Your TriStar keeps demonstrating it's value, running all kinds of ammo, and that Burris sight doesn't look bad either.
It runs great and shoots good too. It's a winner in my book! Thanks!
you put the ammo and that little TriStar through the paces. hit all the high points and even slipped a OG reference in. how could anybody ask for anything more? Great Job Buffalo!
Thanks Larry! I do the best I can do and love every minute of it while I'm at it. I am truly blessed to be able to make these videos.
It’s nice to see somebody who’s really enjoying himself when he shooting. Some channels are just going through the CZcams motions. It almost looks like a chore for them.
The minute I stop enjoying it will be the minute I stop making videos! Time is our most precious commodity and we have to spend it wisely. I work all week so when the weekend gets here I wouldn't waste it on something I don't love! Thanks for noticing!
Buffalo's Outdoors thank you!
This channel deserves way more subscribers, Buffalo has been consistently very professional, unbiased and a good shot to top it off. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for that. I appreciate it very much.
Buffalo's Outdoors anytime Buff.
I appreciate the realism of your videos...including your misses with out editing those misses. First time I have heard of this shot gun....think I will check it out....thanks from Montana. Have a super day!!!
You made that little 410 shine like it's big brothers. The whole video amazed me on how well the 410 can be used in home defense as well as hunting. Great job again sir👍
Thanks Scott. You know me brother I really enjoy shooting stuff like this! If you ever see anything on my channel that you wanna take a look at on your channel just holler at me and we can make that happen.
@@buffalosoutdoors thank you so much
Great videos on this Viper .410 Sir!!... Just bought a new one today on Gunbroker & got a fantastic deal!... I can't wait to get it & have some fun with it!... I became addicted to .410 last year when I got my Henry, they're so fun to shoot & don't beat you up!... I think I saw that you had a video on the Henry .410 too, so I'll have to watch that as well!.... Thanks again for your time & knowledge!... Be well & God bless🙏🏼🇺🇸🗽
Buffalo, that video was the best I have seen! You hit every issue I was interested in and now I have to buy a Tristar Viper .410 with defensive ammo. I love your videos but I spending a lot of moolah. You are very good at making these informative CZcams films! Thanks!
You would make a great salesman. That was a really good presentation on ammo and shotgun.
Thanks! Maybe I should get a commission from some of these companies! LOL Just kidding of course...
Thanks for this video and thanks for the review on the different types of ammo. I like your video's cause they are straight to the point and practical. I have appreciated your channel for a good while now.
Thanks so much for this comment. I get a lot of comments telling me I talk too much or that I need to get to the point so it's nice to hear from someone who sees it the other way from time to time. Have a great night!
Love that .410 ! And I would take it turkey hunting, But now they make you wear a mask when you go to the grocery store and I would just get in trouble with it. LOL! 🤣👍 Thanks for sharing!
Ain't that the truth!
“Thats gonna cause some serious irritable bowel syndrome “ , 😂😂👍 absolutely love it , great vid
LOL! I say some weird stuff sometimes 😂🤣😂
Sweet little .410 great video, looks like you have the lead pretty well sorted on those clays 👍👍🇦🇺
Thanks 👍 it didn't take much to get it sorted!
Appreciate the effort you go to!
Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍
Thank you! It is a lot of work but I truly enjoy it and am blessed to be able to do it!
You sure are wanting me to spend some money. I was wanting a new .410 and now I know which one I want to get.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you! I sure do like this one.
David Vance Not yet. In the future.
That was one great video on that shotgun. I didn't know about those discs and bbs in the .410 gauge cartridges, Wow. Take care and stay safe.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. The best to you and yours!
This video series has made me want a .410 now!
They aren't everyone's cup of tea but I really enjoy them. Thanks for tuning in!
A timely video for me I just bought some of these in one day of freedom we had in California.
Awesome! Glad I timed it just right! :) Thanks for watching!
I wish I could give a 2nd 👍 for the OG tribute 😁
Love that guy!
