Gifted. Real music. 65 year old black woman and still listening in 2023.
45 year old Hawaiian Man. This makes me cry for my father till this day.
xx
HOW is Paul Carrack still singing this well? Such pure tone with so little crackle or gravel at such an advanced age is incredible, his range is still superb, and in my opinion his chops are as good, his technical choices more interesting, and his musicality richer than at any point in his career. Absolutely inspiring.
You are loved Paul. This song came in 1988. I graduated high school in 1986 and in July 1987 my Dad and Brother were killed in a car wreck. So when my mom passed in July 2019 I came back to this song for solice. Best vocals on this planet. I'd give money to talk to you. I love everything you touch, it's golden.
May your loved ones be forever in peace, you will be with them again, this song is so beautiful ♥️
❤. Thank you for sharing this
💯

Sorry for all of the immense loss you’ve endured. Music is good medicine, helps us cope, helps us remember, helps us cry and find some joy too, thankfully. And Paul Carrack’s music and voice is more medicinal than most.
Jesus, man. I just lose it when I hear this man sing. Especially this song...losing your father, like I did in '22 - it just isn't easy. Thank God for this song, and this singer.
Loosing your Father at any age my friend is heartbreaking, took me years to square up to it . This song says it all for me , I’m with you buddy heart and soul 🫡
My brother and my dad a strained relationship for many years. When mom and dad needed help he stepped up big to help them. Spending time with dad as he began to fade physically and mentally helped tear down the wall that both of them had built. He was a good son to our parents. My brother told me he heard this song right after dad passed away and broke down crying.
Seen this Dude a dozen times, absolute legend, what a singer & musician, this is the best version he's ever done in my opinion. My Father was very good to me then we fell out because he didn't think my then girlfriend was good enough. We never spoke for 25 years, however when he had a sudden heart attack I went to see him. He told me he deeply regretted his judgement & I left to come home. He died 1 hour later & I wish I had the chance to say a few things to his face. Now been married to the same girl for 43 years. RIP Dad.
"We sacrifice the future
It's the bitterness that lasts"
This song will newer get old...and his voice is Diamond
Paul Carrack is truly one of those voices that has aged much like a fine wine. He has covered decades with thoughtful music that brings a rich bounty of emotion to so many of us.
sometimes as kids and even adults we come to regret not talking to those we love, we take for granted life. I'd give anything to just say one more time to my dad and mom I love you. I'm 78 now but still think of them daily
This song will always make me think of someone who was like a 2nd father to me when I was a young person
What a great song. Still so good, after all these years. Cheers! ✌️🙏♥️
Paul Carrack is indeed a blessed artist - he is a great musician, he is humble, he is genial and his voice is still the same of when he started singing.
A musical gift and blessing and blessed indeed♥️🙏
Naw he's no
Wonderful. This song gets me every time. I was brought up by my grandad and I went against everything he said. I got jailed in 1994 for a gang fight in Glasgow. The last time my grandad saw me was when I got dragged out the house by the police. He died the day before my trial. I’ve moved on from the world of craziness (now a church pastor). I now sit with my 5 year old daughter and listen to this. She falls asleep while I sit with tears in my eyes, regretting that I never got to tell my grandad how grateful I was for him. Wish I told him this in the living years.
"We all sacrifice the future.......it's the bitterness that lasts "
These words. So special. I was 15 minutes late in getting home to say bye to my dad 10/12/1996 💔
What an awesome version of this song. Paul Carrack can deliver this with such feeling & emotion. Gives one pause as we go thru life and have disputes with friends & family.
Awesome. If you haven’t seen him in concert put it on your bucket list.
What a voice 👌❤️ x
A very humble and talented individual who’s played with the best and is still as great live now as he has ever been thanks 🙏 Paul x
You are so right. A lovely man. My musical hero & I truly would not be without him. 💙🙏
He reminds me of Phil Collins, both musicians incredible, talented.
@@secretsquirrel8685You know him then he's your pal
@@thulsadoom544 Hi, can I ask what you mean by your reply?
@@thulsadoom544 Yes indeed I do know him.
That song has ALWAYS touched me. My Dad has now been gone 17 years, and tears well in my eyes. Every.
