hahahaha "Didn't have to go very far, did we?"...followed by AWESOME TAPE...very smooth.
I work at a UPS facility in the US. Those videos of Chinese throwing around the boxes are about the same as here.
Sad to hear this.
kindsword Huang yes it is however it's unavoidable due to the massive year over year increase of packages being shipped from companies like Amazon and other online retailers. Over time improvements can be made.
Interesting and shocking to hear
I was in a Fedex and it wasn't like that. They used conveyor belts and fork lifts. One of those places where planes and trucks were loaded.
Of course , imagine its broken and paid for and it has to be shipped back .
“How do you say ‘bubble wrap’ in Chinese?”
“I sell it by one pack”
“Thanks for not answering my question”
Ben Song install pleco app. A good Chinese dictionary.
Ben Song 气泡布qìpàobù
Or
气泡膜 qìpàomó
I wonder if she thought he said "How do you sell bubble wrap in Chinese?".
CZcams makes the rules. If they did not favor certain length videos in the algorithm, no one would have to worry about it. Don't hate the playa, hate the game.
He literally just said "How do you say it" and she might think he's asking "How do you sell it"
Dang! Wynston can make a video about any mundane topic and pull it off.
Ericsurf6 I need you to make some more skateboarding to convience store videos
There are numerous guides to squat toilets out there m8. Even raunchy ones ;)
"That place with the kiwi birds?" Lol, having a little fun with the translation
I've been ordering stuff from AliExpress for years and, to my huge surprise, NOT EVEN ONCE I had a package lost or damaged. It takes a while to arrive, but arrives every single time. It's black magic.
It’s pretty awesome to see this process through another perspective. Thank you for sharing this!
This is really good and relevant information. Thanks Winston.
I love the side shot of the packages being offloaded from the truck. Reminds me of watching luggage being loaded on my plane when I fly. 😂
Damn subtitles always crack me up
Dragonfreakgaming are the subtitles automatic? Some of it translated to Spanish haha
uscbruin213 lol the auto subtitles are funny too but referring to subtitles integrated into the video
love how they just let you put the data in yourself :-)
AAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Love the subtitles hahaha. Chinese being a subjective response language ( which I love ), you coloured your impression perfectly haha. Keep it up mate.
Love how she put your bags in a bag
Really ! Without a tasty, flavor added translation thus conversation would be doll..lol! SerpentZA you are a wizard! Keep it up and we'll stay awesome!!
Sean Alcorn that seems to be a thing in China especially when you buy food to go. Waste of plastic lol
Awesome video Winston! Thank you once again! Hopefully I get to meet you when we go to China!
You should have put a plastic cover as it will protect from the rain
it is not needed.
We always use FEDEX priority to and from China. We have a company contract we we get it for under USD30 (EU/China). To USA/EU it costs only USD 15.
Winston, you're about the only person I know of that can make a video about posting two boxes interesting...that's a genuine skill. Also killer subtitles, I always get a chuckle out of them. Cheers for the video.
would be good to insert an accelerometer into the package to check its handling conditions
75g+ no problem. These Chinese can accelerate a parcel from a dead stop to 45mph in a single second no problem!
that's like 2g ^^
It would probably arrive at the destination with a broken accelerometer.
I ordered some items that got mailed via Hong Kong Post...I received them in NY in 2 days!!!! I can't even get a package from Pennsylvania in less than 3 days and that state is just a couple of hours away! My shipping was free to boot!
Yep I've bought Camera equipment from HK before and took only around 3 days to arrive in the UK.
Shenzhen ain't Hong Kong...
It depends how angry the postal sorters are, if they're pretty calm they'll just throw your shit hard enough to damage it 80%. But if they're angry, they throw it so hard it crosses the pacific
I'm always amazed at how a company like AliExpress can send most stuff for (next to) nothing (to Canada). Often, by REGISTERED mail!!! And I've only had maybe a 1% loss rate. Gotta be gov't subsidized...
Awesome video as usual, keep up the good work!
This is my new favourite channel, thanks for the fun interesting chill videos.
awesome video as away Winston :)
The addition of the side vids showing all the neglect to take any consideration to the packages made me laugh so hard although it's not funny. That is wild footage Winston. Hilarious. Another great upload my friend. I hope your phones get to the destinations in one piece!
