Blade Runner 2049 too (which, to be fair, is a fantastic movie).
I have got the LG C1 VESA Mounted and I'm never going back to another kind of screen setup! It's just so freaking awsome!! and also the C1 actually has support for 20-120 Hz instead of 48-120Hz! So its smooth all the way down to 20 fps so to say! and it shows! Love it!!
I have been using an older LG EG9100 OLED for years since it came out as my daily monitor for work and gaming, and I love it. I use an xbox controller for gaming, and sit on my couch with wireless hardware. I have zero burn-in, and it still works as well as did on day 1. I don't think I can go back to anything else besides OLED. I actually like the dimming you mention as it saves my retinas from blowing out with those ultra bright whites. It's most likely for burn-in protection. I'm surprised he can sit so close to this without turning the brightness down quite a bit. I would prefer a 32-34" for sitting without 3-4 feet, and am waiting for those.
have you noticed any screen door effect?

7467 hours of responsible use on a 48" CX as primary monitor and never a reason to regret it's selection. The picture still looks perfect and zero IR/BI, though I've taken routine precautions from day one to prevent IR/BI... A solid black desktop, zero desktop icons, and a 3 minute signal-off screen saver are all I've used in addition to the built-in features (ABL, pixel shift, etc.) Other than that, it's been non-stop gaming, streaming, and movie watching to hit 7000+ hours in only one year of use. Much of that time is power on with nothing displayed on-screen (maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of total power-on time is actual on-screen time). I'm actually kind of curious to see how long it will last before I can see a noticeable difference in picture brightness or quality. OLED is the pinnacle of gaming displays whether using a TV or a purpose built OLED monitor. I paid the same for the CX as this monitor, so there's no difference from a pricing perspective. IMO, I think I'd rather have the Smart TV features over a dedicated OLED monitor with no built in apps because I use it for both gaming and streaming.
That's an awfully long winded way of saying "I'm coping really hard with the fact I bought a TV to game with my pc"
Meanwhile I have had this monitor since day one of its release. I have thousands of desktop icons. I leave it on and running allllll the time. I can relax in my own home without fear of my pixels crumbling to pieces.
Because of this review, I scoured out for this monitor as soon as possible and found the last remaining stock in my country and hurriedly went to the store and bought it.
Best purchase I've ever made so far in my life! 😁 Been using TN, VA and IPS monitors for years and they does not come close to OLED.

Thanks for the informative video. There’s just one advice I would like to give about the cinematic black bars: In order to avoid “computer turtleneck”, you could lower the displayed pixels part of the screen and in doing so, double the height of the top black bar and make the bottom black bar disappear, if that monitor has that option.
never in my life have I given anything more than a passing thought to these dreaded "black bars" that seem to guide so many-people's decision making. One thing I do know is that all display prices are in freefall and a 32" IPS gaming display I am watching dropped in price twice over the weekend and although it is sold on NewEgg, the price was so absurdly low I still felt it was a scam. It wasn't, it's just what is happening with what seems all electronic equipment. With OLED gaming displays, I want to know how screen burn is addressed, it's all I care about as the way in which I game, my displays will be put in situations in which if they are susceptible to screen burn, they will. I don't want to see a ghost of my Valheim lobby for the next 2 years...

With a screen that big, do you still put your webcam on top? Or is the angle too high and had to figure something else out?
@@jmd1980 It depends. The angle/height isn't an issue. It's more a matter of preferring to position the webcam near the video window. Also fire Colton, cause only him would share unlisted video's link lol
Did Colton leak this?
How did he leak an unlisted video

