If you are not confident undertaking electrical work then you should have this work undertaken by a qualified electrician. - Jak na to + styl
Hello Mr DIY Guy, I followed this video exactly as you described and now have a fabulous light in my girlfriend's attic. It's very professional looking and neat. Thanks for the easy to follow advice. 😊😁
I used to be a sparks and am a skilled DIYer and plumber but still enjoy watching your videos as they are clear and concise and very entertaining
Appreciate that cheers
People will still mess it up.
@@TheDIYGuy1 my attic has a light installed I simply took of the old ceiling rose light and just connected it to the led batten
Bought all the parts to do this a couple of weeks ago...fitted them today and this video is brilliant! You make it very clear on how to get the job done efficiently
Thanks for your hard work in putting these videos together. I have now completed installing 3 strip lights into my loft. All working fine. Thanks again.
Brilliant video! Exactly what I've been looking for and brilliantly explained. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Absolute legend, I followed every step and bought the same products. Very easy to install and the lights are super bright. Thanks 😀
Glad you liked the video
Just finished installing my own loft lights by following your instructions. Thank you for your clear and informative videos.
Your welcome 👍
Excellent video! Clear, concise and just great presentation.
Thanks for making this video, I finally had the courage to do it, I bought everything you said to buy and followed every step to the letter and I now have loft lights! Now I'm going to rewatch the video you made for adding a plug socket from an existing one and I should have power up there then too, thanks again your videos are amazing keep it up mate!
Great video, really helpfu. A job I was going to pay an electrician a fortune to do. More than happy to do it myself now and love the Wago clips/boxes. Many thanks!!!
What a brilliant how to! Just installed these yesterday and what a difference it makes and so easy to wire up and use them Wago box’s once watching your video cheers 👍🏼
Great job 👍
I have just installed loft lights following your video step by step and I have to say your instructions were BRILLLLLLLLLIANT! Thanks DIY GUY.
Great to hear!
Brilliant! Very well explained thanks, adding it to my to do list!
Been swapping out switches for years but never understood the underlying theory of the circuit until now.
Glad it was helpful
Exactly the job I want to do in the next couple of weeks and found your video. Clear, concise and easy to follow giving me the confidence to do the job myself. Thank you for taking the time & effort to produce this really helpful content, obviously subscribed 😊👍
Thanks for subscribing
Did you do this job ? Did you have any bother closing the junction box with the same set up as here11:43
Great video, gave me the confidence to install two LED batten lights in my loft today. I copied your use of wago connectors/box and those fancy wire strippers and it made the job simpler. I wanted my lights central and pointing down though, so made some mdf ‘struts’ which I’m well happy with.
Great vids, good camera work and helpful hints - thank u very much! 😊
Your welcome 👍
Amazing, you really broke it down to its smallest parts, so so helpful (especially those wago boxes!!). Much appreciated.
Glad it was helpful!
Brilliant. Clear and concise and I'd now be happy to confidently tackle this job. Thank you.
That's the aim of this channel 🙂
Best videos on CZcams easy to follow instructions very easy for all diy ers
Thanks for an excellent video showing clear instructions. I love using the Wago connectors they make the job so much easier. Worth mentioning that if like me you have a larger light fitting in one of your upstairs rooms you can take loop from inside there and through the ceiling without having to cut into the cable in the loft. There’s usually enough room to get the cable through the hole and connect it up using the smaller more compact 221 connectors. Just an alternative to cutting into the cable that’s all.
Did exactly the same thing in my loft. Nice job and very well, and clearly, explained 👌
Thanks 👍
Great video. Clear explanation & simple instructions. I now have lights in my loft! 😊
Just followed your guide and can`t thank you enough for the very detailed and straight forward explanation throughout.
Thank you again👍
Any time 👍
Brilliant video 👍 I installed lights last year but just had a lead with a plug which I would drop down to the landing and plug in every time i went in the loft. Now I have nice little switch setup 🙂 no more up and down the ladder grabbing the plug to plug in etc.
easy to follow, clear and not hard to do, well happy i found this as i needed to know before tomorrow
Clear and precise instructions... after installing my own loft lights after watching this video, this will be my goto video to send to someone if they ask how its done...
Great, thanks
I am an amateur old man, but your vids were extremely professional and I learnt a lot from the detail that you gave. Wish we'd had CZcams 40 years ago, but i suppose you wouldn't have been around then. Thank you anyway.
I appreciate that!
Great channel.... I didn't know how to fit a ceiling light. I then came across your channel and fitted my ceiling light. Your video's are absolutely brilliant and easy to follow.
Glad I've helped you out
Started my own handyman business and have been very good with basic electrics but your videos have made me waaaay more confident. Thanks
Great to hear!
