“If you don’t challenge yourself you’ll never know” Thanks for saying!
the sound of those Mercurys when they fire up will be worth the wait, luv em.
They do sound wicked, I can't wait to hear this one.
Your channel is fantastic, and ever since my son and I rebuilt a little 1969 alumacraft we both enjoy your channel. Keep up the great content 👍
That is awesome! Thank you two for being regular watchers of the channel
Hi Michael, Just a suggestion for a talking tee-shirt "IF IT AIN'T BROKE;FIX IT TILL IT IS". And maybe with a medium picture of a boat & motor on the shirt as well. I'll purchase the 1st one from you. Thanks for your time in making these videos for us. Oh by the way; it's now 2023 (31:52) lol. Have a beautiful day!! Illinois, USA
Thanks for the merch response, Yeah when I was editing I noticed I said the wrong year too. People like us are the last reality TV that is real. thanks so much for watching
Neat little boat, looks like some good bones to work off of. Looking forward to seeing the transformation!
You and me both! I hope I can fix the beast. Thanks for watching.
Tower of power was my dream engine from the 70's aluminium the dent should just pop rite out
little bit of pressure and I think I can work it out. Thanks for watching
Looking forward to the project. Thanks for posting.
Stay tuned, fun stuff coming, thanks for watching
Michael I'm so Happy you now have Big Outboard I've been wanting to see you work on bad ass Outboard like 90 hp or bigger
I'm excited to remove the cover and look inside and see what we can do to it. Thanks for watching.
I like the way these older motors sound compared to the newer four strokes models
Something about the old two strokes for sure, thanks for watching
Another great one Michael. Looking forward to see how you deal with the big dent.
You and me both! I got a plan for the dent and I'm pretty sure I can make it better. thanks for watching
That dent will buff right out no problem. Good as new.
maybe a little rubbing compound to boot, thanks for watching
Great deal, that style of boat is my favorite with the walk through now. Maybe you could cut out the dent and make a small pass through door,it's just an idea, thanks for sharing. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞
Walk through, that's an interesting idea, thanks for watching
This is going to be great! Both the motor and the boat. I can’t wait to see both!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😁😁😁😁😁
I'm excited to get started on it myself, thanks for watching
Looks like you have great opportunities with this boat. Can’t wait to see how you bring the dent back into shape.
Thanks
Tim
Fingers crossed! I have a plan, hope it works, thanks for watching
Hey man. greetings from Denmark. I've seen all your videos. Most of them more then once. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do! Glad you enjoy the videos, thanks for watching
The Big Dent looks like it’s gonna be a good project . 👍👍👍👍Good music good footage 👍👍👍 As always Sir thanks for the ride along . Keep’em coming
Will do for sure, thanks as always for commenting and watching
Really enjoy your ambition. Love the resurrecting of older boats. Was thinking about your dent repair project. What if you took a a couple of 2x6s screwed together, then placed on side on the top of the gunnel ( probably 8 footers would do). Then take your pipe clamps securing the plated 2x6s to the gunnel making a top plate to pull the dent up. You would need a multiple of pulling pipe clamps to draw the dent upward. As you apply the heat you talked about I feel confident tha you can draw that dent out Anyway thanks for listening. Mike from Toronto Canada. (also a big fan of JB weld)
You are coming close to the plan that I have to pull it up. thanks for watching
Looking forward to the repairs on this boat.
Looking forward to doing it, thanks for watching
Great find. Can’t wait for the rebuild videos
Me neither, gonna be a fun one.
old mercury trolling motors have a gear drive and require oil like under water units great trolling motors ; 6 cylender mercs are great motors a must keep water pump fresh in them . I have a 1990 cajun 17 ft bass boat with a 1978 115 hp evinrude love the older stuff boat looks like new
Thanks for the tip, I will check that out for sure, thanks for watching
Looking forward to seeing the footage of how you straighten that wrinkle on that Alumacraft. Call it The Wrinkle
I really like that name, thanks for watching
God bless the boss where would we be without are boss I been married to mine for 35 years. At least the tree fell on the opposite side of the control box. port a power will probably take a lot of the damage out of that boat
All very true, thanks for watching
Can’t wait!!
