Fire emblem kid is still there….bless
Although I kind of wish they updated him to talk about the Switch and one of the newer fire emblem games. Not a big gripe though, just would have been cool.
@@rootbeer543 True but I love that TTYD is so drenched in GameCube and GBA references throughout the game, like the GBAs that act as terminals in Glitzville.
@@ApolloDawn85or the game boy advance SP that acts like Mario’s email system
@@rontheauraknight9606they removed the SP and the ringtones
@@Acanofalconpunch that one kinda makes sense but sad. Probably might exist sound wise if you use GameCube sound
Oh, the music. THE MUSIC!!!
So happy that they kept the iconic synths in the Petal Meadows theme
I can’t wait until I hear the whole OST!!!
I Wanna Have OST Extended
Madame Flurrie OST Is Good
@@LuisAlbertoZesatiJRChannel The saxophone just SELLS it
1:32 I like how you can hear individual Shy Guys, Goombas and Toads in the audience! I wonder how X-Nauts will sound in the audience, and their text SFX... 🤔
I'm more concerned about being in front of a crowd of X-Nauts...and, then, they *all* hold up boulders. 😮
0:21 this new mario expression is hilarious
It reminds me of a Peanuts character looking up xD
It kinda looks like a sprite from Paper Mario 64, though that’s probably where they got the inspiration from
It's just like in Super Mario World, it's so cute to see his big nose like that
@@TheFrantastic you’re right, I completely forgot about that!
He'd better do the shrug at one point, I swear
Man im diggin this music! Nintendo wasn't playin! They orchestra'd the f**k outta the soundtrack!
7:54 BATTLE MUSIC VARIANTS???
i wonder if its because the enemy hit first or because of the erea
@@aaronabcdefinitely area, another video had a Boggly Woods variant. plus making the theme entirely different because you took 1 damage at the start would be silly lol
@@polyhex omg youre right in seeing it now. So much hype
im so glad they are incorporating elements from newer games, instead of just being a 1:1 remake
its so fucking surreal hearing the ttyd melodies be given the origami king treatment, it makes them feel like part of a brand new paper mario game in the best possible way
The entire soundtrack was orchestrated...
/pos? Or /neg?
@@thespeedyyoshiAbsolutely positive. It sounds like a beautiful love letter, plus the fact you can opt between it and the original soundtrack is *chef’s kiss*
THEY orchestrated it! Nintendo! What a sick joke!
@@cloudymccloudnot our precious Nintendo no! Always slipping Nintendo
@@JorgeGomez-hx5uu Stealing us blind! And they get to be game developers? We should've stopped them when we had the chance
Totally finishing this game on Switch! Looks beautiful and idc about the framerate drop! Y’all act like 30FPS will be the death of humanity!
I know. I don't see why it bothers people so much. I can't even tell the difference in frame rate, but can easily tell the difference in visual improvement.
I’m not really sure why 30fps for this particular type of game is a complete deal breaker for many. If the original was at 30 instead of 60, I doubt anyone would say anything. It’s not like this is a first person shooter, a platformer or a next gen exclusive. The remake is going to be awesome!
@@gamerrrdude4405 people need something to complain about tbh!
I prefer 60 to 30 where I can get it but I’m happy so long as the framerate is stable.
Most people thought 30 fps might mess up the action command for timing
They updated Madame Flurries theme with a new verse. That song shows up once
Thank goodness they added a jukebox for u to listen to it as many times as u like, because they went hard on it, it's amazing
The entire new soundtrack sounds so fire
5:56 aw, they made them sound like the mario 64 bob-omb talk sound
Love that!!
One small detail I noticed is that Hooktail is referred to as female by the Koopa in Petalburg, but in the original translation everyone assumed she was a guy and it was treated as a sort of humorous reveal when Gloomtail refers to her as his adorable little sister.
Might have been an translation error in the original since her tattle log if I remember does call her an her
@@rontheauraknight9606 I double checked, and can confirm that if Tattled Goombella does indeed refer to Hooktail as an "it", not a "she".
The Paper Mario wiki claims she says "she" for some reason, but I think that's just sloppy work on their part.
....Wondering if they're going to change anything about Vivian...
@@dobadobadooo probably yeah
@@dobadobadoooGloomtail refers to Hooktail as his younger sister though.