Another really good video, thanks. A point worthy of mention is beware taking power from a landing light as likely to be on a 2 way switch and sometimes is on the circuit labelled 'downstairs' at the consumer unit. My method is always to turn on the light I am going to use, then kill the circuit and if the light goes out you're good to go 😊
Brilliant in more ways than one 👏 - I am a confident DIY' er but not normally with electrics .I followed this and the result is amazing - thank you I wouldnt have tried it without the Video and now I understand about switched lives , something that always confused me - thanks and more 🙏
Glad you learnt something. That's what my channel is all about
What a great tutorial this is, very clear and concise ...very well done Sir.
Glad you think so. Cheers
Just done this after watching your video. Thank you so much, very will explained and detailed. My lights looks fabulous and a vast improvement over the 1 single bulb on the end of a 3 pin plug that was there beforehand.
Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic video, love your presenting style, all step by step with no missing a step to leave viewers head scratching!
I’ve always considered myself reasonably competent but I (obviously wrongly) thought an earth “circuit” had to be continuous, obviously not the case?
He runs an earth connection to each light fitting and the switch. The lights don't require an earth connection - many modern fittings don't. But the connection is there if needed in future.
Thank you for the video! Watched it a few times then at the same time as I was doing the job myself this morning. Those wire strippers and wago connectors are really easy to use, thanks for recommending them.
Your welcome 👍
Great videos, you seem to explain it so easy and understandable. Love it. 👍👍
Glad you like my vids
Absolutely brilliant video, clear precise and nothing missing, cheers pal
Your welcome 😃
You keep it simple and methodical just what the average guy needs 👍👍👍👍
I do try 😀
Followed your guide and had no issues at all. Very clear and concise..Keep up the good work !!
Glad it helped!
For someone who’s knowledge of electronics doesn’t venture much further than a 3 pin plug, found the video to be clear and informative, the instructions are easy to follow and at the end of the day I have managed to fit two new LED batten lights into my garage, well happy, will be doing the same in the loft next, thanks
Glad it helped
This is so comprehensive yet easy to follow. Really like your clear instructions, good camera footage and explanations!! Great work.
Thanks very much 🙂
Wow! My dad is the electrical DIY er of the family but after watching this I would give it a go. What a great video!!!!!!!
Go for it!
Another great instructional video! I would just mention that the batten lights used in this video are Class II (double insulated) and that's why they don't have earth cores on the flex cable. If someone is using a Class I fitting then its really important that you connect up the earths!
Thanks. That's for adding your tip for others
This is fantastic. I have just added a new loft ladder was considering getting a spark out to wire up sime lighting. Really good instructions that i feel more than comfortable to follow.
Great. That's what this channel is all about
I took the leap and had a go. Easy as. Thank you you so much. The Wife now thinks I am a genius.
Brilliant video. Clear, easy to follow and has given me the confidence to have a go at doing this myself now!
That's my aim. Glad it helped
Thanks for this detailed video which helped me carry out a led light install in my loft today. You made it so simple to follow and using wago's made the job even simpler. Cheers and keep the great videos coming.
You are welcome! Will do
Enjoyed this video. Good clear instructions and easy to follow. Presented at a nice steady pace.
Glad you found it useful 🙂
Nice helpful video, thank you DIY Guy!
Great video! Concise and clear. Been putting off this job for some time, but your video gave me inspiration and confidence to get it done!
Glad I could help!
What a great video, simply put where anyone that has the same type of wire can understand, I just wish you had a USA version. But I still really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for the time you take to make such detailed videos.
Your very welcome 👍
Great video, good to see people taking the time to help out others.
Thanks for this video and your other videos.
Just finished installing my first light and to be fair it looks good.
Can't wait for more videos 😀
Glad you like the vids
Great to see your channel is gaining well deserved momentum on viewer numbers and subscribers! I like those lights you fitted. I think I maybe picking up some for my loft - thanks!
Thanks very much for your support. Give it a go 😊

Glad it's easy to follow 😁
thanks for making my life easier just put loft lights in (a job I was dreading) but you made so easy and simple to follow a big thanks
Really interesting & informative. Off to sort my garage and loft out.
Thank you 😁
Thank you so much. I have just done this in my loft and the way you explained it and what you required to do the job gave me the confidence to tackle this. You made it very easy for me to understand and complete this task. I have only installed one at the moment but will be installing a second at a later date. Thank you again. I have now subscribed and have been watching your other videos.
Glad it helped! Thanks
Good video this for DIY installs and you showed all the basic safety checks too so no-one should be scared of doing it themselves and if they are just connect the lighting feed cable to a 13A plug and run it down inside the Airing Cupboard (Remember them?!) and then you can just plug it in only when you need it - Simples!
Useful video; I did mine years ago with a fluorescent batten (before LED light fixtures were a thing). Personally, I went for a "bathroom"-style pull-cord light switch mounted on a rafter above the hatch rather than a surface-mounted rocker switch. That means that the end of the pull cord is visible and reachable without even sticking my head through the hatch and I don't have to scrabble around in the dark trying to find the switch.
Thanks. Great idea 👍
Those foam garage bumpers are handy if you don't want to whack your head on a rafter at the top.of the steps too.