Single
Time.
Agree with this epithet. Absolutely right.
Me too Alan, but it is 46 years since I lost my Dad, I was 18.😥
31 years, and Dad's never far from me. Maybe it's because I'm that much older, but the lyrics seem to become more and more true with the passing years. Enough from me for now.
Mines been gone 18 past and we parted on good terms, this song is a lesson to all. Life's too short. It's too late when we die.
Oh yes, may our dear dads rest in peace♥️🙏 I just had a good cry too♥️
I love his voice and lyrics. Paul is one of the greatest Soulsingers of our times!! Thank you Paul !! This performance hit me directly into my heart. Love and Peace to you out there !!!
Most beautiful, true heartfelt song. Thank you, Paul❤
hello, how are you doing it is nice meeting you here.
I never heard a song that makes me remember and miss my Dad as much as this one. I have a hard time looking at pics of my Dad as it brings back too many memories that I know I can't get back. Value every moment you have.
It's very hard Andrew 😢❤❤
The song really reminds me of myself and my father. Didn't have a great relationship until later in life.... My early fourties things started to really get better.... Then I lost him.... I cry about every time I hear this song
Legend voice...Legend musician
Massively underrated
Hugely loved ❤
You still got the chops, Paul. Bravo! 🙌
This song is written from the perspective of a son who has a conflicted relationship with his father. After his father dies, he discovers that he and his dad had a much stronger bond than he ever realized, and the son regrets not saying more while his dad was alive.
It was written by group founder Mike Rutherford and the Scottish songwriter B.A. Robertson; the pair also co-wrote the first Mike + The Mechanics hit, "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)." Both Robertson and Rutherford had recently lost their fathers when they wrote this song, making it a very personal endeavor for both of them.
Thank you for sharing that insight🙏♥️
Thank you very much! ❤❤❤
Not just sons. It’s realising the bond we had with our dads. Things we all wish we could have said. Just one last time ❤
I have loved Paul Carrack, and his voice since early 70’s and Ace. I listen to him on my quiet days and sing with him at the top of my voice. Love this performance so very much. Raw and classic at the same time. Oh I hope God blesses us with many more years; you’re always going to be in my heart (and on video) . I’ll keep singing with you, Paul.
hello, how are you doing it is nice meeting you here.
Wow! This gave me goose bumps. One of my first jobs, listening to the radio 1988...I'm now 52, Thank you!
15 year anniversary of my dad's passing tomorrow. My wife is 3 months along with our first son together. This song makes the waterworks flow
Sei un grande Paul Carrack 😍🍀🙏🏼🎧

Great voice fantastic band Mike and mechanics
Listening to the greatest musical masterpiece ever created in my 44 years of life. I want this song played at my funeral, with a message attached ... "Very few people actually loves thy neighbor anymore." 😭😭🥰❤❤❤❤
One of the best voices I've ever heard. He has soul!
Thanks Paul bringing memories of when my dad passed at a young age 49 years we fell out earlier in the day but I went to a phone box to apologise he said he wasn’t feeling well and died later that evening I drank a bottle of whiskey playing this song continuously just glad we made up I was 27 years old my dad was gone ❤always been a special song to me .
Quel talent Paul Carrack ! C'est toujours un grand plaisir de l'écouter.
I paid for the Dice pay-per-view of this full concert during the lockdowns. Awesome, awesome, awesome concert, Paul and the band! 👍🏻😎 Wished I could see you perform here in the States.
We need this song today more than ever.
I think this version needs rereleased in America. I'm from Oklahoma. It's meaning is more relevant today than ever before all the ones we've lost to covid.
sounds amazing.
My dad passed away in 2016. My son was born March 9, 2019. I finally was able to carry on his last name and named him after our first descendant. I miss you every day dad and William
and I love you and mom with all our heart.

Crystal clear every word. Lovely arrangement. Thank you Paul 💙💙💙🙏 🥰
I absolutely love this man, song, generation.
Thank you. You have put words to music that I cannot. My first daughter was born when this was in the charts and exactly one month later my father died. Thank you!
