I found myself yelling: "That's a gorgeous spiral!" at Willie's last kick 🔥👌🏾
I said the exact same thing!
It belongs in the Louvre
As a French supporter, I can say Hogg is easily one of my favourite players of all time… I can’t wait for the next edition of the 6Nations.
France have been doing beautifully so far let’s hope you guys can stay on your A Game for the six nations because England and Ireland have found some new spirit in their game plans
@@Wolfsong27FlyHalfFullHeart Scotland as well
@@Wolfsong27FlyHalfFullHeart This is precisely why I've said I'm looking for this particular edition. Scotland, Ireland, England and France look like very serious contenders.
Allez les bleus
Would be interesting to see how far Frans Steyn would get
Need a bigger rugby pitch
We'd love to see it! We need everyone that wants to see it to Tweet him and ask him to get involved!
Mate he could kick it across a whole country
Hey we need it to at least be a contest 😁
You can't do a challenge like this without Steyn, pretty sure he'll beat everyone.
Should have asked frans steyn
Frans Steyn hits drop goals from 60m, he's too overpowered for Hogg😂
Actually his punting wasn't exceptional
The measuring tape starts at 23m. Love you SA 💕
Spot on. 😆👌
I promise sir, the dog did rest my tape
Can we please re do this one with Frans Steyn
Yes! I dunno why they would put Willie
They didn’t pick frans streyn because he’d kick the ball clear out the stadium and that’d be annoying to fetch and document every single time😭💀
Gaffie du Toit would've been the champ if he was still available. Percy Montgomery aswell.
No!He will kick the ball out the stadium.
Frans one of the last few that still enjoys a spiral torpedo
Well done Stuart, looking forward to the 6 Nations next year. I hope Scotland do better than 4th.
This aged like milk
Bouthier against England was the looooongest kick in rugby history
1:30 “it’s says 83...Is it possible?!” Lmao man believe yourself 😂💀
Then, “it got chewed by a dog” 😂
He saw it on the line that's why
@@beno8983 I promise sir, I really did do my homework
Ah lads this is not comparable with different condition's. Agree let's get Frans Steyn on ..my god that drop goal against Clermont 😅
Exactly, wind & altitude when it comes to kicking
Two incredible no15s. I thought le Roux would win it. Great win hotstepping Hogg. It's a joy watching you play for Scotland
Really nice seeing the guys having a little fun.
Be awesome to get a team on team set of challenges
“Amateurs”
Hogg and Le Roux: What was that, punk?
Bouthier: Amateurs.
Frans Steyn: Cute.
Frans Steyn will kick 100m no contest.
Why not Frans steyn he should be the one to lead the south on this one
They needed to make it fair at least
He would have won
Bring Andy Goode for the North, he would have done +70m as 16 year old
Difficult to measure when it’s in the stands
He is enjoying life on the plaas
Been waiting for something like this
Well done Stuart! Volgende keer Willie!
Hogg is at a disadvantage because he mesure the distance from the center. Willie goes straight from where he was to the ball.
In my day that was called the torpedo kick!
I think it depends where you come from. In South Africa I think it's still called a torpedo
As a South African and Japanese rugby supporter (since 99) I just want to play the game again! 2 years (and counting) is too long of a sabbatical for not playing rugby.
Same here bruh I just recently joined a club and I'm waiting for my 1st match
nice one Hoggy, on my birthday too!
Nice one Hoggy.
Finally a South African in one of these
we needed frans
Wrong South African 🙄
@@l.a.benjamin6222 Frans steyn?
@@nicolasnel7788 nope Willie is the wrong guy...he wasn't evens suppose to move past Boland Cavaliers
@@l.a.benjamin6222 you mean school 3rd team
Frans Steyn on a hot summer day at Ellis Park would probably kick it to Hogg's house.
Rob Andree had a seriously huge boot on him. Mr Hoggs spiral never fails to impress though!