I'm excited to jump on it, thanks for watching
thats going to be a great project boat. nice find. one thing with aluminum is it stretches real easy. the side will come right out but the gunwale may have stretched to the piont you need to cut a sliver out straighten and reweld.
Thanks for the tip, we shall see for sure, thanks for watching
Working on Mercurys Tower of power engines, just make sure their cooling system is in optimal working condition ALL OF THE TIME. Those inline 4 cylinders (and up) engines's blocks and heads are very heat induced warping sensitive. Most have ended in scap yards prematurely simply because of a slightly weak impeller or even weeds partially restricting water intake. They do generate a very pleasant metallic sound on WOT acceleration but plan on having lots of fun with multi-carbs synchronization. OMCs ypu can easily tinker with ... Mercury's designs are much less intuitive and require that you get a OEM model specific service manual to avoid endless frustration. Regards !
Thanks for the advice, I will do my best on it. I'm excited to work on it for sure, thanks for watching
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina I’m really looking forward to hear that motor very smoothly powering that aluminum boat but first get that service manual
Now soon get fishing. Cheers bud
Can't wait! Thanks for watching
Bottle Jack, some 2x4s, and little heat should take most of that dent out
we'll get er done for sure
good boat for free
I will take that 10 out of 10 times for sure, thanks for watching
That dent will come out easier if you bolt a short piece of flat 3/16" flat steel plate backing and u-bolt to the top of the gunnel and attach a come along to a strong overhead tree branch and with up pressure to assist with rubber/ poly head hammer - not alot of heat- Good luck!
We'll give it a try, thanks for watching
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina -Good strong living hardwood tree branch 5' dia or larger or a tractor bucket with a hook or a chain fall I- beam if you have access- don't get hurt
diaasemble the gunall and push and hamner with a rubber hammer and say some magic words and you can make it look like new. as for the water leak on the spark plugs. its the gaskit on the water jackit cover on the head.. one of my boys has a lund that had the same dent and we worked it out. my outher son has a 100 hp merc with the same leak and we are going to fix it this summer., good luck and have fun.
Hey thanks for the input Badger, many thanks, and thanks for watching as usual
All hail, The Al Gore Rhythm!
thanks for watching
I keep making silly comments to improve your CZcams Algorithm. You put all kinds of work into these videos. It's the least we can do.
It will still catch fish!
Darn tootin it will, thanks for watching
I have worked at a tire shop for over 30 years, we do not repair tires over 6 years old.. Unlike fine wine tires do not get better with age.
Wow, that's the first I have heard on the 6 year mark, thanks for the info.
I have to say if I had a boat with a dent like that. I would probably bolt a finished piece of hardwood over it and call it a bait-cutting station.
I may be a hick!
I'm going to use that idea to start out the video on that damage repair, we are going to have fun with it. Thanks for watching
Hicks are among some of the best people I know. I have to admit I just got the Al Gor rythem joke about 10 minutes ago, thanks for the laugh and supporting the channel.
I worked with aluminum for many years at Boeing and to straighten small dents is one thing but a large area like that I suggest you cut it all out and fab a new section and braze in. You can try after cutting that section out to straighten it as a test but aluminum will crack when bent even with heat and your talking allot more than just map gas for larger areas. Fabbing a new section and brazing it in would take less time and look allot better.
Thanks for the info! You know me, I gotta try, I have a technic in mind and I hope it works. Thanks for watching
Can you do anything on putting a kicker motor on a starcraft inlander
Oh sure you can, If I remember I will show you the kicker plate on mine. Thanks for watching
Hey Michael let me know How motor Runs I'm interested to see what wrong with 90 hp mercury
it will all be documented here for sure, thanks for watching
A little frowning gunwale is nothin.
It won't slow it down for sure. I think I can bring it around, thanks for watching