Great one mate! Love the GFS and B-Roll!
I just recently discovered your channel and I'm hooked. thanks so much for giving me a good insight into the world of China. x
I’ve always wondered about this and how my purchases get handled. I’m having some electronics to be delivered to me here in Taiwan next Tuesday and it took over two months. Now I got an idea of what they might’ve been through!
Hahaha that intro “Well, didn’t have to go so far now, did we?”
Dude, you rock! Keep them coming! 🤘
Really interesting Winston, great video...Thank you from UK
Excellent subtitles.
Awesome videos! Greetings from Sweden!
Let's be honest. If it doesn't make it to where you're shipping it to, someone in China now owns it. They open all packages and see if they want it or not.
I really love the new sort of videos you've been experimenting with lately. I realize that the vlogs were kind of out of necessity and a challenge, but it was still a great change, and it's really fascinating to see your unique perspective on life in China, in a more organic way (that is, seeing you experience things like shipping, being an undercover tourist, etc.)
Ah... That magical yellow-orange-ish tape.
i really enjoy watching your videos keep it up
A person can always learn something new from your videos, Winston. Thanks.
Those people were super chill about being filmed. I really like these kinds of videos. Getting to see what every day life is like in China is fascinating. Love the gratuitous food shot!
I just went to the post office in Kunming and they packed it for me in a box and it was not expensive. It just took a very long time because I had chosen the cheapest option but it did arrive in the Netherlands in the end. It wasn't a chaos at all, they couldn't speak English and I can't speak Mandarin but they did help me properly.
the guys that where kicking the shit out of those boxes hahahahhahahah
It's not funny I ordered something from China I'm scared now
I like how you actually go outside and let viewers see actual experience. Been in and out of China and I really like the place.
Excellent videos. Thank you Serpentza.
Why are they throwing packages so aggressively?!?
It looks like they're angry rather than negligent... strange.
probably they get paid very little and are educated even less and if you watch more china videos its pretty evident that taking care of somebody elses stuff is not something they really do as a culture. So short answer; they don't give a fuck about doing a good job and its more fun this way.
I highly doubt you have seen videos of USPS employees kicking a ton of packages off of a truck or throwing them into the back of trucks like they were garbage.
That is insane, surprising if anything gets delivered not broken.
It's pretty much the same everywhere. They'll drop it with care only at your front door (but even that doesn't happen all the time).
On the other hand, I understand why they do it. Online shopping is rampant these days and every delivery route has to be precisely calculated along with the time spent at each destination.
Love your work. Hi from Dominican Republic
Just found your channel a couple
Days ago and have been binge watching. Thanks so much for showing us this stuff.
Loved this video! It was very helpful also....
Hey Winston I own a shipping company in the UK I have an office in Shenzhen hit me up next time I can sort you out.
I'll take you up on that!
Sure thing just let me know! my wechat is davidturley29
@@davidturley4916 may I add your wechat too?
Wassabi😂😂😂😂
what was that about? o_o
He said hello, right?
Randjan I think it's like "Whussa Bb?" which is "What's up, baby?"
I think calling the Chinese lady "lass" was a nice touch!
What's up B. What's up bro
Spot on with the subtitles once again!
Good content!
Enjoyed it
“That place with Kiwi Birds?” LOL
Coulda been worse.. he didn't mention sheep
MildlyInfuri8ng I ain't sharing! Get your own!
jon otaki Na wasn't me unfortunately.
Dude these guys have the best interjections. every time I read the subtitles I'm so stoked. "The whole shebang" "without a paddle" "that place with kiwi birds." It's so great lol
That's hectic but a awesome kind of hectic
Interesting video. Keep them coming.
Amazing videos fantastic insight truly glued
I’m only 13 but I absolutely love your content, been watching since 2014!
I been binge watching his channel for about a month now was playing Anri and old 80s J-Pop songs and stumbled here best random channel I found on You Tube
Awesome mate! Keep on staying awesome!
serpentza thank you! I love your videos and I want to move to China and learn Mandarin when I’m older!