And that's what I call a contest
I know who would win the catching game lol
I'd love to see some vets do this. I know a former international who can kick perfect spirals in jeans and dress shoes (because he was out kicking me in such garb one day while I was in 'proper' kit). I remember watching Percy Montgomery warm up for Newport once where he was dropping perfect spirals on a dime from touchline to touchline.
Was there any significant difference in altitude where these kicks were made? Obviously that would have an impact on the distance.
@@jimmylovescake6813looks like Willie is in the Cape region, so do not think there was much, if any, difference.
Bouthier vs england ?
You could have given us Willie's reaction at the end.
world rugby, when are you guys going to host the 100m sprint challenge
Frans Steyn 👀
Anthony Bouthier (France) made the same challenge later and destroyed the contest. The only one that could go further is Frans Steyn. But he would need another pitch.🤣🤣🤣
No sir, I promise, the dog ate my tape. Wind & altitude matter a fair bit, even for a punt
Willie didn’t tell anyone he was in Joburg. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Paul Roos has great rugby fields.
Frans steyn was torpedoed a ball over the main stand at Twickenham
Get Frans in these Kicking challenges before he retires
A following breeze makes a huge difference . Was Williy at altitude etc etc . Should have tried it when Willy was at Wasps.
Sort your camera positions and angles out 😂 don’t know who set these up but would like to be able to actually see how and where the ball flies (especially for Hogg’s kicks - couldn’t see where on Earth the ball was most of the time). Next time please just film one side angle to see the entire distance and one that follows the ball to see the spiral (from behind the kicker to get the best angle for the spin).
Jay Boyle a young fella playing in Adelaide, South Australian local footy comp kicked 80m goal. Now thats with an AFL ball thats heavier than a rubgy ball. Lets give the young fella a kick with a union ball.
Get Frans Steyn there. He will shred them.
The 3 biggest punters that I ever saw growing up were Roger Gould(Aus) Jean Patrick Lescaboura( Fra) and Severo Koroduadua(Fij)
Lescaboura, the one stride place kicker.
@@kenrehill8775 The last toe kicker as well
@@williamweir1547 ah yes I forgot that
Mooi oom Willie
be the ball
We’re they both at a similar altitude?
In my days we called this torpedo
Bring in Naas Botha!
When Hoggy starts trying : “67, not bad”
I’d say he has another 10 from 77..
@@mr.codingmaster2 I think Willie did pretty well at sea level and with no wind behind him! But it was fun to watch
God bless and protect everyone
How long was Bouthier's kick against England in 2020?
80m
71 is still good💪
Longest AFL goal in resent time is 72m. That is only to the goal line, not where it landed. You could easily add 15m on that distance.
Wa is Frans Steyn asb?
Wow...77.3...is very good most I've done is around 60..max!!🤣🤣
Why you comparing you to an athlete that played in the rwc though?
Jis though Willie would do it but Hoggy took it in the end...🔥
I got a picture with Stuart hog
Should have tried this at altitude, say in Jhb or Pta., interesting to see if kicks would have gone further.
honestly at altitude in SA you're getting a good 5-10m more distance. Sometimes more.
trust me from someone who knows , there are times at sandy park where an old lady could kick the ball 100 Metres!! there are times where little grubber kicks go beyond the dead ball line
I think That was an old lady kicking the ball mate ...... ... No wait it was Stuart Hogg easy to confuse the 2
@@graytoby1 oh shush ya donk
Can u pls do joe Simmonds v Marcus smith
4:50 😩
frans steyn will kick 100m
Hogg does long run ups and gives it his all whereas Le Roux takes a couple of causal steps and you get the feeling he could do much better.
Le Roux is in much warmer conditions and is also (probably) at higher altitude, both of which will have a big impact on increasing the length of his kicks.
having watched Hogg play a ton i cannot recall an opponent kicking further from ball in hand than him. so i would say if they were both to kick in the exact same conditions Hogg would win relatively comfortably.
