    Keeping grains, sugars, emulsifiers, and processed foods out of your life is a winning strategy in addition to adding the right probiotic foods.

    Really good episode.
    But I didn’t quite understand.
    As I understand you talk mostly about IBS symptoms.
    Do this suggestions apply to SIBO suffers as well?

      Yes, some people even use the terms SIBO and IBS interchangeably. Also recommend the book SuperGut by Dr William Davis.

    When your body is going thru a healing crisis...u dont know what is good for u. Your body is reacting to everything...sometimes you just gotta go thru it.

    • @CulturedFoodLife
      @CulturedFoodLife  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi Paul, It's not that your body is necessarily reacting to everything. It's that the good bacteria are at work assisting the body in purging out the excess bad bacteria and toxins. So you just have to ride the wave. But stay away from processed foods and sugar if you can and drink lots of water. Keep in mind I'm not a doctor. But this is what I know through my own personal experience, through helping others and through research. I thought you once said that kefir doesn't like Ultra Pasteurized milk. A2 milk in our stores all say they are Ultra pasteurized, even the health food stores. Should I try it to make kefir?

    • @CulturedFoodLife
      @CulturedFoodLife  Před 4 lety

      Hi! I got my A2 milk from a local farmer so it was raw. I would avoid it if you can only find ultra pasteurized. The kefir grains do not do well with ultra pasteurized milk.

  • @marialissetteneiracuadra8348

    Donna I have IBS constipation . I notice more bloating mucus in my stool and pain when I drink milk kefir . I use raw milk for my kefir .
    Can you help me with some tips . Thanks

    • @CulturedFoodLife
      @CulturedFoodLife  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi Maria, this is almost certainly a healing crisis. A healing crisis occurs when you are going through a detox. As kefir is such a powerful food and will assist the body in detoxification. As you have a lot to heal from you will most certainly experience this. While the healing crisis is not fun, it is necessary and oh so beneficial in the long run. The bodies way of purging excess bad bacteria, yeasts, heavy metals, toxins and more. That being said you can go slower and start out with less and then gradually increase to help. Keep in mind I am not a doctor, so I can only tell you what I know through personal experience, research and through helping others. Actually kefir is high FODMAP unless it has added lactase and is labeled lactose- free. I believe kombucha is also considered high FODMAP.

    • @CulturedFoodLife
      @CulturedFoodLife  Před 4 lety +3

      Kefir is 99% lactose free. The fermentation process consumes almost all the lactose. You can read more detail about FODMAP and cultured foods here: www.culturedfoodlife.com/the-fodmap-diet-for-sibo-ibs-and-probiotic-foods/

    • @kamwolf3960
      @kamwolf3960 Před 4 lety +1

      @@CulturedFoodLife I hear what you're saying. Nevertheless if you looked it up online Kefir is listed as a food that should not be consumed on a low FODMAP protocol. They specifically state that it is only the kefir which is labeled lactose free should be consumed. Why do they say that?

    • @CulturedFoodLife
      @CulturedFoodLife  Před 4 lety +3

      @@kamwolf3960 I've seen many heal from having milk kefir that were doing FODMAP because it is 99% lactose-free. You can also consume non dairy kefir made from nut or seed milks. But that being said you don't have to do anything I say. Always trust your own instincts.
