  • How to make a beautiful wooden bowl without using a Lathe or a CNC machine.
I wanted to make a beautiful wooden bowl without using a lathe (as I don't have one), or a CNC machine.
I also wanted to try and minimise the amount of wastage generated and use only the tools that can be found in most woodworkers workshops.
The detailed plans can be found on our super new Etsy store:
    www.etsy.com/uk/listing/14011...
I'll pop a link here to the Circle cutting jig (mentioned in the video) as soon as its released.

Jig plans complete with 3d printed components:

Tools I used in this video:
(some of these links are associate links, I may (if I'm lucky) earn a small commission, however it won't cost you a penny (or cent) more, and thank you if you do. 👍

Ignore the negative comments. I don’t know why people just can’t move on if the content isn’t what they are looking for. You do have a nice workshop and yes you have a lot of tools. However it’s also a well thought out and well presented instructional video. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for and I will be giving this a try. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

I just finished building the handrail on my deck czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z and used this great little router to clean up the top rail before the final sanding and stain. It was light weight but packed lots of power. Either size battery didn't seem to make it top heavy and I'm a 64 yr old women so I really appreciated how easy it was to use...................... CORDLESS only way to go !!

Well done sir. I have added this to my list of things that I want to make when I have time. I wish that people with negative comments will think twice before sharing. It is so unnecessary.

Graham, received both sets of plans. Now, I need to clear some space & rearrange some projects so I’m ready when I get the jig hardware.
I’m thinking the first one will be out of pine, as a learning bowl.
Thanks for your videos, your knowledge, help & sharing this with the community.

This is a great looking bowl, ash really does pop! The jig is ingenious. Not a criticism, it would be a bit more work: inset the bottom in a rebate so the seam doesn’t show on the side, add one more layer so you have three even layers. I wonder what claro walnut or zebra wood would look like?

Graham, Thank you for the clear instructions in the Etsy file. I am from Canada but do not have metric guide bushings. I am trying to figure out how to convert the circle diameter dimensions for use with Imperial dimension guide bushings (3/4" OD 21/32" ID) and 1/2" router bit. I do not have a 1/2" router bit with a top bearing. What wall thickness is the bowl when you use the 278 mm diameter outer wall jig and 251 mm diameter inner wall jig? Based on the description the outside diameter of the bowl is 278mm. Is this correct? Mark
