Love it! I've now started showering mine after detecting, with a car wash and wax solution (a tip I got from The Discriminator). Works really well, and you know what? I can finally put the Simplex up and down, without the shaft getting stuck. Who knew it just wanted a bit of Simonize?? :)

Thanks for these videos. Rank beginner here. But today, I found a linch pin, a couple of good bolts, the brass nozzle off a backpack fire pump, a broken piece of sickle bar guard, and last but not least, my long lost pocketknife! The machine is very impressive (to me, anyway), and my confidence is increasing with each find.

First thank you! For no crazy intro music. You speak so clearly. I just received my simplex. Watching utubes to learn prior to going to beach. I only or mostly search the beach, here in USA east coast, 100 % fine sand with tons of copper fragments from munitions. Learning a lot! I do know here to only go at low tide after a storm. The fine sand covers everything 3ft plus in 24 hr. In summer you can go daily to find fresh drops but to many people. You would have been a great teacher, or are.

For those of you that do not have a pinpointer might I make a suggestion. That if a cheap one is all you can afford it is better than not having one at all. They can save you a lot of time recovering those targets. Good advice Lori on the proper procedure of digging a Target in the grass, and covering up the holes.

michel faber I am so glad to hear that the videos are helping. I filmed two new ones today, one on which version of the software to use (live tomorrow at 8 pm uk time) and a practical video on how to reduce chatter and pick the correct mode and sensitivity for your circumstances (live in 2 days). Hope they are helpful, if you have a specific question for me to film and answer to, just shout and I will do my best. In the meantime keep digging those signals, one day it will just click, and you suddenly find you know not to dig certain sounds. Your bag will come home so much lighter!

Excellent, well presented video Lori. Great to watch and listen to. Much better, for me, than some of the over-hyped, 'eye-balls out', non-informative up-loads that're out there. Nice and steady does it every time. Also. real good that you let your viewers hear the tones properly, and that you explain their respective nuances. Top woman. Bang on! Subbed. Keep up your work, because people that own the Simplex can only profit from it. Stay safe.

    • @thesimplexguru1263
      @thesimplexguru1263  Před 4 lety +3

Thank you Tim, I really appreciate the feedback. I remember well the sinking feeling of digging up yet another bit of plough part, or nail, or horseshoe, or aluminium can. I looked in vain for videos that had the numbers showing and the tones audible, so I could hear and see what others were experiencing. Some did show the numbers (Southern Searcher, South Coast detecting) but not always, not with tones, and they were only on beaches.
Rob Rizzo (The History DIgger) has been very helpful for numbers charts, but he is in WIsconsin and his coins/finds are very different to the UK. I wanted someone like Aquachigger doing videos saying "Listen for this" "Thats iron", "This is what I use on this field type "this is how i tell this" etc. but it wasn't out there for the SImplex (that I found). Lots of finds videos, that show what she can detect, but no videos showing the process of how to find these things. Possibly because those videos take time, and are labour intensive to make. That's why I made this- though i am def no Aquachigger!

Makes me feel bad that I'm ignoring people, even if I don't mean to! Let me know how beach goes, coke is a tricky one. Nox 800 discriminates it out totally but simplex doesn't, in my experience. :(

@@johnjohn633 What pinpointer do you have? And do you have the wireless headphones? Unless you have a Pulsedive AND the Simplex wireless headphones, I would advise going to 2.77, to get the mute button function. If you stay on 2.68, the interference will be really bad and do your head in. The 2.77 won't make your machine more unstable, just more sensitive. Dial your sensitivity back, to 5 or 6 bars depending on how many signals are in your ground. It's def best to do the update, because the features it brings are worth it, and the extra sensitivity can be reduced until you need it. :D Happy Hunting!

Really enjoying your vids! You go slow and explain things AND you tell it like it is. The simplex is NOT so simple and like any machine will take time. One question I have at this point is.....The machine can go pretty deep I believe ..BUT the numbers cut out on deep objects usually 6-7 inches or so (which is not so deep.) It seems almost worthless on the deeper objects cause they could be anything. People say listen to the sounds and I agree, but the there are only 2 tones in Field and 3 in Park..so that is not really enough to go on. I'm using field or park with a 5 -6 sensitivity depending. Can you address this "concern" a little. I feel bad passing on the deeper objects. Even in an air test on a medium deep object I'm getting only sound like a mosquito...and that could be anything. Any thoughts will help! Thanks!

Its hard to explain but I have tried all the modes and different levels of sensitivity. Im not sure if the targets are all small and alot of them, but when i swing, the audio will cut out over a target. Sometimes I will still get a VDI number with no sound. Not sure if you have any tips or if I have a defective machine. Also when i pinpoint sometimes, it will cut out as well until i release and repress the button.

HI WIlliam, I would go with 2.77, not the 2.78. My reasons are:
1.You need the 2.77 for the added depth (even if you aren't using it now)
      2. You need 2.77 for the mute button feature (vital even if you have the headphones and the pulsedive, because the day will come that your headphones get left at home by accident- or they run out of charge. You will be so glad of the mute function!)
      3. You need 2.77 for the new coils that are coming. You might not want to buy one right now, but when the detecting bug bites, and it will, you will eventually want the added flexibility that alternate coils bring.
      4. I wouldn't choose 2.78 BECAUSE- you lose information that cannot be accessed without hooking up to a pc again. This is info you could have at the touch of a button as your landscape or skills level changes, if you are on 2.77 and tune the machine. If you are on 2.78, you can't get to it.
You can always roll back to 2.77 BUT- if you set up your machine like I have shown in the video, you don't lose anything and it is always available, just quietly waiting for you to ask for it.
I will do a video regarding this, because I am sure you are not the only one asking this question- thank you for the idea! :D

Hi Ronnie, the A.S.S. mode was another youtuber's name for ASSorted modes. It isn't a setting itself, it is about using ALL the modes to get the best idea about a signal before you dig it. Checking a target using all the different settings, to get the most information you can about an iffy signal, can help you decide if it is worth it. That's using "A.S.S." orted modes.
I'm sorry I didn't explain it on the video, I should remember that people may not have seen previous ones and might not know the terms. Thanks for your question and for watching 😃