"That's gonna cause some irritable bowel syndrome right there". Buffalo, I'm really a fan now😄
You have opened my eyes to utility of a 410 shotgun. I just subscribed!!
Hey Buffalo. Another outstanding presentation! Brenneke rifled slugs are, IMHO, the very best rifled slugs in all gauges. Also 000 Buckshot at close range is an amazing loading since the 000 pellets are still flying one behind the other and tend to “Hammer” their way through the target medium.
Thanks Kent!
Nice one Buffalo.
Glad you had the PDX1's because I have some and was wondering how they would perform. You are MY trusted source for firearms, ammo and accessories. Keep up the great work. 😎😎
Thanks wildbill! Those are some mean rounds. I'd hate to be on the business end of anything blasting those out!
@@buffalosoutdoors they look like they may have a bit of a sting.

Yeah I saw some of that. I hate that for the good people up there.
What a great little deer gitter!
Very well done, entertaining, and informative, perfect. You have amazing talent buddy.
Thank you kindly!
Great video, Buffalo, I love 410’s, I shoot skeet with a Browning 525 in 410, not because I’m good but because it’s just too much fun.
Believe me I "get it". I love doing that kind of stuff even though I am not that good at it. Shooting a .410 makes it so rewarding when you do get those hits though!
That first 1:22 video segment, almost made me go and lock up my 410! Hahaha!
Yessir, I do like that Tri-Star 410, especially with the Red Dot Sight mounted, which is what I have on my single shot.
Thanks for this , Buffalo!
Ha! Thanks. I really like this set up. Hope all is well up your way.
@@buffalosoutdoors Health wise,..yes,...as far as gun owners like me,..not so good.
man i love the 410 you have... looks badass
You’re always saying if you purchase a gun based off my review and don’t like it in your videos well I purchased the TriStar Viper G2 410 turkey based off your review and it’s been absolutely 100% worth the money. Now I have purchased the TriStar Silver Viper G2 28 gauge also based off your review I’m sure it will be equally the same. Love your videos keep up the good work. Also if you wouldn’t mind contacting me I have some questions you maybe able to answer.
Thanks Buffalo
Nice job Buff
Thank you Trees!
Buffalo as always great content and superb shootn
Thanks Mike!
16:20 I like how it skipped off the ground and still hit the steel target lol
I didn't even catch that until I was editing! pa-ding!!!
Awesome video my friend.
Great video as usual sir. I was just wondering how you mounted the optics rail on your viper. I want to ad one on mine.
Not only informative, but Super cool too! Thanks Buffalo !
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Nice videos Buffalo.
Great review! Can you do a 5 shot group accuracy test for those slugs at 50 and 100 yards? There a probably some guys in shotgun only deer states that would use it for deer.
Love that gun. Thought you would like a red dot on it. Thanks for another great video.
That red dot brought it to another level! Thanks!
You're a good shot, Bro!
Thank you and thanks for tuning in!
One good set up and package....Good stuff.....
Thank you Scott! You are a rock brother!
In my opinion, the Brenneke .410/2½" "Close Encounter" slugs make a great home defense round for recoil sensitive folks. Of course, I am talking about them in the context of long gun use: either in a well made and reliable pump action or semi-auto. Out of the muzzle they are scootin' along at about 1500 feet per second and packing about 578 foot pounds of energy out of a 109 grain projectile. Not bad at all really. Sure, it's no 12 gauge round but it's an excellent choice for those folks who simply do not have the strength or may be very sensitive to recoil. No pistol alternative will provide the stopping power; especially when these folks would likely choose something like a S&W 380EZ, and with a .410 shotgun they may find that manipulation and handling of the weapon around the home is easier and maybe a bit more natural feeling for them as well.
Those Brennekes ain't no joke. I shoot the Close Encounters out of the Henry Lever .410 since it's chambered for the 2 1/2" shells and they are mean. They drive deep too.
100 gr 327 magnum out of a 4 in barrel has about the same velocity.
Just subscribed love your channel. Did you have to sight in (adjust) your red dot for your TSS turkey loads?