Great video, I followed the instructions and I now have a working loft light💡 👍🏻
Awesome
Very clear instruction.. i am really pleased. Thanks very much… it really helped me…
Always good instructions on your videos, Captain of DIY. Thanks. Peace be unto you.
Thanks a lot. The captain 😂
Honestly best wiring video everything worked brilliant and safely, thank you
Glad it helped
Well presented, easy to follow and personally I like the fact you call the earth wire what the older gen know it as, Just subscribed.
Glad to have you as a subscriber
This was really interesting and informative, thank you for your help & advice, I was looking at doing something like this with extending my attic light to be more lights.
I learned today how to change a light fixture which was tricky enough but I've learned a load with your video, thanks :D
Glad it was helpful!
Extremely helpful video and easy understanding wiring procedure
Glad you like it
Brilliant video, it has cleared up alot of queries I had, great work 👍💯
Thank you - very useful - have learnt loads. Well filmed and great sound, super clear instructions & easy to understandable.
Glad it was helpful!
Many Thanks for recommending these lights. Used one in my garage and it is a million times better!

Great film and explanation, thank you, much appreciated.👍👍
Thanks very much 👍
Excellent detailed commentary, thank you
Your very welcome
THIS VIDEO IS FU**ING OUTSTANDING!
Awesome comment thanks 🙂
just what needed, will be doing this in the near future, thankyou, non technical but precise.
Your welcome 👍
Thank you so much for doing this video. I am in the process of flooring my loft and doing some work there. I have a light bulb on a long extension but it gives very little light. I am going to try those long lights and possibly try installing a switch. Appreciate the tutorial.
Your very welcome
Awesome content mate, followed to the letter and I now have lights in my loft with a simply flick of the switch!!
Keep up the good work my friend
Awesome, thank you!
@@TheDIYGuy1 Dont forget the current regs require rcd protection be provided to lighting circuits now too if you plan on making any modifications or additions to the existing circuit, (I can see your lights already do, but there are a lot of properties out there that don't) Also the circuit should be checked before being modified, that its fit for purpose in the first place, which opens up a whole new can of worms of course.
Loved the video, just finished putting my own loft lights up, following this video. Took a couple of hours but well worth it. Note black and red cables in our house not brown and blue.
👍 well in
Excellent video. Straight forward and very helpful.
Glad you liked the video
Good job, well video'd and explained.
Excellent thanks for your guide. 🤗🤗🤗
Your very welcome
Thanks so much! So easy and clear and....IT WORKED! :)
Great video! I'm a recently qualified electrician and having not had much hands on experience, videos like this help immensely to building my skillset up to the point i can be independently confident in what I'm doing
Glad it helped! Thanks
Thank you.
I used your guide along with using a Quickwire switch and load and the results are a working loft light. I can finally see everything without a flashlight or a head light. Next up is boarding the loft, hope you have a video 😂
Excellent video, just what I was looking for, thanks.
Glad it helped
This is an excellent job and a great idea.
However I’ve always been a fan of being modular in the attic because working up there is such a pita.
What I did was install outlets that are controlled by a light switch.
Another thing is turning the lights to face the roof and not your face. What’s been the easiest way to accomplish this for me is to use led strip channels. Led strip channels are very thin and easy to install, you can install them with simple spring clips and just face them away from you.
Well done really great job 👏
brilliant and instructive video. Thank you 👍
Your welcome, glad you like it
Absolutely loved it. Can't belive I watched it to the end. Do I need to wire up any loft lights. No. Do I want to yes. Yes I do.
I bet this is same as when other magicians hate magicians that show you how a trick is done.i bet some sparkies wish he would stop making these videos and showing how easy this is 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️
I do get that sometimes 😜
Great tutorial thanks 👍
very nice video thank you! Very nice explanations, good quality image and sound !
Glad you think so, I do try 😁
Awesome video. I have a couple of projects and this has helped a great deal.
Glad it helped you
That is an excellent instructional video. Thanks for sharing. Regards Stephen
Thanks 👍
Excellent video - thank you.
Your welcome
Brilliant clear tutorial.
Glad you think so!
Great tutorial, one of the best diy channels on you tube. Everything clearly explained.
That's my aim 🙂. Cheers
Great video. I did exactly that in my loft earlier this year. Those LED battens are really bright so I used some in my garage as well to replace some old fluorescent tubes fittings. My next job is to raise the floor in my loft & add 200mm of extra insulation. I've also added some raised shelving in between the A frames in the loft for more storage space. Some videos on these projects might be of interest to your viewers. Keep up the good work. Subbed & liked.
Thank you very much 🙂
Excellent videos! Thanks
Your welcome
I’m planning to replace some old fluorescent tube lights in our loft so this video will be very useful.
Glad it was helpful!
Brilliant video. I fitted 2 of these 3 ft length battens in my attic a few months ago(wiring nowhere as neat as yours!).
You do make it look so easy.
Ok