I have two relatives from Pakistan/Iran that live in China for like 6 months they go back and forth they are import traders I think they usually live in Urumqi in Western China.I am learning to speak Turkish and Arabic over the summer I plan to take Mandarin classes for my trip next year
Usman Ali Chohan Wish you luck!
Great insight into how the Chinese "machine" works. Leaves me perplexed why sending phone to Philippines from over is next to impossible given that shipping is a well oiled machine there.
Thanks for another good video, Winston.
I'm a relatively new subscriber, but I've already watched many of your videos on this channel. Looking forward to more! Rather than watching T.V. shows I find myself watching your vids in my free time as they are so fascinating. Thanks for all the amazing content and effort put into informing everyone about China.
omg those videos of the dudes unloading the truck...
DudeRevolution yea it's bad but u got to remember this happens alot in other parts of the world were they handle packages or luggage
Not just China though, fairly certain people in any country do this. Some people just don't get paid enough to really care, or are just in a hurry.
I have ordered electronics from china and so far haven't had a problem. Not beat up and just under two weeks to Tennessee.
i order my leather newsboy caps from china, 2 weeks is about as long as it takes for me to receive them too.
i wish it only took 2 weeks haha i ordered a 132gb micro sd for my go pro for my trip last week that i ordered march 6th and have yet to get it haha, 90% of the time it takes over a month for me and im in Georgia
well I'm in NJ, two weeks is my average from a china purchase from Amazon. however, last year i ordered a patriotic shower curtain in april (for Memorial Day). It tracked in the same location in china for weeks and weeks. finally it shipped and i got it something like 3 days before MD. i ended up leaving it up til after 4th of July just so i could legitimize the purchase.
haha id leave a shower curtain like that up all year, especially if it was clear on top and it made you look like you were riding a bald eagle holding an american flag while you stood up to take a shower haha
big sellers might also have a better arrangement to get stuff overseas
though I did notice that the stuff I've ordered from china was usually packaged pretty thoroughly ;)
Very fascinating, thanks for sharing the process 👍
Haha love your translations :D
Thanks for make me smile at the early morning
9:02 zero fucks bus driver, MOOOOOOVE
Bitch, I'm a bus!
Great insights
lmao! Love these subtitles you put in! thumbs up!
Great video! Cheers!
What, no GDS? ;^)
More to the point, please share how long it took each package to arrive, and its condition upon receipt.
Yea I was thinking the same if they threw it on a freighter and it took 3 weeks to arrive then $30 USD is way to much.
Why would it be a problem to send to Denmark? Maersk is Danish and is the world largest shipping company (I used to work in the HQ here in Copenhagen). Granted, you're sending by air but as long as the batteries are not separate but included in the product packaging, and it's less than 100Wh total capacity it's not a problem (I've designed batteries for my own company's products we get produced in Shenzhen and get shipped to Europe).
Samsonite Dove I always thought maersk was Norwegian?learn something new every day.
Digging the outro music! Thanks for the link in the description!
I like the vlog style of walking around in China and learning things about China. It’s a gud idea, tbh. Gud job!
I buy things from China quite often. I had a 3kg box that was sent from Shenzhen via DHL, and within 3 days it was in the UK and on my doorstep and it only cost like 270rmb. I wonder how certain places can offer shipping for much better value than what you were offered here. I also had something I ordered on the 28th of March, arrive by the 5th of April in the UK, and that was sent by China Post Registered. I only spent 18 quid and that included what I was actually buying. There definitely seems to be some good options for international shipping from China at least. I guess it's just a mix of knowing where to look, and knowing who to know.
because the government subsidises Chinese companies so for a Chinese company, shipping is free
But that's Chinese businesses shipping, they get preferential rates, often with government subsidies on top. I tried to send a large parcel from Shenzhen and the prices I was quoted were ridiculously expensive (the local post office didn't even want to accept it), so I ended up sending it from Hong Kong instead with no issues.
I am not an expert but I guess shipments from China to UK take a big leap since the cargo trains come to service. czcams.com/video/kENU0SqovSE/video.html
Always choose China post for UK as you tend to avoid import duty.
DHL won't release your parcel until you pay duty and charge an extra £16 fee of their own .
