This will keep the check engine light from coming on. For states that only plug into the computer this would pass a smog test. Those that run a sensor in the tailpipe it may or may not.
Make sure that you have the correct sensors. Then it is time to inspect the wiring and connections going back to your computer. If you have access to a scan tool with a graphing function you can watch the data coming back from the O2 sensors and sometimes get an idea of what the issue is.
It could but not much. It will make it run rich or lean. It depends upon your vehicle as most vehicles are so diverse in the ecm,pcm fuel management. Worst case scenario is you might lose a few mpg.
I would check to see if you have any air leaks before or after the cat converter and also any cracks on the exhaust manifold. Also, this trick doesn't really work if you completely deleted the cat. Good luck

a.. The Post-cat O2S has been used since 1988 to control fuel trim (to
some extent)
a.. Toyota and Saab
b.. Used to fine-tune the A/F ratio to maximize catalyst efficiency
c.. Will also compensate for a degraded Catalyst
d.. Every manufacture today uses the rear O2S to trim fuel today
The post cat O2S is a fuel control input. Toyota and Saab have used the
post-cat O2 to control the fuel trim since 1988; Before OBD-II. This sensor is used to fine-tune the air-fuel ratio to maximize catalyst efficiency. It can also adjust the air fuel ratio to compensate for a degraded Catalyst. If you were to measure the actual amount of time the post-cat O2 is used during the running of the catalyst monitor (maybe once per trip) and compare that to the amount of time the post-cat O2 is used fine tune the air-fuel ratio (almost always in closed loop), you will see that this sensors major function is fuel control. Every vehicle manufacture today uses the rear O2S for fuel correction; even if it is undocumented.
a.. How much control over fuel trim does the rear O2S have?
a.. GM material says less than 1.0%
b.. Ford says 0.5%
c.. Toyota says 2.0%
d.. Under normal conditions. We have seen up to 30% correction in fuel trim from the rear O2S in abnormal conditions

