- Tis the season for family gatherings, and many of us will be forced to abandon our Feld, Wallace, and Knizia games to play some good ole Wal-Mart games with family and friends. But hey, at least we still get to play games, right? This episode features a list of lighthearted party-style games we keep in our collection for larger groups, family gatherings, and special occasions (so we don't get stuck playing Apples to Apples, amirite???). I'll get back to my regularly scheduled euro games next episode!

RULES CLARIFICATIONS: I mentioned Funglish is a team game. The official rules don't call for this; instead, they suggest a very wonky way to play. Believe me... just form teams, assign a reader each round, and try to get your teammates to say as many words as possible before the timer runs out. Give a point for each correct word. Keep it simple!

Our youngest prefers party games, and lighter games in general. So I'm always on the hunt for games that appeal to him. He likes MonsDRAWsity probably the most.
Detective Club is pretty great, we even tracked down the elusive expansion!

So many great games here and lots I didn’t know! I’ve only just recently tarted exploring party games. I brought Wits and Wagers to my in-laws for holidays but we’ve all got covid and haven’t played yet. Doh! I’ll report back when we have. In the meanwhile, I’m very excited to add some of these to my list of games to check out!
Ranking is one of my favorite hidden gem party games. We have had soooo much fun with it over the years. And Wits and Wagers is a well-deserved classic!! It’s easily my favorite trivia game. I hope you all get well soon! Sickness is no fun especially around the holidays 😢

I love your board game suggestions!! Party games are my fav especially when there is some strategy involved since most of my friends aren’t heavy board gamers. I really like Ranking but I can’t find the game on sale locally… probably also hard to search the term as it’s so generic. I also wonder if I can use Dixit cards with Detective Club. I found out Dixit isn’t for my gaming group but this way of playing might make use of my cards
Dixit cards would work for Detective Club, and that's a great idea actually! Yeah, it's a very simple game; you would just need some matching notepads and something for each player to vote with. You can just keep score on paper. I don't want to speak too negatively of Dixit, but I like Detective Club much better personally. Detective Club is why I don't Dixit haha. As far as Ranking, if you search "ranking board game" on ebay, you should see a few results. You could also try adding Rio Grande to your search. It's such a fun game if you can find a copy! its hard to find these games :(
I think it depends on where you are located in the world. Some of them are very hard to find in certain areas of the world, but most of these are readily available on eBay or the Geek Market here in the USA. My channel is all about the lesser-known games, and sadly some of those are very hard to find nowadays. However, my hope is that some of the games I feature here will be reprinted if my videos generate enough buzz. Thanks for watching!