@@Demondoink1 tbh it’s all about the bounce as Willie said. And taking a long run up isn’t feasible in a game. Teams also have different kicking strategies with Northern Hemisphere teams preferring to kick deep whereas Southern Hemisphere teams preferring to comb it. So it’s difficult to judge who is better quantitatively.
Willie was at his high school alma mater which is in Stellenbosch. At 137m above sea level, it's hardly in the stratosphere
That's Willie for you - you'd always expect him to do better.
@@Demondoink1 Frans Steyn says hi 🤣 but jokes aside, Willie is basically at sea level, he's near Cape Town.
Lekker Willie and hogg
Altitude!
I don’t think it was a fair comparison. If you looked at the pitch that Willie was on it had thick and long grass compared to Stuart was on short grass which gave him advantage since roll was included. They should not have included roll.
You should make a video to prove the injustice ;)
Cold conditions that hogg had are a disadvantage though plus having watched both many times hogg has a better and longer spiral
Hoggy boi
H'on the Hogg 👏👏👏
Would like to see Hoggs ball land and roll
Beating a bloke at altitude when he is near sea level is no joke
I mean seriously? First up: put both guys in the same conditions (wind, grass, etc) and then replace Le Roux with Frans Steyn…
Yeah at least do it in an enclosed stadium without wind same ball same grass etc. If your gonna bother to do these competitions at least put in a bit of effort
Sorry, but Frans Steyn is the boot foot to beat,no?
They call a torpedo a spiral?... I was checking maybe it's a banana kick or something
Was wondering the same thing! Torpedo!
I want to see somebody go against frans steyn
Wille Re Roux Was The Better Kicker Here Hog Had The Wind
Can't wait for the next 6Nations. Hoping Covid doesn't ruin it
a league player from the doggies named matt burton is the king at spirals
Better Hogg🔥🥳🥳🔥
should've got Ben Healy
Frans Steyn ???
There are other players who can kick further like Steyn, Kunavore, etc.
Get big Gavin Henson on, that's 100m everyday
Frans Steyn
As a South African and Springboks Supporter, I recognize Hogg as a player far beyond Willie Le Roux.
Amen to that boet
AFL players are probly best at this although the ball does make some difference. Players like Luke Hodge and a lot of others could torpedo a ball 75m.
Hoggy
All the variables involved makes doing this in two different locations pointless.
so you choose willie and not frans steyn...
Small octopus
why nobody asked me too take part in this activity
Go hoggy!
Nice hogg
A loudmouth like Hogg and a great guy like Willie. I'll support Le Roux anytime✌🇿🇦
Why didn't they measure it from where it bounced. Now that would be good.
Cus the whole point of the spiral is so it can role into touch
Cause measuring it from where it rolled would encourage them to actually spiral kick instead of just boot it
@@jacobalford7889 only in play; when used from a penalty or free kick, the carry distance is usually what counts.
@@Karma-qt4ji and that's why players never use a spiral for those anymore
@@roryodriscoll3008 Sure they do. It is not uncommon to see kicks to one side of the field (predominantly right side) being spirals because it arcs the ball towards the touchline and not away from it if the kicker is right-handed. That aside, the quality of the kick in rugby is always down to where you land the ball because where it ends up after that will always have an element of luck involved. Great kicks are penalised for bouncing the wrong way, terrible kicks reward the kicking team with a favourable bounce. So if we disagree on my reasoning, can we at least agree that where the ball lands is more skill based than where it rolls to?
How about something a little challenging - an inward foot spiral..
Torpedo!!!
Don't understand this game results. I thought was normal to kick 80 metres with a good one, even once I did more than 90 metres on my regional league
Cant even see them kicking, whoever did the editing should actually show them kicking instead of their foot or front on shots
You are all forgetting Anthony Bouthier.....
Who did this for France against England in the Six-Nations.
Yep. Not an artificial environment like this.
In a Test Match.
Allez Les Bleus 🇫🇷 🇫🇷 🇫🇷
Why willie??