@@mattanfang you shouldn’t see any noticeable change in mpg or performance. Any use after the cat is just for catalyst tuning and not for mpg tuning. By doing it this way the sensor still gets some airflow but not enough for it to recognize catalyst issues.
@@YourCarGuyDR Sounds good, thanks
@@YourCarGuyDR Sorry but apparently my P0420 code went off again today. So that was a bummer that this non fouler did not work. Any other thoughts? Clean the cat (somehow) or get another downstream O2 sensor or disconnect the dash light? The light was off for 1 week. And yeah prior to that I had a sticker over the dash light. :-)
things that could be is yes the catalytic converter it self or it can just be a O2 censor that already went bad no need to replace the catalytic converter or need to trick it just simple replace the sensor.
Which one? The downstream
@@danielpersaud8734 ya which one?? Hope somebody can answer me today. I’m about to get started
@@LarryMFjohnson i think that guy dont know what he is talking about or else he would have responded
@@LarryMFjohnson down stream yes
@@danielpersaud8734 did you even watch the video?
Where do you get the adapter? Can you send me the link please?
Amazon
Would this work for my 06 hybrid?
It should.
Do you have to put it on the downstream sensor?
Leeko Huncho yes.
Is it works with civic 7th generation? 2001 year
Yes
@@YourCarGuyDR thank u bruh
I changed catalytic converter & upstream… Code still displaying
Where can I get the adapter
Joe Medina most auto parts stores have them in their help section. It is a spark plug anti fouler.
@@YourCarGuyDR hello does it hurt the MPG? the car engine on the video is a R18A2, does it use the secondary O2 Sensor to ajust the AF Ratio or not? I want to try this fix, but I don't want to get bad mpg
Flavio Lopes it will not effect the fuel mileage. Only the upstream O2 sensors adjust air fuel ratio. The downstream sensors are just monitoring the catalyst.
@@YourCarGuyDR thanks for the reply does the size of the hole (that fits on the catalytic) interferes? I've ordered 2 from aliexpress they have a 3 mm hole and a 4 mm hole.
Does the hole needs to be bigger?
Flavio Lopes the size of the hole shouldn’t matter.
Do you do radio? You have a great voice
Thank you!
Is buying an O2 sensor just as effective as adding that piece u put
No, this code is rarely due to a bad sensor. It is most frequently due to a failing catalytic converter.
@@YourCarGuyDR thanks I really appreciate u getting back to me
It doesn’t work on 2001 Honda Civic u can’t bore the fouler big enough to fit the o2 sensor. The o2 sensor was still way to big. The thread size was right . But the tip of the o2 sensor still to big.
All u had to do was use 2 of them drill through both
Where I can buy those plugs ?
Any auto parts store should have them. You can also find them online.
My question is will it pass smog
This will keep the check engine light from coming on. For states that only plug into the computer this would pass a smog test. Those that run a sensor in the tailpipe it may or may not.
I replaced my cat and both sensors I still get the code not sure why.
Make sure that you have the correct sensors. Then it is time to inspect the wiring and connections going back to your computer. If you have access to a scan tool with a graphing function you can watch the data coming back from the O2 sensors and sometimes get an idea of what the issue is.
Pcv valve?
I had just installed a new converter and both sensors. Its still doing the same thing
Check your wiring.
@@YourCarGuyDR i have an accord. I havnt turned off the check engine light with the scanner yet. But my car is fine so far. Thanks 🫂
hello does it hurt the MPG?
It could but not much. It will make it run rich or lean. It depends upon your vehicle as most vehicles are so diverse in the ecm,pcm fuel management. Worst case scenario is you might lose a few mpg.
@@22kpar1xcyberdyne9 Will it affect the MPG on Honda Civic's? Your Car Guy is saying no so I went ahead with the change and it worked.
It increased the mileage 52% on mine
Where can I find you? My car showed the code
K this is a fairly easy fix. Anyone who is handy could complete it.
Where can I get one of those spark plug adapters?
Any auto parts store or online.
I did It bit fuel waste increased
i try this method and it works for a day then check engine come back again. Maybe, just my luck???
I would check to see if you have any air leaks before or after the cat converter and also any cracks on the exhaust manifold. Also, this trick doesn't really work if you completely deleted the cat. Good luck
I did the trick, and the check engine light didn’t go away :/
What next?
Did you clear the code with a scan tool? If so now it is time to look at the wiring and downstream oxygen sensor.
would the smog guy check/care to see this?
omega42587 this is not considered an emissions compliant repair.
omega42587 if your smog guy sees this ( In California), they will fail the smog during the visual inspection portion of the test.
Arturo Eats - that is correct.
Depends on inspector, mine doesnt even look under the car.
An emergency fix.
One that can last for years...
Why would this make the dashboard lights go crazy
This wouldn’t have any effect on the dashboard lights.
This is only a bandage jobs. Many owners & cat stolen's owners get very upset of having the shop repair because high cost.
It will throw ATG's Check Engine Light Code #P0420 /or will never pass emission test/ won't be getting your tag.
ATG & I say to do it right (but we don't recommend owners to do it) by replacing with Honda Genuine Catalytic Convert & O2 sensor (one farther from the engine or on Catalytic Converter).
ATG & Honda's Catalytic Converter plus hardware usually cost over $1,200.00. Then you got to replace the O2 Sensor.
If you do them & DON'T use ATG/Honda, then expect within 2.1 to 6.5 years to do it again.
FYI:
My daughter & I replaced even with a Honda's genuine catalytic converter & O2 and it was defective in 2 months (P0420).
A second Honda's Catalytic Converter with O2 sensor were replaced, again.
Customer came back the third time: We changed the ATG/Honda's Catalytic Converter & O2 for the 3X. Won customer 4 life.
We took the lost but at the end we got happy customer for life & then they told their families & friends.
ATG & I say do it right & don't cut corner.

How can i get this
muhammad bilal it is available at most auto parts stores or online.
I ask in auto oark.they don.t know..whats is it.
You can get these on Amazon or at a local parts store. It is a spark plug non fouler. It will have to be modified slightly to fit. I have heard of people getting ones that fit without modifications but I have not seen those.
Not a fix!! 😂
It works
I don't think this is legal.
