    Problem with that last challenge is that the ball placements for Caleb were different than for Ange. Caleb's were 5 metres or so in front of the bags which gave him time to get his balance then make the pass, where as Ange's were set up in line with the targets and he had no time to recover and pass. That needs to be fixed for any further challenges

    The ball placement is different, it looks like CC's are placed well behind the target so he can pick up and then set for a pass. Cap's balls looked to be inline with the target, pick and pass in the same motion while trying to keep running pace is not easy. Been good to see the ball placement the same for both, but then again I'm not there so can't be sure they weren't.

    • @joshmartin8481
      @joshmartin8481 Před 2 lety +1

      @@d_uzooo3972 give it a try best way to know. Will try to explain but will probably struggle, but in essence Cas has to pass the ball behind him more than CC, the rotation required to do that at high pace is very hard on the body, and then on top of that he needs to be accurate. If you watch someone pass accurately behind them, you'll often see their opposite foot (to the direction of the pass) be locked in place and act as a anchor to produce the rotation. Which Cas doesn't have the luxury off, as he isn't stationery. Why you often see full speed passes go forward after leaving the hands.
      Again best to give it a try and know the difference yourself.

    Would be interesting to give them a slalom to run. In and out of cones to test their speed and agility at the same time. I feel like that's a more accurate way that Rugby players need to run.

  • @IAMiJCWM
    @IAMiJCWM Před 2 lety +3

    Fun to watch, serious speed from both!
    Need some standardizing of the details for a level comparison, and for others to take the challenge at home and compare themselves to the sports best:
    - In the timed runs the start distance from the first cells (the farther the more speed you build up before the stopwatch starts) and the height of the cells (should be hip height for fairness) otherwise hand/arm swing can cut the cell "ahead" of the runner in Caleb's case (bad for start good for finish) and foot/leg swing could be ahead or behind runner when cells are placed so low in Anges case (good/bad for start finish). Both these can account for enough difference (specially the start distance) to tip the balance each since the result differences are in the 0.09 range.
    - In the run+pass the ball placement as has been mentioned extensively in other comments.
    Cool content, congrats!

    • @IAMiJCWM
      @IAMiJCWM Před 2 lety

      @mmpj twod yeah it was 1.85 but that was at the 10m mark from the moment the gun went off and from blocks, so both reaction time (RT), block and center of mass (CoM) delay is factored in that time, whereas the rugby guys had a standing start and the clock was started once they crossed the first set of cells (which it seems from the video that in Calebs case were slightly further away from his starting spot compared to Ange thus allowing him slightly more space and time to accelerate before he crossed the first set of cells and the time started) so they had a slight run-in, these differences can easily account for 0.3 to 0.5 secs for these guys so there is the short answer.
      On the other side we can try and work out how much Bolt would have taken in similar conditions since his RT and first steps data is available, so:
      - Bolts RT in that race was 0.165
      - Block start disadvantage (lower CoM and CoM slightly behind 0 metre mark) until first step push off start could account for another 0.135 at least, until Bolt would have "cut" the cells
      So 1.85 - 0.165 - 0.125 = 1,56 for Bolt in "similar" conditions

    "Ball sports athletes can NOT compete with top sprinters!
    Ball sports athletes get a time advantage by starting from a rolling position (at least 40 centimeters behind the timing gate); and there're not reacting to any starting signal; there's no reaction time.
    To compare the times of the ball sports athletes with those of the sprinters, we have to add at least 0.5 seconds to the ball sports athletes' times: so, for instance a 30 meter time of 3.75 s is at best 3.25 s!
    Plus: there's at least 1 sprinter who has clocked under 3.09 s over 30 m under the same conditions under as the ball sports athletes!"

    Le problème technique de Cappuozo au démarrage est qu'il n'utilise pas assez ses bras qui doivent être plus proches de son corps et ses premiers appuis partent dans tout les sens. Il doit avoir les pieds droits pour envoyer plus de puissance. Caleb Clarke n'est pas assez penché, pas assez en pousser, pas assez en recherche de puissance sur les 30 premiers mètres, il doit être penché et se relever progressivement