I got to admit, I'm really starting to like that little gun.
It's bad ass
I like it a little more each time I get it out. I appreciate you watching!
Good one. Thanks mr B
Very welcome!
Beginning @ 17:00 with 2 types of ammo you can see slo-mo flames in the breech when the bolt locks back on the last shot.
Oh come on, you could go down to the border of Tennessee and Kentucky, and still hit those Knock Down targets dead on! 😉
I've heard nothing but good things about this shottie, and your opinion seals the deal! We have some fantastic range days coming up. I hope we share the same weather!!
LOL! OK you got me 😀😁😂 I don't know what got into me! It does look like some nice range weather moving in. FINALLY!
exceptional your channel
Thank you very much!
If you ever get a chance to shoot the Winchester pdx1 2.5" & 3" back to back you'll notice there is a significant increase in recoil with the 3" shell. I've tested a lot of different 410 loads through my circuit judge, and with the rifled 18.5" barrel the Hornady triple defense load has become my favorite.
I like the way you show what that little Tri=Star can really do. Good with the ammo too. #winningwithtimney
Thanks! I am glad that you enjoy the videos on this little shotgun!
Need to get myself one of these
Nice little rig there man!
Thanks 👍
I was just plinking with my Mossberg .410 O/U. Sooo much fun.( However I do see a reloaderin the future as the ammo is too expensive)
I'll bet that is a sweet shotgun! You're right about the ammo. >410 definitely pays to reload!
You are an impressive marksman! Hand thrown clays are harder to hit than they look. They drop awful fast!
I have one of those Vipers on my "to do" list for this year! I am torn between a .410 or 28 gauge. I'll be using it for skeet. I am really impressed with the value of those guns.
Thanks Gary! I gotta try skeet soon. Believe it or not I have never tried it. I love sporting clays and I know I'd like skeet too.
@@buffalosoutdoors I think you would like it. Unlike Sporting Clays, skeet is always the same, every field, anywhere. And you really don't need two chokes, since there really are no "long shots". I use (mostly) a pump for skeet, sometimes an autoloader, with a "skeet" choke. Imp. Cyl. works well also. For sporting clays I prefer an O/U with interchangeable chokes, because the shots vary in range so much from station to station. At my club they even change the station set ups every few weeks, so you can't get used to a certain set up.
The good thing about skeet is that you eventually learn all the angles and your scores go up. It is not unusual for skeet shooters to run up 50, 75 or 100 "straight" targets. Also, small bore guns are fully competitive in skeet, anything less than 20 ga. is a disadvantage at sporting clays. You CAN use a 28 or .410 but the longer distances of some targets just make it difficult.
Ok do you put it back on safe in between shots or does the gun automatically go back on safe after every shot? I’ve seen that in both of your Tri Star 410 reviews the turkey and standard 410.
That shotgun looks like a lot of fun. I have their Raptor Tactical in 12ga.
I've not tried the Raptor. I don't think I've ever even handled one. You like it?
@@buffalosoutdoors Yeah it works well. Cheaper alternative to the Mossberg 930 SPX.
Found you via Target Suite. Enjoyed the video. Shooting the home defense ammo made me think about a 410 for home defense except the Tristar seems too long and unwieldy for in a house. Can you recommend something shorter with even more capacity?
Any tips on shimming the stock on this? Removing the buttplate, the nut holding the stock to the receiver is recessed 8” or so from the back of the stock.
Has anyone had trouble installing the picatinny rail? the screws do not seem to fit.
Wow, looks a lot easier to hit the clays in slow motion. 😁
How is the viper holding up over time? Is it still as good today as it was when new?
Never thought of a .410 as a self defense round...any good .410 tactical shotguns on the market?
My advice: if you can handle a 20ga just fine, use a 20ga. If that's too much, perhaps .410 is a decent solution but the ammo selection would have to always been very very particular. 28gauge is also available but the ammo selection is very limited, hard to find, and only offered in one length. There are issues with the diameter of the hull not being optimal for certain buckshot sizes due to lack of decent stacking, which results in bad pattern issues that cannot be avoided.
