    ABOUT: Welcome to my CZcams channel dedicated to lesser-known & forgotten board games. This is still a very small channel trying to build an audience who appreciates these hidden gems and older games. If you want to go on this journey to discover the undiscovered, please subscribe to the channel, share our content, and consider a small donation to help us grow.
    EPISODE 31: Tea for Two to Four features a detailed review & tutorial of this hidden gem from 2018. This beauty feels like an old-school euro game with lots of player interaction, simple rules, complex decisions, and a beautiful classic art style. While it doesn't do anything specifically unique or revolutionary, I absolutely love the mix of mechanisms here, especially the multi-use cards for action selection!
    RULES CLARIFICATIONS: None at this time. Comment below with any more questions!
    Note: Even though I covered most of the rules, I still recommend reading the rulebook for the little stuff.

      That's awesome! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Remember, 3p is my favorite player count, so reserve your judgement until you try it with 3! :) Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Absolutely! The design has an elegance we don't see as much in newer releases. As you said, straightforward and thoughtful! Thanks for watching :)

    I’m so psyched you covered this bc it gave me some extra verve to retry getting it to the table. I learned the rules for it a long time ago and watching this video reminded me of why- aside from the artwork- I wanted to play this in the first place. I love the simultaneous actions on each player’s turn. It’s such a cool mechanism for keeping everyone engaged and also makes for interesting decisions. Anyway, very happy you gave Ceylon a bit of love!

      That’s awesome, thanks for watching! I hope you get it to the table soon. I think you will really really really like this one. It’s one of those games I’m always in the mood to play. We’ve played this a lot this year, and I’ve had such good luck showing this to new players. I even gifted a copy to my sister and her family for Christmas. They haven’t played any euros, but we taught them this game and they all jumped right into it! It was cool to see them experience a euro for the first time 😃 This is such a good one for that… a gateway game that’s not boring for gamers whatsoever.

    Another excellent video! This has been on my self of shame for almost a year. I was lucky to find it for less than $10 brand-new from a store closing sale. I typically find myself playing most of my games at 2p and had wanted to wait for a bigger group. But, then just kinda forgot about it. Watching this really makes me want to finally get this one played. I might just have to do it, even if it's just at 2.
    Thanks again for highlighting these less talked about games.
    Happy New Year!

      Happy new year! I’m glad I could provide some motivation! It’s not quite as good with 2p, but it’s definitely still good enough to play and learn the rules. It’s a perfect game to introduce to a group, because once you learn it, it’s one of the easiest games to teach. In my experience, people have grasped the rules SO quickly. I hope you enjoy it!

      Thanks man! I agree, the board art is so classic and adds to the old-school vibes. I hope this art team and design duo put out some more games in this same style! It’s such a breath of fresh air in the modern gaming world that’s obsessed with all the shiny new stuff.

      That’s awesome! Surprisingly I have been hearing similar things from a lot from people; they bought the game but never actually tried it. I’m happy I could provide some motivation for people to take it off the shelf. It’s a gem for sure! Thanks for watching!

      Fun for sure, and surprisingly easy to get to the table! We logged 10 plays in 2023. It got requested quite a bit because it's so quick to set up, and once you learn it, it sticks with you. No fiddly rules, no clunky stuff, just smooth gameplay with rich decisions.

      Good luck in your search! I don’t know where you are located, but I just looked on eBay here in the USA, and there are a bunch of cheap copies! Some of those sellers might ship to you? Thanks for the comment!

      It's crazy how much that matters. I have a long list of games on my wishlist that are easy to find in Germany but nearly impossible to find here in the USA. My dream is to take a trip to Germany someday just to play and shop for board games I can't find here haha!

    Excellent video! Somehow I totally missed this one, so thanks for sharing. This looks like a solid euro! I’m loving those little leaf tokens. Are they wooden?

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes, they are wooden! Those are my favorite component too. I forgot to mention that in the video. The little meeples are a bit fiddly/top heavy. However, the wooden leaves are SO cool! They’re like a thin wood (similar to Babylonia from the same publisher). Thanks so much for the comment! Hope you get to try this sometime!

    This game looks AMAZING!!! Wow! How did I miss this one?!! I am curious, does it remind you of Puerto Rico at all? The action selection thingy looks kinda similar to P.R. because when I do an action, everyone else gets to do an action too. From your video I think the overally game looks different from P.R. But I was just wondering what you thought about that. Any comparisons to P.R.? Thanks for introducing me to Ceylon! I am excited to try this one!

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Other than the fact that everyone else gets to do an action based on what you do, no, it does not remind me of Puerto Rico whatsoever. There are some Michael Rieneck games called World Without End and Cuba which I featured on previous episodes. I'd say Ceylon reminds me moreso of those... it feels a bit like Cuba with the resource gathering and contract fulfillment. Still, they are nothing alike because Ceylon has that area majority scoring and the multi-use cards. Ceylon truly stands alone as its own game!! Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoy it!

    How's your opinion about when harvesting, you harvest also the other players' fields? Thematic this seems to not make sense that you'll get cubes from spaces that are not your own.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It's one of my favorite mechanisms and decisions in the game! I typically love anything that makes a game more interactive, and that does it. I can see what you mean about the theme, but the way I see it, you're harvesting their field for them, so you're doing the work (and they get paid with a victory point). I love deciding whether to help my opponents or not.
      Another note regarding theme: Personally, I have never been a theme-forward gamer (meaning I don't really care if the mechanisms make sense thematically). I just want an interesting puzzle with fun mechanisms. I also want a neat setting with great artwork, which this game has. But it's still a euro game through and through, so naturally you won't find this to be a hugely thematic experience, and that's my favorite type of game: fun mechanisms with a light sprinkle of theme. Thanks for the comment!
