  • This is the final part of this project; I hope these video series were helpful or maybe inspiring! I still need to experiment and learn how to master this versatile machine; I will try to put it to use on future projects. Thank you for watching, feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions.
    Here are some of the items that I have used in this build
    Workbench casters: amzn.to/3smoAhQ
    Aluminum Extrusion: amzn.to/3Law6oF
    Linear stage actuator 200 mm: amzn.to/3JqQwIr

    Masterful….. absolutely mesmerizing to witness this level of precision and accuracy. As a new woodworker, I have regularly asked the person who’s been teaching me about the craft why mills are more prevalent in wood shops? As far as projects that utilize mortise and tenon joinery, they seem to be a far better alternative than mortising machines. Plus, most small mills can also replace a drill press in addition to adding the other benefits they bring to a wood shop.
    Thank you for sharing your work, truly impressive sir.

  • @awldune
    @awldune Před 2 lety +2

    Seems like a digital read out (DRO) would be useful here. I would think a lot of people might ask, "why not go one step further and make a CNC?"

    • @TheWoodCrafter1
      @TheWoodCrafter1  Před 2 lety +4

      Actually there are two DRO installed on the X and Y axis, it was done on a previous video! About making a CNC, I already have one so I don’t need another one, I assume that you already know how much time it takes to setup the CNC to make a cut! This manual milling machine is faster to setup and much easier in many situations! Maybe I should add a servo motor to control it remotely 🙂, not now for sure ! Thank you for your comment

      @@PeteHowlett absolutely, this milling machine is not for making curves or engravings, but it can be very useful for dovetails, tenons, finger joints and for quickly flatting small workpieces etc., although it is true that all what I have mentioned are still can be accomplished using different techniques with a router and some sort of jig, it happened that I've found some parts with very low cost that contributed to forming this whole project and this might be inspiring in a way or another for some folks, this type of machine is good to have but not a must.

    Perhaps on one offs, this is a nice machine. But for production...too much set up. And to use it to cut 45 angles for a 90 corner is somewhat on the crazy side...I mean use a miter saw man...as god intended!

    • @TheWoodCrafter1
      @TheWoodCrafter1  Před 2 lety

      Actually it wasn’t made to cut miter cuts, you are right, I was just showing some examples, but it also can cut 45 miter tenons with shoulders assuming the right bit is used and perhaps that can’t be done on the miter saw for production though 👍