What gas system is that inertia or gas?
Can you show how to remove magazine plug?
I would of gotten at least one of the clay targets. Ha!! I like the red dot idea. I’m going to have to invest in one. Really like that shotgun.
Thank you! I sure enjoyed being out on the range. I am truly blessed to be able to make these videos and have such a great group of viewers!
Would *have*
Bought the gun because your first video so did my buddy😂😁👍
Hope you like it! I am impressed by it a little more each time I get it out and do some shooting.
This is going to be real good
Thanks man!
Vortex has nice ones and nikon tactical spar are both nice red dots
Lots of choices out there! That's a good thing!
That 1st defense load is like getting hit with 5 shots of .38+Ps at once....... I may have to get me a .410
It would be a bad day for a bad guy no doubt!
Hey Buffalo, at the start of the video, are you trying to put the dot on those targets ?
Or just see them in the lens of the dot ?
I put the dot just on the leading edge of the target.
Buffalo I want one of the fast fire red dots for my Ruger 44mag super Redhawk also
It's great on a .44! I am torn as whether to put this one back on my .44 or just buy another one!
Nice video!👍
What kind of camera did you use while you where shooting?
The opening shooting part was recorded with a GoPro hero 8. The other shooting parts (where you can see me in the frame) was recorded with a Sony A7 III.
Hey Buffalo could you tell me what a pol. cyl. choke is comparable to. S+W 3000 12 ga
I am not sure I understand the question.
@@buffalosoutdoors It' marked POL. CYL. I read it's police cylinder measures 9/16
By the way another great video.
Looks like a handy little shotgun...
Nice bro cool video 👍
Thanks!
What is the trigger weight Buffalo?
I believe the trigger breaks at about 4 and a half pounds if my memory serves me correct. I don't have my scale here with me at the moment or I'd give it a pull for ya.
You say the stats are for pistol . Is there a governor or judge in a 410 ?
Yes. Those PDX1 and Critical Defense loads were intended for use in the judge (don't know what barrel length they tested).
What?? Buffalo missed 2 of 5 targets??? 🤣👍 Ive been curious about that lil burris. Been thinkin about mounting a small dot like that to my brothers 22/45 mk3 since it came with a rail kit.
LOL! It hurt my feelings when those targets didn't fall! I got over confident. I expected them to fall even if I didn't do my part.....IT DON'T WORK THAT WAY LOL!
Your ...gonna ...get...me...in...trouble.....I like that ...
😂🤣😂🤣😁😂😁😂🤣
Lol
Oh yeah!
Quite a nice rainbow you made there at the beginning. Did you find any treasures at the end of it? :)
You're the first to mention the rainbow! I thought it was pretty neat!
So Wannna-neeeed-gittta a 410 due 2 injuries as GI only round I can handle TY 4 video
You're very welcome and thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
Buffalo, I need your help here, brother. From the information that I have obtained, I have learned that the Burris FastFire2 is a US Made optic and have heard that the Burris FastFire3 is made in Asia. Is there any truth to this? Which one do you prefer? Thanks for the wonderful, helpful and quite entertaining videos, as always. You are definitely one of the "Good Guys"!
I have no idea about the original Fastfire or the Fastfire 2. I only have this Fastfire 3 and it is made in the Philippines. Hope that helps. Thanks for your comment.
@@buffalosoutdoors It does. I have been curious about this because I have seen a handful of FastFire2s, here and there, still being sold new and they are Made in the USA. For whatever reason, production was moved offshore. Thank you!
Never a let down you buddy. Video and info are always spot on and just plan fun stuff. I could go for a shotgun like that in the 4/10 i just have to ask is the much price difference in the shotgun and the red dot? Them two seem together like peanut butter and jelly. Dont wanna have one with out the other. Come on Buffalo whats the pair about gonna cost together?
