    I have this code as well as p2279 (intake air system leak) on my 04 accord v6. Not too sure what could be causing the issue
    I just got it back from a shop after my spark plug shot out and stripped the threads, luckily no debris in engine. They ended up using a timesert

      Try checking your exhaust for leaks and around the engine for vacuum leaks.

    I just got this code on my Mitsubishi Eclipse 99. I put Cataclean and deleted the code. It didn’t come on within 500 miles. But then I found a leak. 1 at the exhaust manifold flange 1 at the catalytic flange. I took the cat out and dipped it in soap the purple powder. Honeycomb looks good. I’m going to install it back and I hope I never see that code again or have bad acceleration.

    I just bought a 2010 Accord EX-L and during the test drive it had no check engine lights, of course now it does, P0420, The owner stated that it has the same gas in the tank for perhaps 6 months, could old/bad gas cause p0420?

    • @whyingo7964
      @whyingo7964  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Old gas usually causes other issues, such as clogged fuel filters or injectors. You can add in some catalytic converter cleaner, such as Cata Clean, and see if it clears.

      Thanks for the reply. I am trying Lucus high mileage fuel system cleaner 1st, I hadn't heard of Cataclean B4, will try on next tankful if no response from Lucus... Happy motoring @@whyingo7964

    I have a 2011 honda odyssey touring minivan, with po420. Would it be worth putting a new catalytic converter and 2 o2 sensors on it, because number 1 plug keeps fouling out every 1 month to 2 months. Runs rough engine light starts flashing, was told bad valve bank 1 is there a way to fix this without having to pull engine and rebuild it or replace engine. Used motor 1,800 and labor 850.00 just don't have that much money to put out on it. What do you think. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

      I have a 2011 Ody that had spark plugs getting fouled until I installed a VCM muzzler which keeps all 6 cylinders running. 50k miles later still running strong. Easy fix look into it

    My 07 Honda accord had aftermarket Cat installed and now the OBD II sensor says my sensor “Bank 1” air/fuel ratio is what’s causing check engine light and nothing else was detected what so ever. Is it possible that all I need is a new sensor for bank 1 ? And does is it need to be OEM sensor ? I believe the OEM for my Honda accord is “Denso” and also does the sensor for “Bank 2” also have to be OEM denso brand ? They replaced the “Bank 2” sensor since they stole my entire CAT and almost the entire exhaust system and I’m wondering if the bank 2 sensor is aftermarket and somehow confusing the car and causing the Bank 1 sensor to mess up. I really need help bad with this because I can’t find any used cars at all what so ever In the $8,000 price range that have less than 120,000 miles with good gas mileage and all I can find all over Northern California is the stupid ass “09’ Toyota Yaris” in my price range that’s decent on gas and I do not like anything about that car so I really need help whoever reads this message and what I should do ? Will the aftermarket CAT pass smog if I have OEM sensors in bank 1&2 ? Or is it possible the CAT itself even with brand new OEM sensors still fail smog if I replace the sensors with Denso brand OEM ? Please help haha 😂 I have 178K miles on my Honda and it runs amazing even with the issue I have rn… not a single issue besides this problem. What should I do y’all ? Thank you! I have the PO420 code and says Bank 1 sensor. When they put bank 2 sensor on the new aftermarket cat I wasn’t told if it is aftermarket sensor or OEM either. Do I need to replace both with brand new denso OEM ? And even if I do will it pass smog even with the aftermarket CAT ? I don’t wanna have to buy a new car or a new cat..

    • @whyingo7964
      @whyingo7964  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Replacing with OEM is always a good idea when possible. The 02 sensor and Cat all need to be tested to know which component has failed.

      @@whyingo7964 so I just checked with the obd2 and did live reading on everything and watched videos on what normal ranges and numbers should be and when I checked the reading for the upstream bank 1 sensor it’s at -127.000 and goes up to 0 lol yeahhhhhhh so I’m guessing it’s absolutely fried

    How much does this usually cost?

    • @sbraham
      @sbraham Před 29 dny

      If it is the O2 sensor they are about $140 upstream $100 downstream. Converter will run you $500ish IF you are doing the work yourself. This is parts only cost. Auto parts stores normally have loaner tools, so borrow the sensor wrench set if you a swapping out the sensor