Because the stuff you buy from china, more often than not they are sent by a company that is contracted with the specific courier (they also get better rates, so while you paid 270rmb for it, they probably paid more like 150rmb. 120rmb profit they made on "shipping costs") Consumers sending from, or to China don't get any discounts. Additionally, batteries counts as dangerous goods to ship, so if somebody checks the content they will immediately "dispose" of the parcel because it isn't labeled correctly. Also, always attach receipt to the package, to show the value of the goods. This way if customs decide to tax it, they have the necessary paperwork to make that determination. Otherwise they will hold the package, and if there is no contact information available, the package will be "lost".
Winston I love your videos man, please stay awesome 👍
Another great video ♥
Thanks for your awesome video,Winston. As for a Chinese subscriber ,I think you're much more objective than some western media. You can try JingDong 京东 or Shunfeng 顺丰 delivery next time. You will surely be surprised by their incredible efficiency.Their shipping speed counts by hours!
What is that strange coloured paper with numbers on that you gave to the woman? I'm in Beijing, we use our phones for all payments, LOL
FoodforThought hahahah yes, that was a strange thing hahaha
Your a good man Winston.
I find this simple video rather interesting. You've learn a lot from China logistic. Thanks for the video. I appreciate it!
Love these videos and seeing an insight into the real world of China
looks like tossing around packages is an international thing, almost every country does it
The 80's style ending was top!
Sadly the track did not finish. :( I loved that track.
Satans Haze reminds me of those PBS shows from the 80’s or 3,2,1 contact segments
Track Info is in the description. Look it up and you'll enjoy it until you are fed up with it.
Like watching an 80's action flick montage starring JC Van Damme.
Cant get enough of your content, only found you last week because of Strange Parts.
Love that you stick around after uploads and look at comments! :D
That translation lol.
"Bueno, entendido!"
3:09 "Bueno, entendido"
Always cracks me up !
Wassabi
Does anyone explain it? Bit of confused about this subtitles. Make no sense to me..
I am currently teaching in Jiangxi Province and just mailed out a couple letters to home back in the USA for the first time, I had to pay 190 yuan! For letters!! So I am almost afraid as to how much a package would cost....I also live in a more rural town and am the first person to ever mail anything outside of the country at this particular mailing place, they had to call 2 people to try to figure out how to do it lol here's hoping they make it!
The supply and demand, there are many demands out there in Shenzhen and competition is big, therefore cost cheaper for you. Jiangxi as a inner province of China, it is better to find out someone who lives in big cities like Shanghai Guangzhou Shenzhen to help you send out there. you can use the domestic package first which is very cheap too.
That does make sense, I am afraid that I do not know anyone that lives in those bigger cities as of yet, but thank you for the information! I will keep that in mind the next time I try to mail anything! :)
I have many times! However sometimes my parents prefer the old fashioned way ;)
It is funny, because all that can happen to your package in european handling is e.g., that it gets dropped unintentionally. That is, what your company has to consider in their packaging, but not such a treatment...and that for nearly the same price. That is aweful and I wish, decent countries, if the relations to china get worse due to racism and closing its borders, we completely cancel business with them and dont allow their products anymore...less copycat products, less issues...sure you have to pay more but as it seems, some products from china are already same price + less quality + no guarantees that are handled very well... with such an attitude, this would crumble sooner or later. Experts dont have their opinions about japan and korea is far superior in all they do from thin air. It is a huge. junkyard with opportunity and the opportunity is, what makes people being attracted to it. Not much else, if this western influence wouldnt exist. Even phobes are just using, what others developed. A oneplus phone was essentially just using the same components as a galaxy s6 e.g.
I am writing from one...but tbh: It is bad to see that. At least the quality isnt typically chinese...but islt is essentially them going to the factories and under the hand get parts, tzat were designed by other to put in their phone.
That was some amazing footage
Hey Serpentza I haven't been receiving your vids in my feed. I love ur channel. I clicked notifications now just to be sure I do get them.
Thanks mate
All I know is, shipping from China is the only way I can afford to buy anything from eBay anymore. :p
Ripplin I buy plenty of stuff from China, never had any problems. Only problem postage can be a bit slow to arrive sometimes.
So, I recently bought a bunch of keyboard parts from a Chinese shop called KBDFans, and while all of my items ended up state side with no issues I'm so glad they did after seeing how few fucks are given in the world of Chinese shipping and logistics.