literally what I was thinking while watching the video
why you need Linus
how mad are you?
Getting an ultrawide for my desk and very excited
The best part of this video was the Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance wallpaper. What a GOATed game. And still active 16 years later!
I can't believe Linus also plays Forged Alliance Forever....
You've taught me so much about tech, would you allow a fellow ACU to teach you some tips too? :P
Forged Alliance also supports multi monitor, would be really cool to see more Forged Alliance testing videos.
The bigger question at hand - has he re-played that risk map from the tech hoarder video yet
@@JonnoHR31 Yes i remember watching a video where he was playing it.
@@ageekhere do you know which video that is? Want to see it
The day I get an ultra wide monitor Linus uploads a video about a better monitor
Not too late to RMA.
F
Eh, idk about better. It's really preference. I tried having a monitor this large and I don't know how to describe the experience besides "break your neck" kinda feeling. It sucks, honestly. You have to sit so far back that you can't reach your desk to get a comfortable viewing experience. Ultrawide is definitely the winner in my opinion.
@@DarthLeopard I agree, i tried going bigger and it sucks for me, absolutely not comfortable, and whats the point when i have to move 2 meters from my desk, its just a glorified tv on my table at that point. 34 inch curved ultrawide is where its at imo. Not small yet not too big.
@@DarthLeopard well, use of bigger (deeper) desk or a wall mount is sorta solving that.
i stopped trying to find a resonably priced large 4k monitor. went with a 43" samsung qled. pretty damn nice screen since im not doing competetive games as much these days. still ave my 32" 1440p 165hz va panel, but i really like the color depth and quality of 4k with hdr. may not be quite as nice as an oled, but its a DAMN nice screen for the price.
Just got mine from Micro Center. I love it
This monitor allows me to take full advantage of my Xbox series X, PS5 and PC!
They all work amazing. 4k 120 looks beautiful (on games that allow for console).
The LG C2 is on its way, but I wanted a monitor without all the Smart nonsense build it. (also Elden Ring is coming out in less than 8 hours lmao)
Linus today: "Ultrawides are DEAD" *sponsored by company trying to promote new large display
Linus in a few weeks: "Ultrawides are the future and this one will rule them ALL" *sponsored by company trying to promote new wider display
Not that I defend him, but he did say that it's the price that is the main reason it's not worth getting ultrawide since you can get ultrawide options with cheaper alternatives. He never said ultrawides are bad, all though the title is annoying I agree.
Yes czcams.com/video/4mgePWWCAmA/video.html

what a madlad
I wonder what a dual-monitor of this would look like
basically a sized up dual monitor setup
ah the new aurus, they look pretty good from the specs. got to love that dealer warranty stamp
Oh it's a Gigabyte monitor. I wonder if it has an exploding feature too.
No, but they're known for dead and stuck pixels as well as a warranty only worth as much as the paper its printed on.
Gigabyte makes some pretty BOMB products. Really BANGIN’ electronics. I heard their deals are FIRE too. Such a HOT company.
The problem with Gigabyte is that thier RMA is really terrible. I used to work in RMA and all the stuff that was returned to me was Asus, Gigabyte, Razer and Kingston drives. It was really annoying. Worst experience with a company in my entire life. I will NEVER buy their products. Always breaking and wearing out.
I am totally gonna save up for this bad boy and wall mount it in my room because my desk is one of those weird corner desks. :) Gonna be a fun summer project for me. :)
Supreme FA can do 2 monitor play natively, so I was expecting you play it on 2 of those monitors
A huge difference between this monitor and an LG 48" OLED is HDR brightness. This monitor tops out at 400 nits while the LG 48" OLED gets up to 800 nits.
I was just about to comment that this doesn't seem all that much bright.
Lmao...I'll get the lg tv then.
I wonder if that is an intentional choice to prevent burn in issues you might see with the TV.
I think part of that comes down to viewing distance. With the Aorus, you're only going to be 2 feet away from the display whereas you'd be 5-6 feet away from an LG CX (at THX recommended). 800 nits at that size and at computer desk distance would be blinding, I'd reckon.
@@Kayametra you reckon wrong. The distance of how close you are isn't going to change anything when you are looking at the actual light source.
Linus: Has built in KVM
Me: Nice
Linus: you can use TWO computers
Me: cries in cross-domain developer (currently 4 laptops)
Hey Linus, I suggest checking out the edifier s350db 2.1 system to replace your old Corsair speakers
I still use my CX 65" for my gaming PC. Mounted the TV and moved my desk 5 feet away, I think I have the sweet spot here, unless I get the 77" and move another 2-3 feet away.
I love watching these videos with things I only could dream of buying

