    Hi, well explained at the end with the none return valve, I do have a built in bottom drain in my pond to my multi bay filter, but as I have gone along and learnt more, I now this year have two bakki showers with a retro drain feeding water to them, but I learnt I needed to put in a none return valve in which I my case sits in the pond on the pipe work, my pump sits on the wall and I had to plumb in pump purge uprights lol, your system looks great with what you have done well done again, and you are happy and smiling great. You are right koi are expensive and you never stop I'm still going after 4 years the Joys lol.

    You're almost there now and just a few little bits to finish off and you're ready to relax and injoy your pond for the summer. If I was you I would use the Sieve in front of the pod as they are great bit of kit and will save your pod and moving bed having to be cleaned all the time. Just my thoughts! 😀

      Hi Darren - Thank you for your message. Yes I did think about it, and tried but I am limited in high and it means that the pod would have been then gravity fed, which is not great as it's a complete one with the UV. To be fair, I am one of those who cleans the pod every other day.. But what you said make totally sense.

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Frank, i am in favour of cleaning a filter everyday. So EazyPod get fleshed everyday in late spring, summer and autumn. The vortex of the Multibay gets done every other day. Tempest every other day too. So everyday I change the equivalent of 80 litres. I replace immediately that water via a 3 stage dechlorinator going to a black vessel going to the second bay of the Multibay. I don't have any chloramine in my water but chlorine of course. I would never put tap water directly into the pond. Hope this helps.

      @@steventoole897 hi Steven, I have replied above a few days ago. What kind of bottom drain have you got? One like me which is pump fed or a Draco one which allows you to covert to gravity? As explained above, the pump can effectively be outside the pond, below the water level. You will just need to prime it. But if your bottom drain is a purely pump fed one, like mine, then your easypod needs to be above the water level, so it effectively returns to the pond by gravity.

    Hi 😊. How do you prime the pump?

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi, you need to fill in the pipes with water and make sure the water is already touching the pump basically. You need to put your variable pump at 100%. At the beginning you will hear some girgling going on, and within seconds, the air is gone. After a minute of running at 100%, you can turn your variable pump to the desire speed. For this kind of set up, it is always best to have a valve before the pump and a valve after, slide valve or ball valve, whatever you prefer, this way you can isolate the pump should you have to do any maintenance to do on the pump. And also, it will prevent your water from the filter to empty but also prevent the pipes to empty.

    • @BrizzleKoi
      @BrizzleKoi Před 11 měsíci +1

      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection thanks for explaining that...makes total sense. I have a similer setup to you with the retro fit bottom drain and thinking about taking the pump out of the pond

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @BrizzleKoi yeah depending on your pump, it will work better outside the pond. If you pump is exposed to the element, then take care in winter that the pump doesn't freeze if you have it outside the pond. But if your filtration system is in a shed/filter house, then you will be fine.

      Hi, thank you for the comment. It's been working well for the past 4 months 😊 I agree with what you said and that's the reason why I put a midway return in the same pipe so the air can come out and create inside the whole pipe a pressure.

    Hiya, great videos :O) I am just in the middle of my own pond build and I will be having a similar set up to yours, I was just wondering as the return from the eazy pod is going down to the bottom of the moving bed was there any need for the eazy pod to be so far off the ground? I was going to have my pump fed eazy pod sat on the floor with the moving bed sat beside on the floor the return from the moving bed reaches just above top of the pond, I hope this makes sense Lol do you think would this be a huge mistake? please somebody help Lol

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  Před 3 lety

      Hi Jo, I was really concerned about the risk of the pod to overflow. Also, in my case, I am going to split the return from the Pod to the existing aerated bed and a multibay which will also have a UV there. The pod gravity feeds the aerated bed, so I need maximum pressure. I personally would not recommend to put the pod on the floor. I was advised not to lower it either by Tim from Quality Nishikigoi. But before you solvent weld it, you can also try dry fit. If it doesn't work or if the pod floods, then you will need to put it higher.