Interestingly, it seems they actually reused the old Mario voice clips from the original rather than recording new ones, meaning we're back to Charles Martinet for this game. Look really good overall, can't believe it's less than a month away!
They made 2 variations of the battle theme based on who struck first! 😎👍
I think they also have different music for each chapter as well!
@gltchyyboy7787 I believe so as well. If they were to take the Paper Mario TOK approach and arrange the battle theme differently for each area (plus the intro depending on who struck first), that would be fantastic.
@@gltchyyboy7787 actually its more specific to the area you are in. Keep in mind hooktail castle is still part of chapter 1 yet has a different battle them than petal meadow.
@@michaelr3077 ooh nice! 👍
Appreciate the sudden "stops" to read to get a second or two more or music out of the clip. The player is an og thousand year door fan and it shows.
7:57 chapter specific battle themes? this is amazing
I'd say they're more location-specific. Still a very nice detail though!
LET'S GOO
@@johnnyhickman3083even better
It seems like a variation that plays when you get struck by the enemy first. Dont get your hopes up. I know this looks amazing, but this is Nintendo we're talking about.
@@ConservativeCalifornian1032 they did chapter based battle themes for origami king so 🤞
DUDE, THAT HOOKTAIL CASTLE BATTLE THEME SOUNDS NUTS WHAT
punio just twitching his foot 10:10
also i noticed how his antenna orb is red now
like it shows he was knocked out
THE MUSIC IS INSANE. Absolutely love everything about this remake.
“Great if you lack confidence”
DAMN, guess I’m only going to take HP upgrades then
I always do FP first
BP all the way
I recommend BP because you get more badge points and trust me there is a lot of badges in this game and you're gonna need a lot of BP for them. Its very helpful.
Then get more confidence. Posturing how neurotic you are is infinitely annoying.
@@Novarcharesk Assuming people are posturing when they’re just being themselves should’ve made you an expert on being infinitely annoying. I’m sure if you said something like this it would be posturing, but you’re projecting that onto people who lack your ego. Ironically displaying less confidence than OP, and anyone with the wisdom and emotional security to leave well enough alone
10:07 princess peach won’t be happy, someone takes her Mario.
Peach: ahem, what’s going on here.
My question is...why? They easily could've made just as much money by simply remastering the original with a few tweaks. What the hell possessed them to remake all the music and visuals to this degree? The music especially is just insane, like they did not have to do it but it all sounds incredible
Thought you were complaining at first lol
We call that LOVE
@@narwhalz02 yeah don't get me wrong this is amazing lol
This is probably a test. This is why Super Mario RPG was given the same treatment. It could have been on the SNES without any changes, but they remastered it. It's a test to see if there even IS a market for this genre, if there are those who want Paper Mario or Mario RPG type games. Both will definitely sell well, so I hope we get more of this in the future..especially Mario & Luigi.
@FredDoesStuff0423 SMRPG Remake sold 3.14 million copies in 3 months, so I think Nintendo is gonna get the message.
I’m glad we’re getting a remake for switch 🎮
Btw they really remade the Battle system with that banger just for Hooktail Castle? My god.
It seems every chapter will have its own remix kinda like origami king
In Paper Mario TOK, the vellumental battle theme was repeated for every streamer. I wonder if this isn't the only occurrence of the castle battle theme.
6:05 nice all NPC have unique sound effects, that reflect it own species, Koopas NPC sound like Koooas,
3:53 it seens if you press ZL while exploring, Goombela will use her area tattle hability
It's so interesting how a small detail can change the way you percieve an entire character. Now all the characters have their own unique text sound. I never thought Goombella would have such a high pitched "voice", I always imagined it being a little deeper. Maybe it just carried over from that ancient Goombella LOTR parody video lol. Flurry's text sound is perfect, and her new theme song is absolutely fabulous
3:52 IT’S THE ARLO SONG WHOAAAAAA IT SOUNDS SO DIFFERENT

I remember owning the original on the gamecube. Soo many hours playing it when i was a child. It could have been just a port, or an HD version, but no, this is a REMAKE. I didnt know i needed this soo hard in my life.
Thanks for the gameplay footage, Nintendo Life! This is a really good look at the game.
8:59 I really like the fact the game now saves instantly after hitting the save block, like in Origami King! Much better than having to confirm if you'd like to save like in the original game.