It’s a beautiful song! I still cry
Oh man, I am so sorry for your loss, and yet happy your child was in your life at the time, God bless you all ♥️🙏
@Greta, The Other One .That was a long time ago and she has turned into a fantastic strong individual.
I love this song so much. Such truth. I sent this song to my kids when they were old enough to understand. No way that I could have said this better. Luckily, they understand my love for music and the truth that in conveys. God bless you Paul. Thanks man. Much love to you, you graced my life with your talent…
His voice is gold
Yes it truly is
How about sweet honey!
Totally inert
An extraordinary singer singing an extraordinary and sacred song! Absolutely perfection!❤️👍
Such true words.
My father pasted away 1976.
Still think there's a lot I didn't say to him before he pasted
You will get the chance to be with your dad and loved ones, when that Appointed time comes♥️🙏
One of the greatest songs ever written and performed by its author.!
You’re mistaken, song was written by BA Robinson. Great cover though 👍

One of my All Time Favorite..
Wonderful ❤️
Just absolutely beautiful! Singing along w this song for 2+ decades. “The Voice”! Thank you, sir.
The first time I heard this song, it moved me to tears. It still does. I relate... so many conversations I had with my dad and so many things that were left unspoken. I was on the road when I got the message that my dad had passed. I sat on the side of the highway crying and wishing I had been by his side when he left us.
Hermosa versión! Felicitaciones desde Argentina! La música nos ayuda en un momento de tanta violencia en el mundo....Gracias!
Du hast vollkommen Recht. Die Welt ist total verrückt. Diese Musik ist einfach nur schön
Easily surpasses whatever is beyond perfectly beautiful...
Splendido Paul
Wow!!!! What a talent!!
Incredible voice, incredible song
I love your voice and have for many years!!❤
Wasn't there that morning when I told the docs his wishes he'd told me a week before we're to "pull the plug." Weep to your song, Paul. Bless you.
wow!!! magnificent live performance
This was one of my father's favourites. RIP the CJP. ❤❤
Paul Carrack, you are amazing, stunningly talented, and we are such big fans! Thank you heaps for sharing this. We loved it. We have your 💿s and playlists on CZcams and Pandora with you as the anchor artist. Thanks for sharing your ahhhhhmazing talent!!! All the best to you and yours!!!
Just epic!
The most worthy version I have heard. Paul Carrack of course, and with a more stripped-down accompaniment makes a huge difference.
Oh my God 👏👏👏👍👍👍👍 This is absolute perfection of lyrics coupled with music 🎶. Bravo Sir
you're amazing Paul..💙
Paul is an amazing solo artist that has the ability to heighten moods and attitudes. His music can lift your spirits in the toughest of times. He can elevate others that are already incredible musicians. Squeeze was awesome, fun, silly and had great lyrics. I thought they were perfect and unique with their style. They couldn't sound any better. And then came Paul. His style blending with theirs absolutely enhanced the music. You can see it in the faces of the band members. They seemed to be having a blast from start to finish whereas before they seemed to be working.
Paul sounds great, this song is truly part of the fabric of our world 💗
One of the best voices of today or any day!
Well, I was expecting To cry so much… course this song always gets me
LEGEND ❤️❤️
Brilliant song by Mike Rutherford! Beautiful rendition!
❤
Thanks for that SONG Paul, especially that version. ❤ words, harmonies - a god blessed expression
(It is one of my top five! to show to those extraterrestrials 👽 guy’s I may meet one day 🙈 to explain what humans call MUSIC and culture 😉)
Real voice really singing live - great stuff
The lyrics had been running thru my mind this morning after the death of a family member, not a father. The message of not waiting to mend fences before we die is in the lyrics so loudly and clearly that we cannot and should not ignore their truth. 👍
Wow! We saw Mike & the Mechanics tour this album in the late 80's. Paul still has it goin on! The song's profound and beautiful lyrics mean even more today than back then! Thank You.
The Man with The Golden Voice
Live forever Paul......so your music will!
Beautiful job on this version!
I never knew my father or my mother, I spent my whole childhood in care mostly in children's homes...but you touched my heart Paul
The guy is magic and a big part of my music being.
Love it More now than ever before.