The gun is currently going for about 550 - 600 dealer price. The Burris Fastfire goes for 200 to 230. Do not hold me to these prices. There is a reason I try to avoid talking prices in my videos. Prices tend to change and vary by local. Watch and see someone will read this comment 3 years from now and tell me I'm off on the price....LOL happens to me all the time. Thanks for the comment and the question.
@@buffalosoutdoors sorry should have know better then ask that. Thats my bad. But thanks Buffalo i did want to know. Next time ill look em up.
Dang it Buffalo! Now ya got me "Jones'N " for one of those shotguns! Any particular place you recommend shopping for one? Thanks again for the great content! This Channel NEVER disappoints! Keep up the great work! God bless!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate the kind words!
Makes a good snake gun
👍👍💥💥💥
Thanks!
My opinion is,........
Every one that buys a .410 shotgun regrets it.
The ammunition is expensive.
Even if it shoots a good pattern,.... it does not have a dense enough pattern.
And usually 1/2 oz of shot?
I believe that I have herd oh 9/16 of an ounce too.
But sometimes you can find 11/16 oz of shot,... that's little better denser pattern.
But shells are still costly for an under achiever shotgun shell.
I'd experiment with the 28 gauge= 3/4 oz shot*
But a 20 gauge 7/8, -1-, 1 1/8, 1 3/16 and 1 1/4 has done a great job since the beginning.
My experience has been I have shot many squirrels with a 410,.......but while I was picking up the empty the squirrel revived and ran away.
And while I skinned squirrels that I shot with a 22LR I would find 3 or 4 7.5's in them and you could see they were healing up*
I'd enjoy a single shot 20 gauge with screw in choke's.
Or a 20 gauge pump with screw in choke's.
But my Squirrel sleighing gun is an old Sear's Ranger bolt action gun that pulls them down out to 50 yard's no problem.
And I.m sure it would do it to a turkey too.
Aw, so nice of you to give an OG finger wave to us regulators viewers. Hey, at least I know what you mean, right? Thanks for the video, and take it easy man.🙂
Thanks! I couldn't resist! LOL
You didn't feel compelled to chrono that ammo, you just wanted an excuse to shoot some more. I ain't mad at ya.
Well.....I'm not going to argue you that! LOL
@@buffalosoutdoors Ok, thanks a lot👍
.410 is expensive even here in Iowa and there is plenty of it on shelves.
Ricky McKim it’s expensive everywhere. And has been for quite a few years now. Hopefully with the new resurgence in sub gauge shotguns we’ll see a price drop in 20ga, .410 etc ammo as it becomes more popular and more companies start producing for them.
Plenty available here as well. Thanks for tuning in!
I think you got a little too excited and made those misses. :-)
Absolutely. I do that sometimes. I was thinking that all those targets were gonna fall and I didn't even have to do my part....WRONG! LOL It happens.
👍😃✌️
Thanks!
Yeah but can you do it blind folded
Yup - a wad hitting a chronograph will ruin the day!b
a shout out to the 2 thumbs down. try some honey on that thumb then dip it in sand then sit on it ! I'm done..
THANK YOU 👍👍👍
Liddle cutie
Ha! Thanks!
it is a junk a very good shitgun ... 😃😁😘
do you know why ...?!?
because your gun is only one that run okay the others don't cycle with no guy of cartridge ... so long bighorn 😉
nice for a 410. not a fan of any red dots. using the red dot, have somebody else throw the clays across rather than straight out. bet you can't hit them with the red dot. You need to see the whole picture to shoot something going side to side, the red dot is not going to let you see that. By the time you see it in the red dot, it's going to be too late.
course I'd just get a 12 gauge and be done with it, for a guy my size, recoil and what not is no problem.
toot tall I have a Fast fire red dot on my shotgun and it’s fine for shooting clays.
@@lukethomas8493 how so, doesn't it block your side view a bit? Most people would use one eye with one, and that's a sure way to miss with a shotgun and clays.
@@tootall5559 you sir must have never seein @BUFFALO shoot and he uses kentucky windage
The biggest factor is to have a shotgun that fits. If it fits you make hits.