2:25 The map showing you were the next star is...kid me loved this in the original so seeing it here brings me back!
Also, you can see the sewers now!
This game is simply gorgeous. I can't believe what I'm seeing.
This game is more gorgeous than my newborn son
TOK having personalized battle themes for each area was one my my fav touches, PLEASANTLY surprised to see they brought it over to TTYD too. i wanna hear more but i also wanna stay surprised when the game comes out, cant wait for next month hngg
In addition, I propose the possibility of three different introductions for each battle theme, indicating who struck first (similar to the approach seen in Paper Mario TOK).
@@tictactoecraft i think they did actually, at least for when foes strike first. 7:52 sounds like a fail jingle before the theme starts. but i loved those additions too!
imagine paper mario 64 getting a remake like this, and I mean visually like the graphics and controls in particular. That would be beyond amazing!!!!!
Oh man the visuals are on point. I don't even care about 4k or photorealism as long as the game is as charming as this.
This remake is everything to me
1:57 - 3:01
Wow! An even more beautiful spectacle than the last! They went all out with the graphics, sound, and music improvements!
The best of both worlds.
The perks of the original Paper Mario TTYD + orchestrated soundtrack, paper-like visuals and expressive animations.
Nice to see the Fire Emblem toad still playing on his GBA.
Oh yes, the battle music changes depending on the zone!
The level up song remake is insane.
1:48
This almost sounded like a music from Kirby Planet Robobot!
Please Let Me Have Madame Flurrie OST
dude
the new music is actually so fire, fucking adore how they extended some of the tracks, petalburg and rogueport sound actually perfect
I was kinda hoping the Fire Emblem kid would have something new to say related to Fire Emblem Engage or something.
that first struck battle theme when an enemy hits you first, that is some good music. I like how dower it sounds
It's like one of those "x but in minor key" music tracks
So the battle themes will not only change depending on the chapter but also the area!
*THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!*
I love the new character sounds and expressions. It feels so much more reactive and lively!
This is gonna be wishful thinking for the best case scenario, but...
If we get multiple battle themes per chapter and this isn't just a one time thing (seperating grasslands and castle in terms of music I mean), then I could see these being the individual battle themes:
Chapter 1: Grasslands & Castle
Chapter 2: Forest & Tree interior
Chapter 3: Minor & Major League
Chapter 4: Forest & Mansion interior
Chapter 5: Island & Cave interior
Chapter 6: There are barely any locations to battle in, so probably just 1.
Chapter 7: Snow Area, Moon & X Naut Fortress
Chapter 8: Only one obviously.
Unique battle music for the different areas?! OMG, I’m SO over the moon about this.
I still would like to know if the music change option will be there. FFX hd did it I'm sure Nintendo can do it too
This looks like a talented fan animation in all the best ways.
8:06 ah I think a Goomba has a pointy hat.
Also if you can listen closely, a disappointed Toad grumbled out a "No!" before fleeing.
The first chapter theme of the battle fanfare seem to be the closet to the orginal theme, I'd like hear that mashed up with the og.
I can't wait to hear Rawk Hawk's battle theme and the X Naut Fortress theme. those are definitely gonna be bops for sure.
I wonder if they made it where you can't level up or if you level up more.
I maxed out Mario and it soft lock
Just noticed the water in Petalburg, just rotating cardboard circles, heh. lol
I notice that Happy Lucky Lottery was changed mechanically, at least to an extent. I wonder if you still have to wait a year for the jackpot.
I can't wait to play this masterpiece
Who can?
Hope there's an og music option like in the mario rpg remake. It sounds great but I love the old synths.
There will be. There is a new badge you can get that plays the og music when equipped
While I'll admit I'm really used to the original soundtrack, I do kind of feel like the new one here changes up a lot more than it has to in certain places. Rogueport's theme especially really does have a bit of a different vibe than the original track. It sounds like a Smash Bros arrangement of the song or something.
The battle theme is going to have another version? I wonder what that'll be like?
2:01-2:27 silly mario, lol.
Does the game support GCN controllers?
Cant say the frame rate being cut to 30fps doesnt suck, but i know mods will fix that right up so im not too disappointed
It is a bummer indeed, but who knows, maybe it'll run at 60 on 'Switch 2'
and no way it is stopping me from buying this
@@MusicJunkie37 same tbh, I'm definitely voting with my wallet on this one
Love it love it love it! Plus the battle music sounds epic in this version. 100/10
Request: Paper Sonic - Announcement Trailer
I want to know if there is anything new that is only exclusive to the new version that was not in the old version.
