Have an 1998 roadster also w Dinan stuff (throttlebody and air take etc), call Dinan and they will tell you exactly whats in your car.

Something may be wrong w the cooling. My E36 S52 warms up within 5 minutes at 30f. As for the shifter slop its the shift pins that need to be replaced. That will fix that third gear misalignment.
That's right. With a working thermostat my Z3M S52 gets warm much faster. My old thermostat was also stuck open and it was the same as in the video. Even his oil temp comes up before his water temp.

Power difference is negligible between the S52 VS S54 driving wise. S52 is a more reliable virtually bullet proof and has more a raw feeling. I’ve had both at one point, kept the S52.
You did good. Heck I even love my 2000 2.8 which is much more tame but it’ll move and hold the line in corners.

I'd personally get the S52 car, already have a Z4M roadster. From what I read back in the day, the S52 was only a few hundredths slower than the S54, so no big deal.
It was only slower for those who couldn't launch an S54.
The S52 was a High 13s car while the S54 was doing Low to even Mid 12s bone stock.
The Record S54 by Silverstreak did a 12.56 1/4 Mile time which is SLK55 AMG Territory.
Paid £1,000 for my 2.0 Z3. It'll seem like a bargain once I get it running properly... 😂