Canaan bought shit louds of stuff from china never had damaged product, phones keyboard, speakers etc
This is because E-commerce is too popular in China. In my former Chinese university, The courier company had to deal with 2000-3000 packages a day. There are probably more than 25,000 students in the school. There are always some courier who think they work too much pressure, the income is too low, so take this video to put pressure on their employers. I can tell you this is not common. There are different express companies due to different prices, services will also have a difference. If you want to mail mobile phone, it is best to choose expensive one.
everything i bought from china was always very safely packaged. i understand now why.
Good luck in the rabbit hole mate.
Ive had good luck with KBD fans but good luck trying to find my tracking number using that weird website
Hi Winston, thanks for letting us look over your shoulder and viewing life in China! I really like the candid street scenes of everyday life. Thanks again.
So fascinating! I never thought I wanted to learn about Chinese shipping
I recently sent my old iphone6+ to my sister in UK from China using DHL.
They charged me 400 rmb !!!!!! and despite promises/assurances/guarantees of 5 days delivery, AND providing me with a tracking # which was pure fiction, the phone took 11 days to arrive.
BUT now my sister has had a letter from DLH (followed by several increasingly hostile phone calls) demanding £75 IMPORT DUTY !!!!!!!
Has anybody else had similar issues with UK customs?
Not only the UK
Dhl sucks dont use them
UK is famous for its absurd rate importy duty and tax, and DHL is infamous for always declare the FULL value of anything (new or not), while courier like EMS , etc. (handled by ParcelForce) usually help you smooth the process by declare something lower.
This is normal in all European countries. Customs of the country will randomly pick up packages and check whether they are 'legally' imported (= tax payed). If they think that tax is not payed, you pay the tax. These checks are random is most cases (They can't check all packages :) ). I know that, in case of DHL in my country, all the packages are checked above a certain value. If tax has to be payed, DHL will do that for you. That's why DHL is asking you for that money. Usually they do not deliver the package before tax is payed.
In Australia , we don't have to pay any tax if package value is under AU$1000, also with free trade agreement with China, no one care how many package been sent over.
I truly give the Chinese alot of respect from how far they have come from the past. I have lots of Chinese friends and iam part maori with maori up bringing and we bond with our cultures and it's mind blowing when we all think about it of course only pist lol
I'm also from NZ. currently living in China. I find it amazing how many older chinese guys actually look like older maori. It has to be the stocky kind of older chinese guy. I find myself looking twice just to make sure.
wayne elliott wow I've been all around the world but not China
One day 😊we have bomb fires and smoke our meat from ither diving or hunt get the guitars out and we're all one family 💗
i would have thought you both would know how to spell "Maori"
seth1455 oops thanks for that have corrected it
I love that you added subtitles to the parts where you're speaking mandarin, makes the video easier to follow.
Always wondered what it looked like on that end when you order something ! Cool ! Stay Awesome Bro !
Thank for uploading, going to sent something out off china
New Zealand is a trading country and we supply a shit ton of wood to china surprisingly, just recently learnt this from a logging show that's recently been airing.
AXZ 96 they also take our milk
Ramen Noodles lol
Ramen Noodles true
Calder R havsn't seen them with a white hand on their faces for now though...
So maybe they are still trying to go undercover...
You guys should think about the environment instead of deforestation
You are an impressive young man, really coming into your own in life. The drone shots you do are unparalled even by "mainstream" productions-they don't have your spontaneity. Your human interest factor is off the charts great.
Winston, you are a good dude to do something like this. One of the reasons I watch your channel faithfully, your stand up honesty and open handed friendliness. I love watching your interaction with the Chinese....and I also like to see your pretty wife! LOL You're a lucky man, brother! Good job, well done!
The thumbnail has a Danish flag and Denmark is immediately mentioned, I like this video!
In your daily life at home, do you and your wife speak to each other in Mandarin to help you learn Mandarin, or English to help her learn English? Or do you alternate? Thanks and stay awesome.
I am a college student in Texas. Going to be spending the summer in Shenyang with a friend. Your videos help me understand Chinese thought process better. I am also learning how to speak it too. Thanks for what you do.
Nice video. Fun to watch.