3:38 Someone was busy checking on their phone..
My PTSD triggered with the Happy Lucky Lottery... Mustn't... Change.... Clock... Backwards!!
Not a major complaint, but the sweet treat throw animation looks kinda rough. I dunno, seems a little unfinished, but I won't let that ruin the game for me
This looks incredible. Such a good game and the music is out of this world.
I dunno if anyone asked this but... Why does the confirmation sound, sound like you're actually canceling or going back on a choice?
I'm literally tearing up watching this. it's beautiful.
they literally made battle theme but in minor key holy crap based
This is amazing... Happy to be with everyone celebrating this remake
My favorite game coming out again when I'm 34 and I'm just as excited!
It’s so perfect. I can’t wait. It’s going to be a joy to replay this in HD.
did they add in charles marinet's voice or is it kevin afghani
It sounds like Charles’ voice lines were taken from the og game
Not only does it seem incredibly faithful, but everything new actually seems like an improvement over the original. No downgrades in sight. Not sure what the catch is, this isn't Nintendo's M.O.
I didnt really know where to go
8:01
MARIO NO
I need this game so badly.
Wonder if the battle theme on the bridge is a "enemy struck first" version, or if there really IS area battle themes like TOK
There are, there’s gameplay of the glitz pit with a more metal version of the theme
Call me greedy, but I really truly hope its both. That would mean two or three battle themes per area, but it would make me really happy.
Though the fact that we have even one additional varient already blows my mind.
@@TripleJump I'm 99% certain it's similar to the approach seen in TOK. Meaning one battle theme per area with each getting 3 unique introductions based on who struck first or if Mario simply ran into the enemy.
@tictactoecraft9273
Yeah, CGM's coverage proves that the Hooktail Castle battle theme is the same regardless of First Strike.
BUT it appears that the victory fanfare also varies based on area. It uses the same instruments as whatever the battle theme has so it flows really smoothly. It's really really nice. I love the changes they're making to the music.
That is indeed reassuring. If I remember correctly, the victory fanfare in TOK also changes depending on the battle theme. I genuinely appreciate the direction they are taking with the music.
New sound design as well, yeah?
Does this have an option to switch back to the original music like super mario rpg did?
There is a new badge that uses 0BP and costs 1 coin that changes the music to the original
I honestly think the best part about this remake is the music is in The Origami King instrumentation. That was the only saving grace of TOK was its god-tier music.
Did you guys realize the motif 2:55
OH MY GOD I NEEDS IT NOW.
10:08 noep shes not kissing his shoe anymore... shes going right for his lips 😂😅😮
So nostalgic
Is it just me or does this feel like it's slowed down? When I turn it to 1.25x speed it looks like normal speed.
That’s because speeding up the video increases its frame rate of it. The og was 60fps and the remake is 30fps
Loooks so good!!!!
I have to admit it…at first I was one of those who was complaining about it only being 30 fps but after seeing this I no longer care. It looks beautiful and plays amazing! I WILL be getting this gem of a masterpiece! CAN’T WAIT!!!
6:00 - Wrong choice!
Can modders get this to run at 60fps on the pc version?
Emulation is not a PC version of the game. In terms of the 60fps, I dunno can you?
no such thing as a pc version, emulation isn't a "PC version"
look amazing remake
Sweet dipidy dayum-they turned Flurrie's theme into baby-making tunes with that new saxophone. My lawd, Nintendo.
All I know is the x nauts base theme is gonna bang!
Wow this is cool thanks you for gameplay :)
Did anybody else think this remake had already been out for months now? Or is it just me finally losing my marbles? 😆
You might’ve gotten confused with the Super Mario RPG remake. They were announced pretty close to each other and SMRPG has been out for a few months.
@@kenji6492 Nah I don't think that's it. I was fully aware of the RPG remake coming out and knew the Paper Mario remake was coming later. I think the reason why I thought this remake was already out, is that I've seen a lot of people use this paper Mario in their youtube thumbnails that discuss/cover anything Nintendo related for awhile now. Which I think tricked my brain into thinking the game was already out.