4:24 Wow Linus does not know that you just do video just over a USB C cable now wow! Linus is definitely a display port and HDMI addict.
I have been using the LG48C1 OLED as my main monitor for almost 6 months and loving it.
how quickly would a game like WOW suffer from burn in with 7-8hr /day use?
@@rf2948 there would be burn in
we need more 4K 40" 16:9 panels! ... using a 42" 4K TV as desktop monitor since 2015
LG's 40" OLEDs should be coming within a year.
Yes! That seems like the sweet spot. I have a 50" and you can't sit as close as you would like.
Funny to watch this after the deck review. Its like smol screen to jumbo tron.
Heheey, neat idea from Wendell indeed! Maybe I should drop 2560x1440p down to 2560x1080p ultrawide in games that struggle with maintaining good 120+ FPS.
Not sure if it improves FPS, guess it depends on game engine if it uses deferred rendering or not, and how it interprets render frustum, etc. Still worth a shot though.
Supreme Commander Forged Alliance has always been one of my favourite games and still play to this day - nice choice of wallpaper!
Does Supreme commander FA have 4k support? Can Linus get max unit cap on a monster pc?
He tried his Best to sell it but he knew from the inside of his heart that it's definitely a difficult sell. His honesty in his expressions are very much appreciated, thank you for staying true for us the consumers and creators.
It looks like he is disappointed in it. He isn't wrong though it doesn't offer enough to out do a TV and I don't think many need a 48" monitor. 15 (laptop) to about 32 is good for most I'd say.
Price probably doest justify the need
Yeah, he said it's a lot more expensive than the C10, but didn't give any numbers.
And the 'advantages' were... some vague thing about the warranty, and display port 1.4??
@@NoCokeOnlyIce i'm never going to buy a computer monitor that is over 27 inches. 32" is too big for how close you sit.
@@KeppyKep Plus USB-C input and USB hub - it's also cheaper than the CX in Australia so 🤷
I love to see he still uses the corsair sp2500 ive had mine for so many years. Best you can get without going into depth of monitors and such. Trust me when I say this model is old
Excellent video. Liking this Linus presentation style. Naice!
bruh im dying on how linus synced up with the animation at 12:37
LMAO
This monitor also designed to explode at 60% utilization?
Yes, it absolutely does, after 2 minutes of usage. 😄
Yes as soon as you start sweating in ranked matches.
@@liviubita4238 But Gigabyte claims only if you show a test pattern on it.
im thinking about getting this and doing the 1440p ultra wide on 4k pabel thing but i feel like its asking for a burn in issue. uniform burn in will take a long time to become a problem but i think leaving wntire chunks of the monitor off for hours at a time could result in some visible lines pretty quickly
Well I mean movies have black bars anyways so I would think it would be no different...
The c - port can be used for those hdmi multi connectors wit a c - port in the end and more hdmi connector on the other side
Holy crap, thanks for pointing out the scaling options in the Nvidia control panel! I was trying to figure out how to make games run properly in 16:9 on my ultrawide for games that don't support UW very well. This is awesome!
"Only 4k 60fps"
Yup, we reached that point
The wealthy sure did lol
Well, for the people that were lucky enough to snag an RTX 3090... or even 3080 or 3080Ti.. sure. For the rest of us who are stuck with lesser cards because we refuse to pay scalper prices, then lesser resolution is just fine.
I need that Supreme Commander Forged Alliance background
Wendell always give practical advice 👍🏼
